i would say a saitek x-52 or similar ch product is the minimum required, ideally you need a lot of controls mapped to your flight stick/throttle, more than are available on either a second hand x-45 or a cheap <50£/$ stick/throttle combo like a logiitech extreme 3d pro sure you can use the keyboard but by the time your done messing about you will have overflown your target or been shot down. personally the only hotas i would buy now it the thrustmaster warthog

Put Red Baron 3D to shame? You can kiss my ass, pal! That was one of THE best Online Dogfighters to ever been put on PC. 32 player Melee fights were amazing, and back then, people weren't tards like today's generation of gamers. There was an honor system. People let you take off, and get into the battle before swooping down and shooting at you
Also, to those playing DCS's A-10... You don't know shit about how amazing that is until you've played it with TrackIR. Holy FUCK is it awesome. Just moving your view side to side and watching how the HUD acts... It's exactly like the real deal, not just some animated Font on a 2D surface in front of you, it actually looks like it's projected a few feet in front of the cockpit, and unless you have TrackIR, (Or manipulate the view using buttons somehow) You never see that effect, which is a shame, because that one small effect REALLY immerses you like you're in the cockpit of a $40 Million dollar killing machine, Though an A-10 is just a gun with a plane attached to it, to be honest
