Just got Fallout 3 a few days ago, anyone know of a good place to store items early on? Can items disappear if I just store them in some locker or box or etc?
Only if you put them in containers flagged to respawn their contents every so often and there aren't very many of those in Fallout 3.
You should be safe storing your crap almost anywhere.
Go to megaton and defuse the bomb you can get a house for that to store your stuff

Anyone know why mine is freezing/crashing like 5 minutes into the game every time I try to play it? Is there a fix for this?

Shit I just watched a new gamespot video that has the devs talking about the story and one of the clips they show looks like the accidental reveal what the package you were carrying was. FUCK!
We still have no idea what it does. Assuming the absolutely fundamental plot structure is in place (your search for the holy macguffin leads you into a far greater quest), its overall importance to the story will be minimal.
