Which is better?
Voted Agree. I bought Oblivion but could never get into it.
Valve have said previously that if steam shuts down (Highly unlikely given that they're the biggest distributor at this point), they will allow everybody to redownload their games through them without the DRM.
Yes, I know. A single download. Then you can't download it again since the servers are gone.

Also If you got steam retail games the files are encrypted and all heavily outdated by now, there would be no more master servers as well. I can't see it happen at the moment, the economy would have to crash that strong companies like Valve ever get in trouble.
I'm definitely going on Hardcore, Fallout 3 was quite boring when you could get by without using beds or water most of the time.
Can't do anything about Steam retail games, since that affects all copies.
To be honest, in 30 years when people have forgotten all about, say, Fallout: NV some ambitious programming student decides to make an essay about it. But he has to play the game first! Now, that all Xbox 360's have melted decades ago, Steam either doesn't exist in it's current form or is gone completely, and no one wants to play with a PS3 pad, what are his choices?
[sp]Probably pirating it via some nostalgia game site.[/sp]

Mario Bros is almost 30 years old and you still can acquire it pretty easily. I really doubt games like Fallout are going to disappear any time soon.

Games are becoming more and more disposable. The market is just too big. No one will remember CoD: BO in ten years.

Of course they will, it's going to be the game "that they've wasted 60 bucks on, just to buy the sequal of it a few months later".

It's sad, really. But if I remember correctly, there is some archive somewhere storing most games released nowadays, so hopefully games will never be truly lost forever.
The Lemmings is years old now but every remembers that; what a pointless argument

Shit example is shit.
Try Deus Ex, Mass Effect, Half Life and Metal Gear (Solid)

Big games are big games. Every one will remember GTA IV just like every one remembers GTA vice city and Half Life. I don't know about NV, but Fallout 3 is one of these games.
And when people say that older games were better, they are wrong. In old times we got exactly the same about of shit games and good games like today, but we only remembered good games. So now when you remember old times you remember only good games and think that most of the old games were good. But in present time you see every game that comes out.
hey lets stop talking about other games and keep talking about the fallout series(?)
I feel bad for anyone who pre-ordered for PC and expects the bonuses to be anything special.
I'm willing to bet that there will be a Day 1 release of everyone of them.
It just prevents day 0 leaks, but games still get cracked day 1.

Or your account can get banned, stolen or Steam can shut down.
Both have bad sides, I prefer retail.
I believe that if you run cracked versions of steam games on multiplayer, you can only join russian servers...
If your account gets banned or stolen, then usually it is the owners fault. Steam won't shut down now, and even if it does, valve have a failsafe to allow owners to play the games they have bought.
Wait a moment, this thread went a bit offtop.
also im pretty sure you shouldn't even be talking about that stuff either
Can anyone tell me how much hours worth of gameplay NV will offer for a Fallout 3 veteran?
Can anyone tell me how much hours worth of gameplay NV will offer for a Fallout 3 veteran?
I'm going to bet at least 100-120 hours. Depends on if you're willing to suck up every little piece of content and go through multiple playthroughs. Then you have mods.

unlimited.
I mean for the main quest, and a few side quest you may do because they are on your way.

Main Quest and a few side quests will be maybe 20-30 hours at best.
But I don't have any real clue, everytime I do a playthrough I do everything possible in the game.
I usually panic when I need to pick perks, because I always aim for special builds, doing the most damage with weapons I like e.g. energy weapons or small guns.

I didn't mean Steam games, there's no reason to crack that stuff since there's no CD-check.
I was talkin to vassikin last night about possible dlc for NV
I know that the remains of los angeles are called the boneyard or whatever and are owned by the NCR, it would be interesting if you could go and say help the BoS take it over or help the NCR defend it
Just spitballin here, I'm curious to see what kind of addons they'd be able to shit out for new vegas.
Does anyone else think the courier's voice sucks?

seems probable. they did a similar kind of set movement with the pitt and point lookout.
[editline]17th October 2010[/editline]
i also hope you can play after the ending this time instead of using a mod/buying dlc.
No they said the ending was definite again
