Somehow, I could never really get myself into Fallout 1. I'm a few hours in, and I still don't know exactly what I'm supposed to do. I'm on a time limit, I have weak weapons and armor with virtually no way of getting better weapons or armor, and there are super mutants in the area where I'm supposed to be.
This is one of the few RPGs I have played where I can't manage to reach that point where my character is powerful or wealthy enough to actually do things.
It's challenging. Talk to people. Do side quests... work for the caravans. Hell, start shooting up the place, if you visited anywhere that didn't directly correlate to the main quest you should have the tools to kill a few people and barter their weapons.
I was entertained by the Fallout: New Vegas Trailer, actually. Felt like the eyebot had a personality, as it was swaying along and what not, almost like it thought it was singing along.
Also, you can mod the hunting rifle with a scope, fuck yes.

Welcome to the world of MANS rpgs... Beat this and no one can say shit to you! Seriously though... do you read the dialogue or do you just caffeine trip through it? i can swear that you're always babied in hints about where to go... try undercity, do the mutant base... how far are you?
Yeah, I always got a lot of hints.
They're mostly useless to me because I will always get east and west confused, which complicates things to an incredible degree.
Someone on NMA added Bloom to Fallout 2 thanks to everyone favorite plugin, ENBSeries.

just what Fallout 2 needs :downs:
Looks like shit.
Looks like shit.
Well, besides the fact that you can't read the realy big signs, it would definately make the game harder... On the other hand it does sort of look more realistic.

And even after you beat the main quest there's still a time limit XD
I tried doing it without any walkthrough's or tips/hints for like, 3 days, that's when i said "Fuck it" and started watching a speedrun.
They need to grow a pair and allow you to kill children like Fallout 1 and 2 did. That kind of ability to be that balsy is what F1 and F2 to be so great.

I'm aware of mods that allow that to be done, but I'm talking about creating an environment in your company that nothing in game development is 'off-limits', giving your game the freedom to do whatever it wants without having to worry about what soccer moms in Ohio have to say about it.

I'm afraid if it's on a console, then there'll be controversy, there's just too much exposure on the consoles. PC exclusive games don't get so much exposure, so they generate very little controversy, e.g Fallout 1 & 2, Rapelay etc. For example, F01, a PC exclusive, was released the same year as the original GTA on consoles. While both had pretty much the same level of graphical fidelity, and comparable levels of controversy bait at that time (running over people, killing children) GTA got way more exposure as it was a console game.

I say fuck what the parents think/want, develop a game that you want to develop. Rockstar did it with Manhunt 1, but then they pussed out in Manhunt 2. We need more consistency with these kinds of things. I mean, the Guy Game was on consoles and nobody said boo about it. It's definately got something to do with status in the industry as a developer and the title your developing.
What's so great about killing kids anyway, I always have more fun killing things that fight back.

If you're a sadistic bastard, or if you just want the option so you can feel more immersion.

So you can kill that little fuck with the Chinese assault rifle in front of little lamplight.
It's like the folks at Betheseda were thinking, "Hmm, well we can't allow the player to kill kids, but we do have a large modding community, so why don't we just make them all insufferable little brats so that the inevitable 'kill children mod' comes faster?"

Nice to see a dev encourage their community then :buddy:
I refuse to let this thread die.
Who else here thinks Fallout 2 > Fallout 1?
It's been awhile, but since I can't run either on Windows 7, I'm unable to play them, even though they are installed. :(

I guess, 90% of the community. But i'm a weird sort of Hat... None of the games so far have a bigger place on my list than the other. they're 3 soon 4 very distinct yet alike masterpieces and they are equally good for it.

Try buying them off steam. If that doesn't work... Well, atleast you have Fallout Tactics to play :D
BTW, have you tried running them in compatibility mode or as an administrator? I'd recommend getting the windows versions instead of the MSDOS ones.
Umm, I just completed the Tenpenny Tower quest, I decided to let the ghouls in, Roy told me to go out front to get the ghoul mask but he just says thanks for letting them in and thats it..

Then kill him and take his mask. The suite wont work, at least not for me.
You're better of convincing them of letting them live peacefully.

Should've eliminated all of them.
Question: Fallout 3 GOTY on Steam, worth it?
Question: Fallout 3 GOTY on Steam, worth it?
your getting FO3 with all the DLC for standard 49.99... I dont know, is it?
What?
there are Fallout 1,2 and 3 so far and New Vegas is well on its way. this makes four in the series of pure RPG Fallout games.
Should've eliminated all of them.
All of which group? If it's Roy's group, I wholeheartedly agree. Roy's a dick, and that Chinese Assault Rifle could be very useful.

Roy may be a dick but he's kind of been forced into that position. The Tenpenny resident's might as well be racist. Also, if you pass a speech check with Gustavo I believe you can get the Chinaman's A salt Rifle for free.
You can kill absolutely everyone.

In the tenpenny conflict, that is.
