Why don't people use the dedicated forum?
Because it's obscure and unpopular. [editline]02:35AM[/editline]
Hello, I'm writing this e-mail without a particular reason, but because I thought it was worth mentioning. The topic I'd like to discuss is one, I think, not very popular and certainly not that important to most people. It's about the weapons in games. As general as it seems, what I'm noticing is a lack of relationship between one's weapon and himself. You know, like the samurai in ancient Japan - they had two weapons and two weapons only. A long sword for killing and a short dagger-like sword which they used for "sepuku", the art of killing one-self. I shouldn't bore with history lessons though. So, back on my point. Now, I'm not talking about any game in particular, just general observation. A few weeks ago I learned that in Fallout: New Vegas, you'd be able to customize your weapons, which immediately brought a smile to my face. A warrior is only so much as his weapon is. Doesn't matter if the weapon is a sword, a rifle or his bare knuckles. And in game like Fallout a commitment like that is very important. To roam the wastelands, armed only with a trusty hunting rifle, which has saw so much battles and saved your hide so many times, even to the point where you've given it some clichéd name like Betsy or Stella. Enough of fairytale land though. I think this can be implemented, obviously not in New Vegas, because it's almost released, but hopefully in your future games. What I'm thinking of is actually very simple, but I hope very effective. Let's say you have the model of the said hunting rifle, but as an example - from Fallout 3. It's model consists of it's frame, metal parts, barrel, trigger, duct tape, broken butt of the rifle and the scrapes and scratches. I'm certain it'd be easy to make it so that randomly the rifle could lack any of the details - let's say a rifle you find on a random raider doesn't have duct tape all over it, but rather wires, strapped to it. The next one has a bloody stain on it's butt. Third one has a few random scrapes engraved into it and so on. I realize that something like this is a mundane job that only takes up time that could be spent in something more valuable, but on the other hand, the reason why I'm sending this email to you is that... Well, you are Bethesda, damn it! Every game you have has so much attention to the finest details, that I just thought you might consider it. Hopefully this email will reach whoever it might concern and I'd like to thank you for your time and your dedication to making brilliant games.
Alright, just sent an email to Bethesda with a little idea I had. I hope they respond in a witty and interesting way.
I don't know what it is, I loved Fallout 3 so incredibly much, still playing it today, but I just don't find New Vegas that amazing. I may not just know enough about it, but it look more like a mod, or an expansion.

In story terms, I'ld say Fallout 3 is Oblivion while New Vegas is Morrowind. P.S I'm talking out of my arse.
My Fallout 3 crashes every so often when I'm going into a new cell.

New Vegas looks like a mod or expansion, not sure am i going to buy it. Maybe when it gets more cheaper.
Can't wait for hardcore on nv
atleast fallout becomes way more survivalistic
Talked about the reclassification of the weapon skills yet?

Fallout 1 & 2 is not my Game. But Fallout 3 was a good Game. It hold me for Hours on the XBOX 360. I hope that Fallout New Vegas will be entertainment too.
I just hope the Settler mod is for New Vegas.
I'm having a lot of trouble with the game. I don't have the firepower to go on any quests, and I don't know where to buy any real weapons. All I can get from the little traveling merchant guy is assorted shitty pistols, and the occasional gatling gun, which I already have anyway, but it's rate of fire eats up ammo like a fat bitch in a chocolate factory.
Samurais could also have a spear and a small bow so you're wrong
I was setting an example - the sword was the most common weapon. Stick with it until you can gather money/find an assault rifle.
I love the original because it's so tough. Fallout 3 never gets noticibly hard, it just feeds you health and ammo. In fallout you start with nothing. It's a game where you really need to commit in order to have the arse-kicking fun later. Plus I personally enjoy crawling up from the dust.
I couldn't stand playing the old games for more than a few minutes.

In Fallout 1 you start out with decent shit. In Fallout 2 you start with horrible things.

I'll probably sell my other guns and stick with the hunting rifle. It's damage is kind of shit though, does anyone know what I can use to up it's damage a little?
I'll probably sell my other guns and stick with the hunting rifle. It's damage is kind of shit though, does anyone know what I can use to up it's damage a little?
Small guns skill.
Energy weapons all the way. Pew Pew.

I like the start of STALKER because you have a leather jacket and the worst pistol in the game. Same thing.
Leather Jacket? In wich one? /offtopic
Energy weapons all the way. Pew Pew.
Gotta love them Wazer Wifles.
Leather Jacket? In wich one? /offtopic
SoC of course there's the merc suit in the rookie village but most first-timers don't find it
Energy weapons all the way. I hate Energy Weapons, Melee Weapons for the epic win!
The only Melee weapon I use is the shock sword but that's only if I'm using my stealth suit.
Loved Fallout 3, but Fallout 1 and 2 were kinda lame. Whoever thought you should start out as a level one knifer in a temple full of giant rad scorpions should have been fired.
Real men use their bare fists. And nukes, because there's not enough time to challenge everyone to hand-to-hand combat.
