2008: All my beginnings trace back to a game I call Spore. I really loved that game and always liked playing it, and I still love it now. When I was playing it I learned to install mods and liked every single one of them. And I still play the game today. One book related to the game was Spore The Evolution, which made me want to become a video game developer. 2009: In the middle of that I found ROBLOX while I was looking for a game that allows you to make a game and allow people to play it. I actually liked it, but it got boring as I played games. Once in a while I still go there, but very rarely. In the middle of it Spore Galactic Adventures came out and enjoyed it the same as ROBLOX, only it did not get boring after a while. This also was the beginning of my ROBLOX character using Red and Grey to look like the Grox from Spore. (ROBLOX Profile: http://www.roblox.com/User.aspx?ID=1915355 ) 2010: I was watching Youtube one day and I came upon the first ever time I heard about the Source Engine and Portal. I then heard about Steam, and at late 2010 during Christmas, I bought the first ever Steam game I bought, Portal. I then played the game and enjoyed it. After that I also bought Garry's Mod and learned how to create models, and port Alien Swarm models over to Garry's Mod. This was also when I first joined Facepunch to promote it. 2011: This is the year where I released my real first model, the Alien Swarm Drone ( http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=117883 ). When I released it, a fellow named AngryPepperMushroom gave me the option to make the models for Alien Swarm SNPCS. I immediately said "Yes!" and worked on the models as he did the Lua scripting for all of them. The SNPCS were a success, and then I had interest in the Half-Life 2 Beta, and the Cremator itself. I then learned to decompile the models and made a Cremator model with animations. ( http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=123331 ) I then got a private message from Silverlan, and he asked me if he could use the models. I said "Yes", and I gave him the models sources and asked him if he he can fix up a walking animation problem. He said yes and worked on them, and then version 2 of the Cremator was released on Garrysmod.org. ( http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=126823 ) Version 3 was being worked on, but was uploaded on the workshop during the Garry's Mod 13 Beta in 2012. 2012: 2012 was a great year for me because it was the year that I made Half-Life 2: Beta Deathmatch and joined my first 2 mod teams (E3 and Cobalt-57). I also got an Xbox 360 during Christmas too. 2013: Now I am working on Half-Life 2 Beta Deathmatch, Half-Life 2: The Complete Story, and I regained interest in Spore after months of not playing it. I also bought the Valve Complete Pack during the Summer Sale as well. I also made my first Spore mod ( http://www.sporebase.com/forum/index.php?topic=5693 ), made Halo 4 related models (they were failiures), made Half-Life 2: Survivor SWEPS ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=159160619 ) and another project I will work on and release soon (Hopefully): [T]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/1118302506565143666/A43DCFB83DDED399EC98A0EFC4045F6C4A87DF10/1024x480.resizedimage[/T]

As far as source modding goes, I started to screw around with Hammer in 2011. I didn't own Half-Life 2 and just Portal and Gmod so I made a few different Portal maps. The first one seems to have been lost on my old computer along with some of my other old maps but it was basically screwing around with turrets and textures and whatnot. Then I moved and basically didn't try mapping again until Summer 2011. That's when I began my first mod. I had the idea when I was at the beach and went home to start working on it. I made a ModDB page after a little while and turned it from a map pack into mod. Thus Cloned Cube was born.
That last shot actually looks pretty good.
Everything I have ever done made me hate myself a little more. I basically have no self-respect anymore and beg my friends to do projects with me in hopes they're not complete failures. What makes it worse is that I'm not joking. I'm not saying I'm ashamed of my stuff. I'm proud of it. But for the many years I've been doing it, there has been no improvement at all. And I hate myself for it.
My first experience in modding was making a map for css. It was really just a box where people spawn and kill each other. It was really bad. I started several project, mainly mapping but it was always so bad that I left out mapping entirely. At that time I had started learning programming a little while ago and I was inspired by the mod Bisounours Party (I knew some of the old devs) and I began working on a mod of my own with a few friends. I was the only one with dev skills (even if they were mediocre, it still had some) and as none of us were good designers, we left the idea. A bit later, Bisounours party released and died. As I really liked the game, I took over the project and began working on it. Three years later, I learned a whole lot in programming and in general game dev. Now here I am, my mod soon releasing and already having multiple ideas for new games :)
I cant quite remember my first mod, but I know it was for HL2 years ago. I think it was a really cool looking hotel (probably looked like shit) with every room open for the player to explore. I was never able to compile it though, I remember compiling it and it taking days and days for it to even add a single dot to portal flow.

One of the first things I've done in the modding world was probably making a few custom skins for the Sims and the Sims 2. Nothing amazing, though. I also have tons of hours in Hammer with literally no release of anything to show for it. :D
I started rather late with Hammer Editor in Garry's Mod and Counter-Strike: Source. Made a few maps but never really released anything publicly. Now I mainly do textures, music and maps for Minecraft.
I made some model hacks, one of which was a breen/combine elite mix. Of course previously I made the usual Gmod skin editing job, like recoloring :v: I felt pretty good because when I did some model hacks people actually used them and asked for different stuff, like, they gave actual C&C back then. Of course all of this is history, since all of this happened with another account (which is still active by the way, I'm just ashamed to use it :v:). [editline]20th August 2013[/editline] Also dicked around with hammer back when CS 1.5 was cool.
Wow, intriguing map design.
Thanks, that was 2 years ago.
http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php that is all
Thanks, that was 2 years ago.
How long ago was this one?
[t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/19/18423/2013-07-23_00009.jpg[/t][
I remember discovering how to mod Jedi Knight 3. This is what I made.

Making a simple, city themed attack/defend map in TF2. Basically giant brushes as buildings and prop statics everywhere :v:
Editing Cortex Command .ini files I think I tried to make a CS:S map once. It was about 10x20 yards, all fullbright, and consisted of two walls with a door
My first "released" thing was this: [img_thumb]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/594684125235944250/D8479240C41DFD9B3A3FD33577B57548695D1E69/[/img_thumb] I actually still have the link for it: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=120724 Bonus night version: [img_thumb]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/594684125261838427/8E9899D13D3F61F308D327FE1E55FCB914F9FD70/[/img_thumb]
Feels a lot like myst. [sp]the game you retard not the environment[/sp]
Shiiiit, uhh.. I think I made some terrible Sims 2 content long before I found Source.
I made a map. I forgot how god awful it looked. Funny that it still gets played on today. Mostly by Russians though.
I made a map. I forgot how god awful it looked. Funny that it still gets played on today. Mostly by Russians though.
How did you get Renegade multiplayer working?
Those screenshots were taken like 9/10 years ago. EA shutdown Westwood Online some time ago but the community took over with something called XWIS. Don't know if that is still going but I believe it still is.
I had a friend I wanted to get into PC FPS games, so I tried making a tutorial map for him to get navigation down. I thought I was the shit for making an actual map, but I couldn't figure out out how to do water so I quit. I also wanted to try my hand at Doom WADs, but my attempts at doors ended with the entire ceiling crashing down on the player.
I've never been able to learn brush-based engines, but I want to really badly. I thought TrenchBoom would be my salvation but it doesn't seem to work on my system.
Hey, I got it working!
