XCOM is practically the only game I've managed to get to run without a GPU so far, not counting flash games and such.
Pretty sure it'll work. I mean, it's 1999.
System requirements Pentium 133 or better, 32 MB of RAM, 16-bit capable video card, 2x CD-ROM
X-Com system requirements: 80386 20+ MHz, 2 MB RAM, HDD, VGA display, MS-DOS 5.0+ 2MB RAM? That's fucking ridiculous. Anyhow, trying out JA2 now.
Also, does any one else like the MERC guys? You haven't really played JA2 if you've never completed it with a squad of Fidel, Razor, Haywire, Gasket and Maddog.
Considering you bought it in the past, I'm pretty sure you could acquire it in another way legally. Plus it's almost considered vaporware. Wait a few years and it'll be free for every one.
for a start you mean abandonware and the JA series is sold on GOG so they would never be abandonware which is mostly a bullshit term anyway
for a start you mean abandonware and the JA series is sold on GOG so they would never be abandonware which is mostly a bullshit term anyway
Okay, abandonware then. Except JA1 is considered abandonware right now, and I sincerely doubt JA2 is selling any more copies outside of some avid fans who nag random internet forums to try the game out.
The game runs fine, but there's MASSIVE ARTIFACTING that fullscreen games for some reason cause with my dead GPU. X-Com is fine since it runs in a window. Can this be run windowed?
Jep, the V1.13 mod has windowed mode IIRC.
no the rights are owned by either silverstar holdings or Akella and 3A Entertainment, unless they specifically release it into the public domain (example Elite link) then someone somewhere owns the right.
Okay, good point I guess. But my point stands: The guy had the game, he lost/broke his CD and would like to play it again. Nothing wrong with that.
Alright, now I know 16bit applications are the ones that cause my screen to artifact terribly. I set my desktop to 16bit so I could play the game windowed, the game runs fine but now I have these streaking colored lines fucking everywhere that keep scrolling up FUCK I HATE MY COMPUTER
Huh that's weird. I have no idea what may be causing that.
Anyone have a gog good old games account with this on it? And would be willing to let me download it real quick? I don't torrent.
Huh that's weird. I have no idea what may be causing that.
My dead GPU. I can only play flash games or X-Com. Fuckdamn.
My dead GPU. I can only play flash games or X-Com. Fuckdamn.
That sucks. :saddowns: The only thing I can say is "get a better pc", so yeah. :v:
Yeah I'm getting a replacement in a month or so
What a mint game i always pick the shit mercs and tran them into badasses
This game is pure awesome. [sp]The monsters in sci-fi mode are fucking evil.[/sp]
This thread makes me want to play through it again. I really can't wait for JA2:Reloaded.
This game is pure awesome. [sp]The monsters in sci-fi mode are fucking evil.[/sp]
Man, I remembered the time when I was a kid, played the sci-fi mode with my friend. We beat the queen on the same day. Good times. :unsmith:
I re-bought this game from GOG because I lost my damn CD. This thread was fortuitous; I needed a good game to load on my laptop since I am traveling. I am seriously looking forward to being able to direct militia with 1.13. That always seemed like something missing in vanilla JA2. For anyone who has played 1.13, what are the mechanics? I'd prefer to give broad directives as opposed to individual unit control.
20$!!!! for Jagged Alliance 2 on steam? fuck that i'm gonna go hunt for it in my cd piles
Ahhh yes. I god an old copy of this for 4 euro, from a game magazine. "Computer Bild Spiele" [editline]07:21PM[/editline] This game deserves its Pen&Paper RPG

They need to be withing shouting range, though. If you have extended ear, you can give orders to any militia on the map. Additionally, each order also has an "all" command that makes all militia perform this. So, you can say stuff like "All militia, follow me". Note that it works scarcely at best.
I got a copy of this at Staples after looking at this thread, but this game is kicking my ass. The copy I got came without a manual, which seems to be pretty much required in order to not get your ass kicked. So, I got 1.13 and edited it so my custom mercs are really powerful and I get a bunch of extra action points. Are there any good idiot guides for JA2 and the 1.13 patch?
I used to play this as a little kid and I didn't understand the objective of the game. I just visited towns and I remember a place where you could buy porn and hookers. Most of the time I shot them with a shotgun to the face, heads exploding.

Enough so that the militia aren't standing around in a clump getting murdered, but no so much I have to worry about policing them. Other than the scarcely working part, of course.
I suck at this game. when I tell my guys to walk, they moonwalk. i tell them to look sideways, they strafe. what the fuck am I doing wrong?
i bought this from gog a while back and always got slaughtered, same with xcom i guess im out of practice at turn based games any guides for JA2?
