Nobody plays this game, sadly.
Nobody plays this game, sadly.
You having a laugh? There are about 5-10 full servers around 7pm GMT and at least 3 throughout the entire day, with a few more around 32+ players. [editline]15th October 2010[/editline] Shit, I just realised, it's noobrush time. "WUTS VOIP?!"
Fuck's sake, I keep CTDing on map load. Only a few work. It's weird because all the maps on 0.91 worked fine.
The new grenade launcher sights are fucking awesome. They actually make the GLs really useful and fun to use.
Hey guys how do you boost your torrent speeds? Right now it says its gonna take 2 years to download
It seems that CTDs are a common occurrence among players. Rather odd. I hope they fix it quick. [editline]15th October 2010[/editline]
Hey guys how do you boost your torrent speeds? Right now it says its gonna take 2 years to download
How long's it been going? It takes time for the download speed to accelerate.
Nevermind now it says 12 minutes [editline]15th October 2010[/editline] And by 12 I mean 6
It seems that CTDs are a common occurrence among players. Rather odd. I hope they fix it quick.
I only keep CTDing when loading 2 of the new maps. (Burning Sands and one other map I don't remember) And Wanda Shan lags like hell.
I can load Burning Sands fine. So far I've CTD'd on Beirut, Wanda Shan and Iron Eagle on loading, and during gameplay, Lashkar Valley and Silent Eagle. It's really getting on my tits now. I've reduced all my graphics settings to the bare minimum and it's had no effect on CTD's.
Fuck. We were defending a cache and there was a tank nearby that was shooting at us and we were trying to take it out. I was running towards the tank with an IED, was pretty close and then BAM. Game shuts down.

Fucking tank, if it weren't for his cunthole of a driver I would've IED'd him myself, but no, I got roadkilled.
If you guys are still playing, I want in ASAP
There's nothing I hate more than Insurgents that just keep driving around and roadkilling people. I had a close call few hours ago. I was insurgent, defending one of the caches. Enemy had already got 6 caches, so if they got one more cache they would have won. Suddenly enemy LAV-25 drives into the compound where the cache was located, and starts shooting thro the windows of the buildings. We had no RPGs so we just had to try to take out the LAV-25 with nades and IEDs. Now that the APCs got thermals our smoke nades were ineffective. I was in the same building where the cache was, (was rearming) and then the LAV notices me and starts shooting thro the windows, starting to hit the area where the Cache was. I was sure that now the LAV gets the cache, but the round ended just before that happened.
I just installed BF2 again to try this. But no matter what I do or what pc I am on I always have issues with it. The ground doesn't render if I have AA on and all the emplacements are black. The game has also caused my pc to luck up completely twice now and that.. NEVER happens, ever.
Ahaha, this is awesome. No CTDs yet.
I hate it when some people are really trigger-happy when they see someone. This one time, we were driving into an enemy base with a couple of armed humvees, shot a couple of guys in there and were about to drive out, when we suddenly start taking fire. We look around and see a bunch of guys and a stationary AT on some hill. We see them shooting at us. I was on an AT gun on the humvee, so I fire at their stationary AT. "Check fire! You're shooting friendlies!". So they saw a couple of humvees and for some reason they thought they were somehow hostiles and decided to shoot at them.

I get TKed more often than not. I think most players do. The biggest problem I have, myself, is that I am too busy varying targets and/or getting approval to engage targets that are 150+ meters out who have [possibly] not seen us. By the time I get approval, a firefight has already broken out while I had the perfect opportunity to take out one or two targets, which obviously would have changed the tide of the battle.
I managed to pull off some awesome Rambo bullshit a few times. As Taliban I got a bike and flanked a US squad who were moving south to one of our caches. Me and a squadmate tailed them for about 2 minutes until they engaged the remainder of our squad. Me and my Lee Enfield took out pretty much the entire squad, as well as two attackers earlier in the round. Another time, on Burning Sands as the British, we were in the central city. We were just about to move out to the south when we saw smoke across the street and off to the west a bit. Our map indicated that nobody on our team could've deployed that so mister Railfucked L85 and L128A1 were on the case. I ran way ahead of my squad doing some crazy grappling hook ninja shit. I found their FOB, knifed it and ran off. I almost bought it when I ran out into the open and there was an MEC guy running down the stairwell of one of those non-enterable balconied buildings, but luckily I managed to get back behind the wall before he could even take aim. Then out of nowhere some guy pops out and I just mowed him down. Changed mags, up the first flight of stairs. A poor officer trying to patch himself up. Dead. Up to the top of the stairs. By this time my squad had caught up and were moving through an adjacent T-shaped building which is really jammy when it comes to clearing. I got to the top and I was on the north side of the balcony building, facing out on to the main road. We had a Warrior IFV rolling down. I look to my right and what do you know? A rifleman, rifleman AT and a HAT, none of them brandishing any shit that posed a threat to me. The medic was the first to expire under the pounding of my Buckshot. The Rifleman AT had tried to bring is G3 to bear, but it was no use. Buckshot -> Face. The HAT guy was just sat there staring at me, probably shouting down his mic "Oh fuck Oh fuck Oh fuck". Knifed him just for the sake of being a cheeky cunt. Then the Warrior fired at me and I was like "FUCK'S SAKE STOP SHOOTING I JUST SAVED YOUR FUCKING BALLS".
Now that the 0.95 was released there is way too much FF... One guy on Blackhawk minigun TK'ed me while I was crossing a field in kokan, and after respawning and moving back to the same field OH-58 gunner fucks me up in the ass with rockets. RPG guy TK'ed me in Fallujah after seeing me move into a building. Triggerhappy Machine gunner TK'ed me in Fools road. One of the squadleaders called mortar on me in Fallujah. A guy with shotgun TK'ed me when I moved into a weapon cache building to rearm. All of that happened to me today when I played 3 maps in *NwA* server. And of course an insurgent with car ran me over after spawning on a FOB.
Just downloading this now, of all the times my mic had to break and it choses now.

All the n00bs become pr0 or leave after a month or two. Happens every time there's an update.
I just never found it all too fun. It may be because realism isn't for me.
I like BF2's lack of realism. If I wanted to play a realistic game I'd play Arma II (Which I do, a lot) BF2 is great because of the ridiculous things you can do.
I made a Steam Group so everyone that plays can group up and play together. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/fppr
If you persist with the game teamkillings become much less frequent. All the n00bs become pr0 or leave after a month or two. I have seen way too often Insurgent car come from the flank and run over 2 squads and then the driver just knifes the FOB. He just killed 12 men and took out an important FOB with a single car.
Wow, some pretty sweet experiences so far. On burning sands, I was on the UK team attacking southeast city. When I went AFK for five minutes the MEC had done a massive assault on the city and pushed back my squad almost out of the city. When I realized I was the only one deep in enemy territory, I pushed to get out of there, and ran straight into the frontline where MEC was owning us. But now they had all (read: ALL) their backs turned to me, so I just popped their fool asses with my L85 one by one. (The first one I killed had spotted me, but was just so dumbstruck that I was behind their entire team he just stared at me, and I stared at him. Then bam) In total I killed 14 guys, knifed/destroyed their FOB and base, and had killed an MI-8 by shooting my LAT at it when it was supplying reinforcements. This broke their assault and made them panic, putting more of their forces on me and allowing my team to break through their frontlines and taking back the city (and winning the round). Wish I could've seen it though, after all those killings all their armor was trying to find me, I had about 3 machineguns shooting at me, and eventually a guy snuck up on me and bayonetted me in my spine. [editline]16th October 2010[/editline] Or how about a round in good 'ol Basrah, where I failed attacking the VCP with a bombcar from behind. (they had a .50 gunner with nerves of steel, he saw me coming and waited for the perfect moment to shoot a round in my skull, i.e. when I was about to detonate), so I said "fuck it", grabbed a bomb TRUCK, and drove through the front entrance (Their MG's were reloading and most of them weren't aimed low enough to hit me.) Rammed a rover in the face, dropped my bombs, killed everyone in VCP and my team built Snackbar huts in their old base. Coupled with the fact that for the rest of the round, I was gunning on a technical just KILLING everyone in our path with sneaky hit-and-runs. (We took out an entire FOB with 9 guys protecting it, driving full speed and killing half of them on our first run, the bullets just homed in on them, and so did our front grill), then proceeding to mow down Brits who were crossing a field through smokescreens. Who needs thermal when you can just do donuts in the smoke and still kill everyone in it.
Ok installing PR 0.95 since i finally had the time to do so. Just pm me if you need help with this, i'm pretty much a PR veteran and know each type of the battlefield equally as good. Air, Armor, Infantry, Support. Everything.
So co-op mode is now like training? I remember there was a training mode.Probably they removed it :/
