ME1's combat was a bit iffy, but it let you vary the way you play by levelling up different powers and such
ME2 was really just a cover shooter with a few fancy powers.

Still, it looks exactly the same. I was maybe hoping for a bit more depth, like different paths towards objectives and such. Granted, there could still be that, but they haven't really shown anything to say that it is.
Sequels are meant to build upon their predecessors, but ME3 (Combat-wise, at least) just seems like more of the same. I'll still probably buy it, though, because I mostly play ME for the story.

It was solid but there was little in the way of variation of strategy, unless you forced yourself to use a bunch of different stuff. All you really need is your assault rifle and the occasional shield or slow-time thing and you can power through.
