I like how the new one is simple and easier to see things, but it is too bright.
Microsoft =one of the biggest corporations on the planet still fail to listen to there user base...I'm going to end up switching to Linux its like a unstoppable force meeting an immovable object they've been doing the same thing with IE for years! (although I hear they are working on that(?)) Google needs to start shitting out an OS or a game console.

Google IS working on an OS.

Lower the brightness...
You people are too nitpicky because I mean, you'll say something like this and say the whole thing sucks or it will be an issue with your TV or resolution settings.
It just seems like the other one to me only more organized and easier to handle.
Whine whine whine, that's all I hear from you guys.
Seriously, Microsoft won't remove this update just because a few people like you guys are ranting about it on the Internet. Hell, they might let you change your colors in the feature. The UI is fast, at least for me, and I enjoy it's simplistic look, I like bright colors, not some dark crappy blue.
[editline]3rd November 2010[/editline]
And eventually, either it be a week or a month, you won't give a shit about the update.

My issue is that making MOST OF THE SCREEN WHITE is a terrible design decision and not only does it hurt my eyes but it gives some major potential for burn-in on my television.
Not only that but Microsoft is charging us to play our games online. Furthermore, they keep raising the price of it. They also fill my dashboard with stupid bullshit advertisements, even when I'm paying them $60 a fucking year to play.
It's stupid greedy bullshit and microsoft knows it.
oh noes a corporation is trying to make money? good god stop the presses
oh noes a corporation is trying to make money? good god stop the presses
No. Shut the fuck up. There's a difference between making money, and CHARGING us to play our games online. It's bullshit.
And when I'm paying for a service, I expect it to NOT be full of advertisements.
Other consoles are making money, and they're not filling my screen with ads for bullshit nobody cares about and charging us $60 a fucking year to play our games online.
It's not as bad as some of you guys make it out to be lol

You're making the ads seem worse than they actually are.
There are ads? I haven't seen any. And as I said, they might add a feature in the future (hah) to change the colors, until then, hook it up to an LCD or Tube TV, the white can cause issues on plasmas.

If you don't like it, don't pay for it.
You're making the ads seem worse than they actually are.
I don't mind them at all, but I do agree that the concept is ridiculous from a company like Microsoft.
New dashboard is too bright, too white, and too simplistic.
At this rate, the next dashboard will have an Apple logo on it.
Is anyone else having functionality issues with the new dashboard? It locks up at random and my WiFi connection drops in and out periodically. :saddowns:
If you're lucky, MS may put a burnable version on their site like they did with the BC on the 360.
Laptops (at least to my knowledge) can't burn CDs/DVDs can they?

This is retarded.

A UI update would have nothing to do with your WiFi
Stop trying to make the 360 into a Wii, Microsoft.
I like it, I know it's not the case but it seems to move faster then it did before. Seems being the keyword.
Also the blades in the original were ugly as fuck, I do like how the layout, having the marketplace right on the intro screen but other then that it was a compressed laggy piece of shit. The previous one was my favorite personally :v:

It's the principle of the thing.
If you don't like it, don't pay for it.
That mentality is stupid. Yeah, I don't pay for it, but now I don't get to play any of my games online.

They changed more than the UI.
personally I kinda like the new look....
but the movement of the dashboard nearly gave me motion sickness
Are people seriously still bitching about this?
It doesn't fucking matter, its just the god damn xbox menus...

Oxymoron much?
Was this update not for the new Kinect? Can you imagine trying to select something thats on an angle and with something else on top of it partially or behind it. You'd play hell selecting things. This works a lot better. Or at least it would if the Dashboard and Kinect Dashboard weren't two separate things.
For the most part it was probably done for consistency. Go from angular partially stacked icons to neatly placed side by side icons would be unattractive and Microsoft would be deemed lazy. Oh wait they are anyways!
I'm used to it already. :v:
