I can get BF2: Complete Collection or BFBC2: Vietnam, which one?
I hope this game is Steamworks and not the horrid EA account thing which is marginally better (or is it?) than GFWL.
Battlefield 2 and BFBC2 were Steamworks, their most popular releases (Or most known), so I'm guessing this will.
What's that? You're running Steam Overlay / ATI Tray Tools Overlay? YOU CHEATER, GET OUT OF HERE
Please murder punkbuster someone
I never understood why it didn't like Steam but Xfire worked fine.
Especially in something like CoD:WaW, there was this one hack that injected itself through Xfire. :v:
It was mentioned in the last thread where a guy who went on PAX managed to get a sneak peek on the computer running the game (demo).
It was a Nvidia GTX 580 graphic card and something else I can't manage to remember. I'll look it up again in the old thread
[editline]Edited:[/editline]
The demo was running on max settings with that rig if I recall correctly.
You do realize, the GTX 580 is $543, you can get a new card (GTX 460) for $180(?, in pounds its £117,720mb/£136,1GB) And I've asked HaS about it and they said it should be able to handle this years games.
Automerge x2!

Go with the complete collection. Apparently BC2: Vietnam is slowly dying from a lack of updates.
I kind of disagree with saying that dice never disappoint.

Hasn't disappointed me, even without mod tools and a commander this game will be awesome.
Good thread, waiting for a BF3 shitstorm so I can engage with informative replies.
Battlefield play 4 free isn't that laggy, Has its laggy moments but for the most parts its fun to play.

Anything can change, there's still a long time until the release date; and even after the release they can patch the game. It's far to soon to judge how well the game will play based off of what little information we have; there's a variety of options to fill the void left by the commander slot, which wasn't used all the time anyway. Also, didn't they say no mod tools at release? Not no mod tools ever?

Change op, just say 460 will run it fine.
I bought BF2 a while ago, and I STILL can't play it. It just crashes to desktop with no error when I join a game or try singleplayer.
EDIT: and I've tried EVERY solution I could find.

Man that sucks, Google for solutions, re-install, this is if you bought the game mind, if it's torrented or any other, then I can't help.

Yeah I really can't see a GTX 460 struggling to run it. If it is anything like previous iterations of Frostbite, your CPU will decide your framerate more than your GPU.
Plus DICE would have used the GTX 580 as it was nVidias flagship card at the time, and they have deals with nVidia for sponsorship.
I'm guessing that a system like this will run BF3 decently on a mainstream monitor (20 inches or so, 1440x900):
2 GBs RAM
Dual Core Processor going above 2.8 GHz (Athlon IIs, the better Core 2 Duos, higher end i3s)
Most Quadcores and Triplecores
AMD/ATi: Anything above the 4770 in terms of performance
nVidia: Anything above the 9800GTX+/GTS 250

I'm on a laptop from 03'. I have to get an entirely new system to handle this. Of course, it's time to upgrade anyway, this is just another justification for the expense.

I guess. I don't even know what to upgrade, I guess upgrading my graphics card and ram will do.
When was the next Fault Line episode again?

DICE comments on the map scaling between PC and consoles. (Consoles get downscaled maps with the fly zone being larger to allow for more freedom for pilots)
The melee system is apparently not the instant kill lunge knife we usually see but something different.

DICE continues to impress me with how they are handling BF3.
Hopefully the Melee system isn't just a quicktime event.

Thats pretty cool. [sp]I think if you get punched and not realising it, ie fighting back, you hit the floor for two seconds whilst your enemy has a chance to finish you off, you have no help other than waiting to die, I thought that dropping your kit on the floor seemed cool and you had to pick it up, but that would have to have more time on the floor, but yeah, seems like the shit.[/sp]

What does it mean, I think I have a rough idea of what quick time event means, is it like where two punches and you die? Other than having a drawn out battle with complex punches etc?

I think it means that it's just a one time scene in SinglePlayer.
Is there anyone here who plays on the 360 having trouble getting on multiplayer games?
Worked fine this morning, me and my friend came online about an hour ago and now it's not letting us connect to games.
He connected to another friends game and it worked fine, but we can't find a server ourselves.
[editline].[/editline]
Never mind, had a search through the official forums apparently the server went down earlier, and the only working game type is squad death match on hardcore.
Couldn't of picked a game type I'd hated more to be the only working one.
