No mod tools? Battlefield 2 is still going strong because of it.
Well they haven't said they can't release mod tools. Maybe they'll release after launch?
I thought they said something about the mod tools being too big to package and share?
I thought they said something about the mod tools being too big to package and share?
I don't know about that, but they said the Engine is now easier to work with compared to the one in BC2.
I thought they said something about the mod tools being too big to package and share?
They said that BF3's tools were easier to use than BC2's tools, but that they're still too "complex" for modders. I wonder how they got their current developers...
I thought they said something about the mod tools being too big to package and share?
One interview claimed they were too complicated to make into a modder friendly tool. Because the entire PC community is just dumbasses who don't know anything compared to DICE.
Sgt. Buzzkill came to ruin our smoking party. Also I have another Project Reality video from the Mountain Climbing Unit of the Taliban.
stop goofin'
Or maybe they do everything in coding language and compile etc. no tools at all.
Or maybe they do everything in coding language and compile etc. no tools at all.
Doesn't mean modders aren't capable of learning it too. I've seen some extremely bright minds in the PC modding community.
Its just a bullshit excuse.
Ask them politely maybe they'll release it?
I believe their main concern was the stupendous amount of power required to bake their maps. They use a server farm or something to get "manageable" times. The home user does not have access to this kind of thing normally. Think about it, they said a light data probe has more information than a single BC2 map. That is a lot of data for a single point in a map. Imagine how long it takes to gather the data, figure out what the lighting is going to do, and store that data. For hundreds of different lights, with hundreds of bounces.
most servers issue warnings. But you have to remember PR is for big boys. The idea is to win, be tactical, and not just be tards. Crashing helicopters is not tactical, not winning, and is general a tard movie. Yeah PR's community is elitist, but thats because if they were not, then PR just be like BF2.
If they warn them then it's fine. And I didn't know that vehicles had such a long respawn time.
Have you guys read this? http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/05/ea-battlefield-3-is-flat-out-superior-to-call-of-duty/#comments
I wonder if it will keep the Battlefield "feel". Such as driving around until you run across a small skirmish on a huge map. Player count is another thing: 16, 32, 64 and 128 player maps. Another famous detail with the Battlefield series is bots, I've noticed there aren't any on BFBC 1 and 2 except for campaign. I know a lot of players hate bots, but the bots in Battlefield 2 were truly unique, such as adjusting to mods and trying to "guide" themselves on a non-waypointed surface including planes.

Will hosting our own servers be possible or will it still be that host company only BS that gave everyone enormous pings in BC2?
Been playing PR and wow how the hell do people fly goddamn helicopters? I see people on Muttrah city flying hueys in between the buildings with ease, and i when i try i just crash.
Will hosting our own servers be possible or will it still be that host company only BS that gave everyone enormous pings in BC2?
As far as we know the entire server-side of the game is going to be like BC2 but with a 64p limit instead of 24p or whatever it is in BC2. @counterpo0: make sure you're giving the heli time to spin-up, also look for tutorials.

It will probably just be the singleplayer parts, which didn't look interesting at all.
I think it looks interesting
It will probably just be the singleplayer parts, which didn't look interesting at all.
So, if you had the chance you wouldn't try it out?
So, if you had the chance you wouldn't try it out?
I want multiplayer gameplay which is much much better at showing a game than any single player video will do. When you see single player gameplay you can never be sure what's "real", what's scripted, what you can actually do, and how the game actually plays. Watching gameplay videos of single player and gameplay videos of multiplayer feels like a completely different game 99% of the time.
