Look at the map, objectives are fucking next to each other. I can't imagine the meat grind during 32vs32 battles there. Also Bad Company 2 no one planted the bomb even if there were 5 enemies defending, to keep their KDR :downs: I hope it works out :ohdear:
What's a Pachaneg?
a russian LMG, I have a feeling it might be the LMG the player's holding in the 5th from the bottom snap.
What's a Pachaneg?
It's an MG based on a version of the PKM but without a quick change barrel and with some other modifications. It is used by Russian and other Soviet forces today including Spetznaz.
So, pretty much they made cool changes to the way classes work, the vehicle damage system, suppression fire, AND the ability to opt out of being revived. A new IGN article covered everything based on his playtest at E3.
http://pc.ign.com/articles/117/1172554p1.html - But let me quote the four most important paragraphs:
Classes have also been redesigned in Battlefield 3, giving players new ways to customize their load outs to suit their play style. Riflemen now double as medics, healing players and reviving those who are downed. The Support class is now equipped with a light machinegun and ammo packs, the sniper is a long-range and demolitions expert, and the Engineer is the master of destroying and repairing vehicles. With weapon attachments players can adapt the classes to how they want to play, with Riflemen choosing things like underslung grenade launchers in place of advanced medical equipment, for instance.
The Support class was super important in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 because it could heal, but they're given a new role in Battlefield 3:suppression. Shooting in an enemy's general direction is important in real combat, giving your own team a chance to move and gain position while the enemies are frightened into running for cover. Battlefield 3 takes this into account, and anyone firing a hail of lead near foes – something the Support class is especially good at, much more so with a fancy bi-pod attachment – will suppress the enemy. This not only garners points for the shooter, but dims and shakes the screen of those affected. Shooting to kill is an important role, but shooting to provide actual supporting fire is now emphasized as well.
Vehicles have also been tweaked in Battlefield 3, in hopes of making them more fun for both the operator and passengers. Vehicles regenerate small amounts of health when damaged, but in order to heal to full will need the assistance of an Engineer. Vehicles can also be immobilized right before destruction, forcing an Engineer to intervene to save it, and giving the passengers a chance to bail out. The hope is that this will alleviate a lot of the rage that comes from a team jumping into a humvee, only to be destroyed by one well placed rocket. Yes, the rocket might kill the person it blows up right next to, but the whole squad won't be punished for one crazy driver, or feel like vehicles are death traps.
Two tweaks that stood out during the time I played, and really show DICE's commitment to making the experience better and better, were the inclusion of prone and the ability to opt out of revive. Prone could be dangerous to the balance, as it makes players incredibly hard to discern at a distance, but to balance this DICE is finding new ways to make the cost match the benefits. You might be harder to see, but your lens will flash if a player looks at it, and getting up and laying down takes time that will cost you if someone is close. Revive was also something that players liked in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, but it was annoying when someone would revive you for points, only to do so when you were going to stand up right in an enemy's fire. Now you can opt out of a revive, looking to see how safe it is before you make a decision about whether a respawn at a different location would be more effective. It's a small change, and one of those head-slap inducing choices that seem obvious, but a testament to the time, experience and passion DICE has for making Battlefield 3 as fun and balanced as possible.
I personally hope that the vehicle immobilization applied to choppers as well - it always aggravated me that I fucking blow up mid-air when coasting mid-air for a bit, when I'm sure I could rough-land it. Now hopefully I'll get that chance.

Noken from the "mine" videos!?
Yeah, he works at DICE now (since before BC2) on the media team making videos (and who knows what else).

So back to the 2142 class system? I like this.
It's hard to tell from the minimaps, but it's not looking like there's not a lot of wriggle room on these maps (especially in the subway).
Maybe there's more than meets the eye or this is just an infantry intense map.
Try google for pachaneg, it's not hard.
Its an infantry intense map. They said that, so no worries.

Good thing I only pick Recon in BadCo2 to get into a bush and spam that Spot button for my team
Assualt can drop medipacks now... I'm not sure if I should like this or go, "WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING"

Better than Grenade launchers and Ammo packs.
Better than Grenade launchers and Ammo packs.
Eh... If it's like 2142, I'll be alright with it, cause they made you change out equipment so you couldn't be a juggernaut, but if they make it so I can pratically be a medic like in BF2 I'll scream. Let me just say this... I hated the medic class in BF2.
The part about vehicles seems stupid to me to be honest. There was enough time to jump out in BC2 (compared to BF2 where you would've been killed even if you jump out before the explosion), and they increased it further.
Now we have the rambos who will give suppressive fire with their M249+Bipod :v:

Better than LMGs and medpacks. Remember, the BF2 medic was essentially the "Rifleman" class they are adding here. The medic had a AR, medpacks, etc. And was still fairly useless in combat compared to the BC2 medic.

That's true. Wish I unlocked that with my one and only unlock point really. I enjoyed medicating peeps.

You only ranked up once?
Yeeah new avatar :smugdog:
You only ranked up once?
Ranking up took forever in BF2. I played it quite a lot and only got like 1 or 2 unlocks.
The classes are going by a similar system as in BF2142, awesome!
Has any new footage been shown?
You only ranked up once?
Twice :eng101: the first rank you reach doesn't give you a point. And seriously, the rank system on BF2 is shit, it takes far too long to get enough points to rank up and earn a unlock point.
Ranking up took forever in BF2. I played it quite a lot and only got like 1 or 2 unlocks.
I hope the ranking system is similar, along with the award system. I thought the BC2 ranking system was shit.
I hope the ranking system is similar, along with the award system. I thought the BC2 ranking system was shit.
Yeah. I like to be able to choose which guns I unlock.

I wouldn't mind if it struck a balance between the two. BC2 ranks you up too fast and gives you everything for at least one class before rank 20 if you play it regularly, which is overwhelming. BF2 stops you having a choice in weapons (some of the unlock weapons are flat out better too) because it takes days of game-play to rank up once, which isn't fun.
Perhaps increasing the requirements to level up, and allowing us to choose what gadgets and guns we want (ala BF2, BC1) instead of rushing us through the base ranks and handing us items on a platter.

I personally found BC2's system fine. I liked having access to all the equipment fairly quickly. Maybe give in to the pressure and add a prestige system for those who want it? I don't give a shit, I intend to unlock everything and sit on it.

I didn't mind it, but it kind of stopped me using guns I wanted to use as much as I wanted to try newer ones out constantly. Might just be me though.
