Just purchased 2142. I remember playing the demo and I fucking loved it. Also, what do people play more? Vanilla or the Northern Strike expansion? I got the Deluxe Edition so I have both, but I don't want to waste my time setting up preferences and whatnot only to find out nobody plays that version.

Heh, I got it the day it came out and I haven't lost it yet. Stopped playing it awhile ago though; was too lazy to reinstall after various computer wipes.

I just went ahead and downloaded Origin for it. Honestly, it's really slick and easy to use. Seems more streamlined than Steam, but I don't see it becoming more popular than Steam.

Because I have a copy of 2142 that belonged to my friend, but I don't think i'll be able to use it if it's tied to accounts.

I'm thinking about getting 2142. How is the hit detection? Is it better than or similar to BF2?

If I remember right, since the netcode and hit detection were huge complaints of Battlefield 2, they did do a much better job on 2142, and as a result, it feels much better as a shooter. I just played 2142 when the 1.51 patch came out, and it's still pretty great. Definitely wasn't great at launch, but it's a good shooter now.
