O well... Skins, skins, and more skins.
I haven't found any good ones :saddowns:
They said that there are going to only be animations for entering and exiting vehicles in SP.
Makes sense as the animation would take way too much time in MP to execute for it to be efficient.
Okay, I don't mind getting it on Origin to be honest. EA seems to be stepping up their game a bit at the very least.
Makes sense as the animation would take way too much time in MP to execute for it to be efficient.
I don't mind it anyway. Would be cool though if they put the vehicle enter points at the actual spots (hatches for tanks, back for some APCs, etc.)
why are you telling us that you're upgrading no one cares, this is the thread for BF3, not for your PC
Can I post my PC when it's built? :saddowns:
I don't mind it anyway. I think the biggest problem with having actual vehicle exit points and entrance points in a game is that it makes them a giant death trap. In a game, people will just charge at the APC and shoot all of the people getting out since they don't care if they get killed because it's a game.

Didn't they mention that they had done something like that? It would be so much cooler to scramble out of the burning wreck than instantly die. [editline]9th June 2011[/editline] I see your point though, maybe multiple exits?

It would set up some awesome looking scenes, as well.
After 18~ Battlefield games (including expansions) having to re-learn how to enter a vehicle would not end well.
Would it be that hard to make the player automatically move to the nearest point of entry? They've got plenty of experience with pathfinding.
I also like the idea of having fixed vehicle exit points. Entry points don't really matter, but the exit points do, and it's annoying in Battlefield 2 when I want to use my vehicle as cover and it puts me on the wrong side. Plus, it would look way cooler, and they could even use a good third-person animation, but it would have to be quick, so I don't know how that would work.

You should see the aftermath of IED attacks. You can clearly see the whole vehicle is fucked, but no one dies.
well, I've been trying to set up Origin, but it appears someone else took the name Daijitsu back on may 31st. talking with tech help today, it seems someone actually associated it with their game account, there's xbox linked to it, so... yeah. I'm hoping it's just someone who liked the name, instead of a tard parking the account for some reason. on top of that, my old account only has the BF2 armored assault linked to it, nothing from 2142 which I was hopin' for. I'm gonna keep rifling through boxes for my disks. I'll pre-order on origin with my newer account (username is 'daij' now if anyone wants to add me), then add it as a non-steam game for sake of chat if I feel like it, no real bother if you think of it. Also, the tech support guy is an old facepuncher, what are the odds :buddy:
I was going to preorder this with some friends, but now I regret being a cheapskate and going for xp and not having upgraded when W7 came out. So now I have to wait until the end of the year to get this.
So far it is confirmed that Battlefield 3 will have three modes: Conquest, Rush, and Team Deathmatch. Now DICE’s Patrick Soderlund has revealed that one of the much anticipated features in Battlefield 3 — jets — will only be available in the Conquest mode.
what's your source on that? because i thought Onslaught was supposed to return
I wonder if it's due to technical reasons, like the fact that rush stuff usually takes place in smaller areas and the overall playing field changes (potentially loading and unloading level data as people progress to increase performance), which could be an issue when jets take long sweeps back and forth. as they'd either have a tiny area to stay in, or would end up seeing holes or generic flat terrain where the next segment of the battle would take place, looking sloppy on the dev's part and ruining the immersion

touche. doesn't stop handfuls of snipers to spam aerial strikes on the objectives in BC2 right now though

I also heard that rush maps will have less players than conquest (is it 80 or 64 players?). If these two rumours are true then fuck rush for real. All I want in BF3 is multiplayer with jets :v:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo I hope the populated servers won't be Team Deathmatch.....
I hope its standard Team Deathmatch, I didn't like Squad DM.
Rush is probably going to be just as prominent as conquest. Rush because of the potential massive XP gains for leveling and unlocking cool shit, and conquest because it's the bread and butter of the Battlefield series, and of course, fucking jets. TDM in a battlefield game just sounds boring, and it is.
I dunno, I like just being able to shoot people without objectives to do from time to time. Especially since this may be the first year I don't buy a CoD game.
It looks like they're advertising it as only on origin, so I'm not expecting it to come on Steam. If this is false and I am wrong and it does come on Steam, then this is misleading. But in this case I hope I am wrong, because otherwise I'll have to buy it retail whereas I'd much prefer to get it on Steam.
Origin has replaced EADM, not steam. D2D already offers a preorder and they are 3rd party retailers as well as STEAM.
