I got chills when he said "THE ULTIMATE FIRST PERSON SHOOTER"
Jesus christ, If those buildings are fully destructible I will cry manly tears. I can just imagine running through apartments with my squadmates, using grenade launchers on each wall as we sprint through in a sort of explosive blitzkrieg to flank the enemy from an unexpected position.

Picturing it with two guys with revolver GLs taking turns as they sprint forward without slowing.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

Until finally reaching the last wall and exploding out into a street filled with dudes in a cloud made of smoke, debris, and bullets.

One of the devs said in a interview that not all walls will be destructible because of balancing.
I'm assuming they'll do something like the new Red Orchestra is doing. Buildings can be destroyed, but certain parts of them like the basic frame and whatnot will remain. While a few buildings might be able to be completely leveled, I doubt most will.
Kind of sucks to see the medic class go though, but the video was awesome!
It was interesting how he kept point out the gas masks and the strange camo. I'm sensing a level of customization.

He mentioned that regenerating health might be gone but later on I noticed the percentage increase, he could have been near a medkit but that's a bit of a long shot.

I remember they said waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the GI article that there would be some level of customization.
they're probably all wearing hazmat suits because Russia is launching some kind of covert Bio weapon attack on France, they are Spetznas after all.

Engineers don't get guns. Only more RPGs.

To be terribly honest, the tank gameplay was pretty boring, while I think the submarine part of the MW3 demo looked fun.

they really should fix that, it looks stupid.

I loved that one, nice, small feature in bc2 - if you were a russian engineer, you had an RPG on your back. If you also had an RPG in your loadout, when selecting it, your playermodel actually took his rpg off his back. If you had a different RPG, you had two, different rocket launchers - one in your hands, another one on your back.
That thing in the trailer is either screwed up animations, or a modified version of normal rpg?

hm, New Karkand is looking a lot less, brown.
I was at E3 and got the opportunity to play the pre alpha demo of BF3. Oh my god... everything was so smooth with animations, we were put into squads of four on pc's. Our other teammates were bots and the enemys were bots as well, it was kind of hard to tell that our teammates were even bots the way they were moving.
I had the chance to shake hands with one of the developers, Lars Gustavsson, I also asked him if the option to play the role as commander would be coming back, he said yes but it won't be like commander in BF2 we all know and love. We all got dogtags with our names on them. I'll post some pictures later of the EA area this week possibly when I leave Los Angeles.
Some cool things I noticed... when you play support and hand out ammo, instead of selecting it and then having to throw it, you just throw it when you hit 3. When you put a LMG on a bipod you don't have to aim down the sight so it feels like one of the stationary mg's in BF2 except with aiming and being able to mount it anywhere. The lighting was gourgeous when we exited the subway, I cannot get over how smooth the animations are and how you can look down and see your legs, I haven't seen my legs in a game since FEAR. There's a health % meter in the corner, it's just a number though. I didn't notice a kill cam.
wait there's bots in MP?
FUCKING YES IM GONNA KILL MYSELF WITH HAPPINESS YESSEESYESSEYYSESYEESYSYEYESYESY
you were able to get bots in bf2 mp too you know
To be terribly honest, the tank gameplay was pretty boring, while I think the submarine part of the MW3 demo looked fun.
The underwater part in MW3 didn't look it even had any gameplay, it just looked like the player simply had to go forward all the time. Where is the fun in that?
Call of Duty is dead, Battlefield 3 the week before, Skyrim three days after MW3, it's sandwiched between two games of the century.
That was insightful.
Call of Duty is dead, Battlefield 3 the week before, Skyrim three days after MW3, it's sandwiched between two games of the century.
As much as I dislike Call of Duty, having good games come out around it means absolutely nothing to COD players, who put COD above all other games. I think Battlefield 3 is more likely to suffer in a sales reduction than COD.
What's wrong? Two amazing games are coming out within a week of a horribly overrated game, that will hopefully killed off by said two amazing games. :colbert:
COD players are humans just like you and me, eventually they'll get sick of blowing $60 on the same game they bought last year with a different coat of paint, and try something new, especially if it's in a similar genre (US is dominate explosion army shooter) but with the addition of tanks, planes and more explosions that look indefinitely better.
That may be, but it isn't showing any signs of stopping now. The Battlefield devs even said that they don't expect to compete with COD.
you were able to get bots in bf2 mp too you know
exactly, which I loved. I thought there wasnt gonna be any in BF3, but there is, so yay.
I had some problems setting them up though, are there guides nowadays?
I'm upgrading my PC just to play this. Getting an HD 6870, and a Phenom II 955 quad-core processor, awww yeah.
