What's the big deal of an extra 10 bucks on BF3? The money will be going to the new battlefield log or whatever it's called too. Well worth the extra ten dollars.
Are you kidding? BC2 is one of the only games in recent memory that got the feeling of movement right.
Except when trying to walk over 45' roadbumps and rocks.
I really hope BF3 doesn't include any damage increasing perks/damage reducing perks.
It would be so nice if videogames did body armor right, as then you wouldn't have to nerf shotguns massively either.
Wearing Kevlar + metal/ceramic plate should stop buckshot and handgun rounds at long range if you hit the center of mass, but slugs should tear right through and at very short range any weapon would be able to penetrate. I suppose it would also make you slower.
With shotguns actually having a range of 3+ meters you'd have to aim at limbs or the face if you wanted to kill someone wearing armor.

Its also only an extra 10 bucks if you buy BF3 after and then want to get Back to Karkand. Unless the whole reason why they're charging $60 for the preorder is because of the pack and the actual game costs $50.
Does anyone care about it being on Origin? I will get it for PC nonetheless.
You will care when every major publisher/game company has their own download service that you need to get their games.
Meh, it's not like its going to matter to the people who didn't play BF2 that much, they can do without the extra maps.
To be honest, the project $10 thing EA are doing is probably one of the best ways to handle DLC. Look at most other companies, they charge ~$10+ for most DLC packages, some of which are of questionable quality (Horse Armour, cough cough). EA charge $10 for you to get all the content that is vital to the game for free (if I remember it right, BC2 users on consoles who bought it second hand had to buy a VIP code, the start of the $10 thing to get the map updates). To me that is a much much better deal and isn't worth complaining about.
Unless I've got this horribly wrong somehow.

Water balloons
I love BC2's movement mechanics. The FOV is pretty shit but you can easily change up the INI file and scoot it back a bit. I feel like the game is pretty damn solid on hardcore mode.

Yes obviously but it doesn't work that great in CoD/BF than in say TF2..
I mean.. what the fuck?
[editline]14th June 2011[/editline]
Oh and yeah it goes for sprinting mostly. Another gimmick which is okay, but once again I'm gonna have to use TF2 as an example which didn't have sprinting.. nor a minimap.. and the movement is more fluid in it I think.

I don't mean to herp-a-derp.. It's just one thing I didn't like about CoD/BF

It's a partially-realistic game you dunce. Of course you aren't going to be able to strafe while sprinting. Honestly I question your intelligence when you happily compare games aiming for some form of realism to a cartoony shooter where everybody explodes into chunks every few seconds..
Offtopic but still related to battlefield. My pc was always too weak for 2142. But I got a beast now. I can buy 2142 deluxe for 9€ from origin. Can anyone tell me if the game is still populated?

What the hell is this shit called realism?

I'd like to see some realism mode where crippled body parts slow you down, but only for singleplayer probably.

Red Orchestra?

I want that in multiplayer too.

Will be amazing. Vietnam mod in the works for it already.
I'm gonna repost since I posted in the wrong thread. So I wrote a letter and want a review on it:
[release]Dear EA!
As a consumer of your products and follower of EA community, I and the rest of Battlefield community would like your EA marketing department to cancel the map "Back to Karkand" DLC plans, since some of the customers might not be able to afford the map "Back to Karkand" DLC and miss out the fun, the most important, key aspect of the game. We believe such action will make the video game review critics give a bad review to the game, thus ruining every Battlefield fan's hype, leading to the loss with Call of Duty franchise both in popularity and financial competition. We understand that every EA employee must be payed for the hard work they put in your products, keeping your company running.[/release]
Summary of your letter, "If I cant have it then no one can!".
If you cant pre-order the game and don't want to buy the pack separately, then that's your problem, not EA's. It's completely idiotic to want them to cancel a free DLC, and have the rest of the community that pre-ordered miss out on a free nostalgic maps.

It's still well populated.
Origin will only update you to version 1.25, though. You have to download the 1.5 and 1.51 patches on your own. Once you do that, there's tons of populated servers.
ITT : Hur dur just cause activision tries to fuck people over with DLCs, everyone else is trying to fuck us over too :downs:
Nobody mentioned Activision, but meh. I can't wait to see an HD Karkand map.
Companies like activision are the reasons we don't like dlc's right?

only just... nowhere near as popular as BF2 is though
Reddit sure is making a bid deal out of the DLC thing. The way EA is going about it is really vague. I'm skeptical until they announce what the specifics are for both Back to Karkand and Physical Warfare.
Either way though, I'm buying this game and will play the shit out of it.
I hope they bring back those quick-chat options from BF1942/BF2, or atleast on the PC. They were pretty usefull.
I wouldn't mind if they did but I believe the spotting system is superior. Other than spotting, need quick chat options for ammo and medics, it's so annoying to try and hit the spot button on a player and ask for ammo, only to get ignored.
I would be happy with only a 'Medic' and 'Ammo' button, since I usually need those the most.

They should just bring back the menu from BF2.
It's useful, and I can spot enemy boats.

This. Not only was it a pain in the ass to scope out who was assault/medic to get your needed supplies, but when you did spot them there wasn't an obvious enough notification for the medic/assault people to know how needs the supplies
