Crap, man, if you did this by yourself you're damn good. I'm gonna keep my eye on this.
Is it/will there be a multiplayer?

If I get done with the singleplayer, I really want to try that.
I can't beat the tutorial level. I mean really, that obstacle course jump (2x horizontal spaces, 2x vertical spaces) is impossible for me to make.

I'm shit at games and do it all the time! The trick is to walk until he's about halfway off the edge, then crouchjump, he'll just about make it. I am considering taking it out of the tutorial though. Might be a bit too tricky for a beginner level. However, changing the jumping mechanics or physics at this point would be a bad idea, I've got them in a perfect spot I feel.

I died three times on it and I still can't make it

Then I guess I'll have to raise up the floor under there so that you don't take fall damage. Heh.
It's not a furry game, guys. Furries can't say "foxhole" without accompanying the word with disturbing anal innuendo.

Because baby cried, I changed the game for baby. Goo goo ga ga.
Baby want ironsights? Baby want health regen?
Yessheduz, Yessheduzzz... aw, he spit up. Adorable.
I'm kidding. People have been saying that jump was difficult, and I agree, at least as a tutorial jump. So, I removed that jump, made the jump to the ladder harder, increased the fall damage speed threshold, but scaled up fall damage.
Will there be a mac version?
Will there be a mac version?
I was literally about to ask this. It looks like a lot of fun.

Pretty sure you are a furry, so much for that logic
Also game looks neat. Reminds me of what it would look like if Tails from sonic hit puberty and joined the Army
I like this update because now you can see features in the lighting system that were latent since the beginning of development.
EDIT
Oh god there's a page 2?
1. There is one enemy so far, the spikefly. It's a cross between a bee, mosquito, and a fly.
2. There are no plans for a Mac version. I don't own a mac and don't plan to, so porting the game to one is beyond my scope of ability.
Well, so far is there a use for the gun besides shooting those hive things?
No.
What types of enemies will there be?
Mostly different kinds of insects. Perhaps some deadly plants.
I'm not entirely sure of specifics at this point.
It's mostly just going to boil down to coming up with a fun idea and asking myself "can I animate this in a reasonable amount of time?". If yes, then I make it.
That sounds pretty cool. This game sort of reminds me of Cortex Command, with the base building and such.

Also, I think you should add a way to remove dirt blocks in the background.
Interesting suggestion. I'll look into it. I was actuall considering this much earlier, but forgot about it. If nothing, it would make worldgen more interesting.
I'm not thinking of letting the PLAYER remove the blocks though, just worldgen. Part of the design is to have the shovel (or explosives) as the only tool allowed to destruct the landscape, the N.A.D.S. only lets you add on top of it. So having underground gaps that would force you to build scaffolds (thus making building more expensive there) would make the terrain offer more variety to the gameplay.
Seriously, this looks interesting. I've seen/played similar looking games on the net and they've been cool.
One small thing, if you alt-tab while climbing or something you can keep going above the ladder until you hit more blocks.
I was going to say, this is one of those games you'd expect to see on the Mac App Store (in a good way), though you already said you don't plan on making money off it. Though there's always the Windows 8 App Store. :v:

Oh man, nice catch.
Lemme see if I can fix that.
Updates! Did a good amount today. But the project file got corrupted and I lost a few images. Spent a lot of time on having to replace/re-add them.
I wonder if I update too often...
Seems like a good problem to have.
So what do you think about these saves... One save per playthrough sound fair? If I do this, I would make sure to design the game in such a way as the player can't get stuck and unable to progress, and that you can replay certain content (like missions). I think it also makes it easier to keep track of saves. Plus, on a simple game like this, you don't really want to spend all the time to click save, click the file, click overwrite, click "are you sure?", etc. etc. It's just, go to the computer building, 'W', bam your game's saved.
Would you rather it be done differently?

And this is what I did today instead of developing the game.
Looks quite good.
Character is pretty cool >.>

A couple of character concepts.
Today was frustrating. I couldn't get nearly as much done as I had planned due to the control mapping feature being a complete bastard to write. Among other issues just randomly popping up as I went along. It just wasn't a smooth day.
I wish you luck, this game looks pretty promising.
Made with gamemaker?
Made with gamemaker?
Even if it was, i wouldn't care since this looks very promising.
