Except the fanfics are even more linear than Shizune's route.
i've talked about this before but you can't really write a chapter-by-chapter story in multiple choice format, because you have to explore all the way down one path over a span of weeks and weeks, then immediately say "that didn't happen" and go back to the beginning of the branch
it's jarring to the readers (and to you if you're coming off of one 'type' of ending to another) and almost never works out well
Unless you make it all in advance, but that's easier said than done
Some fan-routes have multiple endings, but the endings are decided right next to the end (Suzu's seudoroute), so they aren't really like adventure books or a branching story

I didn't think they sucked, you're a better writer than me that's for sure.
I did refuse to read Misstep though.
I realized while writing misstep that writing stuff you know people aren't going to like is probably a bad idea. When I wrote my first KS story people said it was just shock stuff because KS is such a mild thing that it's easy to do and at the time I didn't agree, but looking back I feel like they were right.
(That and writing is really hard to break into as a profession instead of a hobby, and I don't really want to bother.)

a protip for any up and coming writers: if you have to preface a story with "you're not going to like me after you read this" because you are basically daring people to read it, you should probably change the tone of the story a little

That IS the Emi figure, or at least just the face. It was nearly done until KSG pointed out all the derpy things about it, like the eyes being crooked and the mouth looking really dumb.

I quite liked Emi's route, the nurse in that arc is such a funny guy. Since my internet was down, I didn't have a flow chart to follow so I was going for the Shizune arc. But somehow managed to get on the Emi arc somehow...

Ya can run, push yourself and then still get Shizune, it just puts you through Slow Recovery IIRC.
It's odd that Hisao doesn't bother running in Shizunes route though, you'd think Shizune would push him into doing so, since she is obsessively worried over her friends.
Maybe if her route was better thought out, since her character is explored the least out of all of them in her route.
I tried to get Emi the first time around but i accidentally Lilly. Glad i did though.
On the subject of Emi, I was at a friend's house and everyone but me was asleep, so I loaded up KS and got to it.
I get to the anal scene just as his mother decided to check that no one's dead.

Yeah, I noticed that after looking at a flowchart.
I've already finished Rin on my first playthrough, as a character, Rin as a character is better than Emi as a character, but I prefer Emi's arc.

So apparently a guy in /ksg/ is completely re-creating Katawa Shoujo for online play. No install, works on all devices, instant updates/patches, etc.
He's also going to open the engine to accept modded scripts.
He'll even make a WYSIWYG editor to help people without any programming experience create.
Shits gonna be cray.
