Dido's voice is really starting to piss me off.
So i love Civ5, while i will get Gods and Kings, is it worth £20 or would i be better of waiting for it to drop?
You can get it cheaper away from Steam. For example, Amazon are selling it for £12.99. Sure, you have to wait longer, but it's definitely cheaper.
Man, G&Ks is fantastic. The game just feels a load more fleshed out now.
Does G&K make diplomacy more than "Either be my ally or fuck you?"
Anyone want to play Civ IV?
Finally got Civilization III to work! Took some work but now its back to life. ...now if only I could get my copy of Civilzation IV to work. I bought it from Target back when it first came out and it has never worked no matter what I do to get it to run... last time I ever bought a game from there. ...you could say that purchase was off target.
Anyone want to play Civ IV?
i just reinstalled it so why not
I'm fucking terrible at war, can someone explain to me how I should tech up, what civs/social policies I should choose, how early I should attack, and how I should attack for a domination victory on standard? I tried playing as napoleon, beelining iron (except for pottery), and weaponizing religion which seemed to be working. However, even with a large army of swordsmen and various other units I got my ass kicked out of Russia (I know, I know) and by the time I finally took Moscow it was 1600 AD and I still needed to take Japan off my continent and clear out 6 other civs overseas. I tried this again, then realized this strategy was highly dependent on being able to acquire enough Iron. This is just one of the ways I've experimented without any success.
What I've always done is turtling until I get artillery, get a decent amount of it and try to conquer the enemy before he gets his own. If only one side has artillery, the whole thing becomes a massive steamroll in my experience.
i just reinstalled it so why not
I guess add me on steam.
Oh wow. Carthage and Germany have just become friends because they both hate and I've been to War with them numerous times. Is that the new AI shining through? I don't remember them ever doing it in Vanilla.
Does G&K make diplomacy more than "Either be my ally or fuck you?"
repost for new page?
I have a question about multiplayer; I live in a student accommodation complex with some friends. I know that games of Civ can take weeks, depending on how hard core you want to go. What would be great for us would be if it's possible to have the same game running over several weeks, with each player taking their turn whenever they have the time (evenings, most likely). This would probably mean they would have to disconnect from the server every so often. I'm aware that the AI takes over for players who have disconnected and have yet to reconnect. Can we disable this AI so that the game will only resume when whoever is supposed to be taking their turn takes their turn? I hope that makes sense
repost for new page?
I think that's the main feature of it, at least the one most people are looking forward to the most.

Other than that, you could use one player and do hotseat mode, but still that would be tedious unless you were all in the same room at the same time. [editline]22nd June 2012[/editline] Other than that, there's really nothing.
I am pretty excited about the return of Religion in Civ 5 G&K
Does G&K make diplomacy more than "Either be my ally or fuck you?"
You can still provoke a war pretty easily, but the AI is ALOT more consistent.. If you get into a little feud you actually have a chance of (once ending the war) maintaining relations.

Fuck you, Alexander. Fuck you.
I've gotten into the habit of nuking and bombing everything around me on the turn before I get a science or culture victory.
I've gotten into the habit of nuking and bombing everything around me on the turn before I get a science or culture victory.
Literal Scorched Earth Policy. (in the case of the science victory)
Literal Scorched Earth Policy. (in the case of the science victory)
Showing my nation's superior morals and intellect by fucking over all the people I can for shits and giggles because I know there wont be consequences.
I've gotten into the habit of nuking and bombing everything around me on the turn before I get a science or culture victory.
Yeah, I always like to go on global conquest when I'm working on a science victory, that way if it doesn't turn out the way I want, I still win

Russia backstabbed me twice, lost both times, and never held a grudge through my entire game. She even voted for me in the UN Vote :v:
Russia backstabbed me twice, lost both times, and never held a grudge through my entire game. She even voted for me in the UN Vote :v:
Kind of like me just now with Carthage. We've fought at least 3 times and I always push her back. After every war, her standing with me is "We've been at War in the past, but they don't seem to hold a grudge".
Just bought the DLC. I don't play this game very often, and when I do it's with a friend of mine (who steamrolls me all the time :v:)
jeez is the multiplayer ping still fucking up by 5 for everyone else?
What are some good Civ 4 mods, besides the ones that come pre-installed? Also: http://gyazo.com/40cd9e2f054773586a416433bb65bd29.png?1340430183 Fancy that.
It's a very bad idea to accept open borders with people if you don't know how militarily strong they are. Even if you're best buds. Open borders instantly gives the AI a summary of your military strength which it then uses to decide whether to back stab you or not.
He was right next to me and I could see everything he had, I thought it would be a good idea and has been since the start of the game. We were ALL getting along just fine. Research agreements, trade agreements, Embacies, becoming friends with one another. But then Egypt somehow got denounced by the entire rest of the game (16 other Civs) and from there the entire world just went to shit

Then get the mini mod for that Rise from Erebus.
