So what difficulties do you guys play on mostly? And do higher difficulties increase the enjoyment level of the game? Playing on 5 and 6 is too easy and seems to drag on.
I'm liking how empires seem capable of fielding a proper navy now, and they're much more aggressive in their expansion.

It's all preference, but I think that with higher difficulty means taking longer to think out what you are doing so if you are having issues with length than just set the pace to quick and crank up the difficulty to 7.
Just won a military victory with a fascist state in 1945.
Catherine's going for the bomb. I know she's going for the bomb. Makes me glad I stayed on her side.
Just started a game on huge, continents, 22 civilizations, 30 city states, playing as India, trying to get a cultural victory. Unfortunatly, it's now 1750 AD, Darius, who's competing against me for the utopia project, has musketmen and is constantly oscillating between war and peace, quickly resuming the war after the 10 turns each peace treaty is imposing. He's also allied with two city states on the continent, but I managed to raze two of his cities with two long sieges. The bastard now has cannons and I feel as if the only way out is talking Polynesia and the Ottomans into war with him, but they won't accept. Darius is also the most technologically advanced civilization on earth, so I think razing his cities would be a great leap to victory. Unfortunately war elephants are starting to feel weak against his infantry, and my 3 great generals aren't enough to stop him.
This is the most educational game I have ever played because the feelings of paranoia and power I experience reflect those of current and past civilizations.
Darius is not attacking. The worm wishes to bleed me through coin. So be it. It has come to this, o warriors. We ride towards Persia, we shall ride against their machinery, take no city, we have no need for brick and steel. We are no longer masters of our future, but we dictate the present. The songhai people's lost hopes, failed dreams and stolen ambitions shall be live on in the dirt of our ancestral land and the tears of their mothers. 6 muskets, 3 riflemen, 2 frigates, 3 caravels and 4 mandukulu cavalry units will take our rightful place at the right hand of the gods of war! [editline]25th June 2012[/editline] tl;dr I 'm rushing an opponent 2 tech levels ahead of me, with 9 times my military strength.
This game is a damn drug! "Just...one...more...TURN!" I love it!
So I just built a city at the mouth of the Mediterranean, claiming the entire sea for glorious Germany. Meanwhile, everyone I've met so far are all lovey-dovey. Including Ghandi.
I'm liking how empires seem capable of fielding a proper navy now, and they're much more aggressive in their expansion.
I had my first real naval battle today. It's really satisfying to say the least. I may play island maps more often now.

Fuck Ghandi I nuked every one of those units of his too, All of them.
Oh wow, I pressed F12 to take a screenshot and the game fucking loads the last save, fucking hell.

So what's the deal with religious "pressure"?
So I just built a city at the mouth of the Mediterranean, claiming the entire sea for glorious Germany. Meanwhile, everyone I've met so far are all lovey-dovey. Including Ghandi.
You are about to enter a world war.
Update on Operation Friendship: Songhai is off the map, thanks to a pincer move from me and the Iroquois (the former from the west, the latter the east), and I am currently engaging in a large war with England in South America with help of the Ottomans who occupy North America. Travelling across the sea is a bitch. Gandhi is still cheery with his 10 cities in northeast Asia/Siberia. Somewhat thankfully, he's been blocked by the Iroquois and the Japanese (with their FORTY THOUSAND CITIES). To counter him, I've rushed development on the Atomic Bomb. Napoleon is chilling out in Central Europe with his one city. He's been in constant war with Japan for about 1,000 years now. After about five hours I think I should probably stop. Now everything looks like hex tiles :v:
I think Gandhi should have a little animation when he launches his first nuke. It should take you to the diplomancy screen and Gandhi will say "burn, baby, burn!" as 2 nuclear subs rise out of the lake behind him and launches their nukes.
I somehow acquired a Great Prophet that can only spread Christianity (not my religion) and can't build any Holy Sites it seems. Can anyone think of any potential uses for this guy?
Just delete him, maybe you can ignite a war by converting a few cities but I doubt it. Does the AI change after a civ has won? Or is that just me?
Is Civilization Revolution for IOS devices any good? It might be fun to play while waiting but it's one of the more expensive apps.
I am terrible at Civ but I still play it for hours on end. One day, one day I'll win on Normal difficulty.
I giggled.
The USA captured Florence and I hadn't noticed until 1996. I am now moving my soldiers to the border where I believe I can achieve a swift invasion of America. Greece and one militaristic city-state in South America (Next to Gandhi, but I'm in Africa) are the only ones that would consider me an ally, but Greece is the target of pretty much all of the world powers. In short, if I were to ally with Greece, a world war would commence (Only one previous one occurred in the 1800s for me). I'm just waiting it out until I can build death robots to storm all nations that oppose me. [editline]25th June 2012[/editline] Also I'm building a few nuclear missiles for when Gandhi finally reaches the Modern Era.
Started a new game hoping to be small and science-focused. And I fucking spawned next to gandhi
