Still playing my Monty playthrough. Thus far I've attempted to take a non-interventionist stance. It's right around 2000 and I've only been involved in 4 wars, 2 were defensive, 1 was a coalition against Japan and 1 was to put pressure on Russia to lay off Carthage. Most nations have managed to reach the modern era, save for two backwards states. The Austrians have been fully conquered, as have the Netherlands I believe as well as the Ethiopians, who were knocked out very early. The Americans have been reduced to one city due to war with the Iroquois. The Carthaginians have also been reduced to their capital following a recent war with China and Greece. The major powers right now are myself, the Huns and the Songhai. England has been reduced to two narrow land bridges connecting the continents. The Greeks are finally starting to open back up to international relations for the first time since 100 turns ago. Their isolationism has left them stuck playing catch up, I believe they've only recently entered the industrial era. The Mongolians, however, remain the most backwards state I've seen. They're still plodding around in the medieval ages, sitting there with a military they've never used. I'm amazed the Huns haven't bothered to crush them out yet. I'll probably post the mini-map later on.
I replayed Beyond the Sword just now and I realized how much features/mechanics are removed in Civ5.
I give it 20 turns before it takes 3+ minutes for each turn to process.
It's actually not that bad.. Late-game may be a problem, but by then 3/4ths of them should be wiped out.
I'm upping the ante. Wish me luck !
It'll get confusing when eventually one of them asks you 'Shall we declare war on Ghandi?'
It'll get confusing when eventually one of them asks you 'Shall we declare war on Ghandi?'
I think it'd be better to have no interest in the agreement.
It'll get confusing when eventually one of them asks you 'Shall we declare war on Ghandi?'
It already is :v: "India is now protecting Florence" "India has entered the classical era" "India and India are now friends"
It'll get confusing when eventually one of them asks you 'Shall we declare war on Ghandi?'
Team 2
It also surprises me how I managed to maintain friendly relations with all the 10 Ghandies in my continent. There has only been a single war between two of them, which didn't do much damage. I'm eager to know what happened in other continents.

Guys, what if... Teams of Gandhis
Sid Meier's Civilization V: Skitzophrenia
Elizabeth has been shafted with the Iron Chancellor's Iron Dick. I managed t oconquer hastings, their biggest city. I finished with a cannon and with 4 riflemen when she was still on longbowmen. With london right next turn, i decline a peace treaty with a handsome sum of gold on her end and rush. I get my ass hammered and retreat. They push for hastings but are pushed back. I finish the 500-some year war with a simple peace treaty. by then, rashid is 200 points ahead ofmme, and so is genghis, the explorer (he already conquered a city state, an incan city and 2 chinese cities). gandhi is building upo strength on his end. here's that he won't take mumbai. My happiness is down the drain but my score went up 80 points just from taking hastings. but this isn't over, fp. Elizabeth will be right there to stab in the back. And I have no costal cities, so I have 0 navy to explore and find allies to attack her. genghis and rashid are feuding, though and both are friendly to me. I'll see if I can get one to hlp me against her.
"Let's declare war on the Gandhis!" [entire map explodes]
They all maintain relations until the UN is established: the world becomes a utopia for every man, woman, and Gandhi~
Guys, what if... Teams of Gandhis
Gandhi would never make a team.
This, by the way, is how I imagine a team with all Ghandi's [sp]Five minutes in photoshop![/sp] :v:
Boom. Minimap.
What map type was that?
Have there been any FP multiplayer games? Playing MP in public games seems to lead to a lot of rage-leaving.
What map type was that?
Fractal IIRC.
Is Gandhi actually programmed to be a god damn bastard?
My game is odd. I started as the Dutch on a small strip of land in South America surrounded by mountains, (with only one choke point between the ranges to get in or out via land and not sea,) and I had Napoleon as a neighbor. I end up getting stuck in my little strip of land because Venice blocked me from expanding, Napoleon took up the rest of the continent. I ended up grinding for several hours and eventually move a vessel around to explore the rest of the world as I had only met Napoleon and three city states on South America. America and Canada belong to Bismarck, Harun al-Rashid, Haile Selassie, the Austrian whore, the Celts, and the Spanish. Everyone in America were like buddies against the Austrian whore and Haile since they were both antagonizing Germany. /EVERYONE/ I meet wants to be my friend, even if I had just met them. Meanwhile, back home, Napoleon is acting like an asshole by remaining neutral even though I had been supplying his nation with luxury items and the gold resource since the beginning of the game. He had been an ass in other ways, too, by converting all my cities, although his follower benefits gave me some more gold and I didn't have an established religion before then. Shortly after I had moved my ship away, he starts moving his pikemen into my nation and declares war on me for 'trusting him and being weak'. I had the worst military, economy, and technological status for the entire game because my space was so small that I couldn't get any good resources, and had to balance what little of everything I could produce. I had still managed to push his pikemen out of the country though. After that, I set up a fort at the one hex exit to my country and set my entire army there. Napoleon was, I believe, number two in terms of military power, and I was last. Haile was closest to Napoleon and he was already my friend, so I asked him to declare war on the French motherfucker and he did. I also got the rest of the western world to declare war on him, although they couldn't get their navy to him and South America couldn't be accessed via land. (This is around 1340 and most countries were in the middle of the Renaissance except for China and India, which were in the early stages of the industrial era.) The huge deadly ending invasion I had expected from Napoleon didn't come, he only sent one or two pairs of pikemen who retreated after I damaged them. The hot war went cold, and after awhile Napoleon kept asking for a peace treaty, (with ludicrous and unfair conditions,) and I kept rejecting them. Eventually the entire west half of the globe got into conflict over something, and Spain and Austria declared war on me and then made peace with me two turns afterwards, (possibly because they couldn't ever stage a ground invasion on my nation and I was 120+ hexes away from them.) Eventually I got tired of sitting in fear and risking a failing in economic terms, so I set a few horsemen and crossbow men into France to tear up the farms and such to see if Napoleon will ever make a fair peace treaty. I bought off Quebec and Venice to help divert his attention, although Quebec isn't going to make it and I don't have the funds to by Venice off again. Half of my nation is starving, too. Oh, and I eventually discovered China and India, which are two military and technological superpowers. They're at constant war with each other. There is also one more unmet nation that is super high up in the scoreboard. (Long story short: I'm pretty fucked.) [editline]28th June 2012[/editline] Oh, and then there's Montezuma although he has absolutely no military, really, and has -40 gold per turn. He is buddies with everyone and caring and nice so he isn't dead yet. The Celts and Spain have lost all of their funds, and China has like +902 gold per turn. Everyone in the world is giving me shit deals or no deals for my luxury items, but when Napoleon wasn't acting like an asshole he'd give me 350+ gold per trade and +45 gold per turn for them.
If Nerbudududufuckazzar asks me to put an embassy in my nation ONE MORE TIME when we've already been at war 3 times, I am going to ride over his ass again.
Is Gandhi actually programmed to be a god damn bastard?
Everything about his AI is supposedly peaceful apart from 1 statistic, Gandhi's nuke statistic is 12, every game the Gandhi AI's nuke focus is between 10 and 14. (values outside a 0-10 range are ignored and go with 0 or 10) Yes, he is the most nuke focused AI in the entire game.
That's FUCKING IT Narbuhadubabazaro this time no peace treaties you're fucking gone I GODDAMN WANTED THE VATICAN CITY YOU CUNT
Started a game on a terra map before Gods and Kings came out. Now in the middle of the modern era, I've taken out Arabian on the peninsula below me but the Iroquois have wiped out China, Germany and the Aztecs and have thus become quite large. It's just me, the Iroquois, Mongolia and Rome left. I'm the only one who's made any effort to colonise the new world but but my colony consists of only 3 smallish cities thus far. Right now the Iroquois are leading me in victory points by about 100, Mongolia and Rome are way behind. Currently I'm attacking the Iroquois with the goal of making my way to seize their capital, considering most of the other capitals have been taken I might try for a military victory.
Had a good round, thought I wiped Ghandi off the map, I had complete victory or whatever it was called on and forgot about it, all of a sudden, when I'm just coming out of the industrial era 'Ghandi has entered the Atomic Era' So now he decided to come back and nuke me to hell and back. Damnit, it's so difficult to pkay civ V with lots of civs/civ IV with lots of civs(Playing the star trek mod for civ IV atm) especially in the late game because of the ai turn processing times. Oh well, looks like I'll have to give it a rest for a bit. If anyone has any tips that I can merge into a mod or any tips on how to decrease the AI turn processing times, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Well, at this point, I'm pretty much friend with all 11 other gandhies. Let's hope it'll also be the case with the remaining 10. Not sure if it was a wise thing to do. [editline]28th June 2012[/editline] Oh god what a dumbass, half the island pledged to protect them. I don't know where this is going. [editline]28th June 2012[/editline] Holy shit now they are all asking for research agreements, it's like a hivemind or something.
They're LEARNING!
