Orange seems to covet my lands, he's the only guarded civ toward me at the moment.
Meanwhile, in my Civ V marathon game, 2 turns before the UN vote begins...
I'm a bit unfamiliar with espionage at the moment. What does a coup do exactly ?
I'm a bit unfamiliar with espionage at the moment. What does a coup do exactly ?
If one civ is allied to a city state, and another one has enough influence but not enough to be allies, a spy can perform a coup in that city and the influence will shift. For example, if I have 100 influence in 5 city-states, and Greece has 80 in those very same city-states, Greek spies can attempt a coup in those 5 if they have spies there. Since they are over the 60 required influence to be allies, but under the 100 required to be allies instead of me, they can perform a coup which will lower my influence and raise theirs so they become allies. The wider the influence gap is, the lower the chance to successfully perform a coup is.
My game crashes now on start-up. I tried to verify game cache with no results. I guess I'll have to wait a few hours until I get parts for my new computer and download the game again.

If he ever declare war on me he'll get Gandhi island on his ass. [editline]28th June 2012[/editline] Okay, I'm now in the modern era. Things are starting to get serious. [editline]28th June 2012[/editline] Researching the Manhattan project right now. [editline]28th June 2012[/editline] Okay, so here's the situation right now: I concluded a defensive pact with everyone except orange. The city he settled right at the last moment owns a 4 yield uranium tile, while I only have a lousy 2 uranium tile in my territory. I'll attempt to get this tile without triggering a war. [editline]28th June 2012[/editline] I built a citadel using my great general who was lying around for centuries. As a result it took the tile I needed. Obviously orange denounced me afterward. Shame he waited for everyone else's defense pact to expire.
Oh god so many Gandhies asking for uranium. They're everywhere !
Don't worry, They just want to use it for peaceful purposes
Uranium cures cancer ya know

Welp, that's pretty weird. They all act as if they were the same player. When one of them want to make a research agreement with me, everyone else does. [editline]28th June 2012[/editline]
do you have the worlds smallest computer screen
I don't know, I just use F12 and upload the screenshots via steam. Don't know why they are so small. [editline]28th June 2012[/editline] Okay, two of them declared war on me and two others denounced me. [editline]28th June 2012[/editline] Uh oh 8 of them backstabbed me.

Does anti-tank get a bonus against mechanized infantry?
Advice from armchair generals needed, I started a custom game with all aggressive AIs on hard (king) difficulty. Very early on in the game I obtained Pikeman some ancient ruins I found. Some turns later the same pikemen spotted an Indian Settler and Spearmen. Should I attack the spearmen and steal India's settler? I'm weary to start a permawar with India and China is next to me as well, but stealing that settler from India would be quite nice this early in the game.

But don't go after his cities yet, you'll need a force of archers to do that.

Defending means picking off his units on the homefront so he'll never reach critical mass. Gambles aside, it is just a worker. It should save you enough time/gold for a settler though so you have to decide if its worth it. After a long[er] period of time they will come to reasonable peace treaty terms and bounce back to neutral, any related denouncements will fade out before they are significant since you're all still expanding. Admiral Armchair signing off.

Dealing with him now and taking out that settler could deal a decisive blow to his economy and stop him from further expansion. Whatever time he spent producing that settler will be lost and a free worker will be gained from it. If he has the army to hold off whatever counter attack/to lay the pressure on them, he should do it.
I still dont understand why - when you use Stealth Bombers and Helicopter Gunships against barbarians - who are only armed with spears, throw some heat tracing piece of fire at it and damage the damn thing. Is there a mod that fixes this? It's really silly imo.
Just pretend they're terrorists with RPGs.

One of my spies when I was playing as Spain was named "Señor X".
Greece was the first nation after me to get into the modern era, yet NONE of the towns that I've captured have monuments or other basic buildings that keep your nation running. Alexander barely has any farmland. I will raze any other towns I capture from now on, and only keep the ones that have some useful resource. Also Japan only has 4 towns, and is right next door. I will engage them next assuming I don't win a science victory from launching the SS.

Oh man, I feel like the german against the soviets. It's rifles against bows, but there's just so MANY of them. There's like a bowman every 1.5 hexes. Do barracks and the such give XP to the units that are already spawned?

I'm all like, 'fuck off'!, denounce them, then try to capture the city. Then I get called warmongering by the rest of em.
stuff
The worst is when you have unpopulated stretches of roads in between cities, and they plop a city right in the middle of the roads, cutting off all your trade routes and supply lines.
Montezuma is a cunt.
That guy is the most belligerent leader I've ever encountered. He declared war on me, after denouncing me, for not having a lot of culture. This was when I was in the medievil era, too. Every other turn was him insulting me with lines like "I'll be glad to see the day your nation no longer poisons the land!" and "What do your people do all day? Bang rocks together for fun?" He's almost on par with Gandhi when it comes to douchebag behavior.
If Montezuma and Ghandi are the biggest douchebags in Civ V then Alexander's the third biggest. [editline]29th June 2012[/editline] He's so mean. :(
Let the atom cleanse them. Gandhi probably rubs himself with uranium like it was soap, though.
