How do you get the resources on screen like that?
Press the scroll icon to the left of the minimap, it should be there if I recall correctly
Let the atom cleanse them. Gandhi probably rubs himself with uranium like it was soap, though.
Probably explains why he has no hair.
One time Montezuma and Gandhi allied together. It was a dark day for humanity.
Is anyone else disappointed with the "marathon" game setting? I like the idea of having realistic, large timeframes in which to wage wars, but 5-6 cities in and each tech starts to take only about ten turns.

[editline]28th June 2012[/editline] Here it is: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=78516377&searchtext= It's called Extended Eras.
Alright, I got the hang of taking cities now with Gods and Kings. If I'm going for domination on all standard settings (prince, continents, 8 civs, etc), at what rate should I be taking out civs? For instance, I'm playing as Rome right now, just took out Russia and working on Babylon and it's 1150 AD.
Is there something in tech tree for spies?
I wish things like Lighthouses and the Colossus improved yields on the Great Barrier Reef.
Holy shit, guys. Just played a game as Theodora, on Prince, on a "Terra" Map, which is basically one large Eurasia-esque continent where everyone spawns and another "New World" continent that you can colonize. I founded my religion first and got all of the gold-boosting beliefs, giving me lodes-e-mone by the end of the game. I got 180 gpt from religion alone, and I was already pulling 600+gpt from other city bonuses for the 400 maintanace per turn penalties, leaving my income at 200gpt without golden age. I was lucky to spawn in the southwest corner of the continent, away from all the constant wars my neighbours were involved in, but my best achievement was that I WENT THE ENTIRE GAME WITH NO WARS. FUCKING. ZERO. DO YOU KNOW HOW PROUD THIS MAKES ME, MOTHERFUCKERS? I HAVE WAITED MY ENTIRE LIFE FOR THIS MOMENT.
I don't even understand how that is possible, I'm always at war.
For a long time Ghandi and Khan have been fighting for control over the island they spawned on, succesfully wiping out 3 other empires in their stuggle. And this left the both of them to be in constant war for the last 4 centuries. And both of them just reached the atomic era within 3 turns of eachother... I bet it will turn into a full-scale apocalypse over there.
Decided to test out the new AI on an archipelago map. Of course, I'm the only Civ thus far that has to share an island, drastically curtailing my production. This is the first time since the Expansion was released that I haven't founded my own religion.
I just tried out the demo (for Gods and Kings), and holy shit, why do I not have this game yet? I was playing on the tiniest version of Pangea, and I was doing pretty well. Had a decent stream of gold coming in, everything was peaceful, the Dutch and me were bros. It was turning out to be a pretty peaceful game until Aetilla the Hun decided to come in and try to destroy me around 1700 B.C.. He had all of his units staged right outside my little capital with very few people to defend it. I thought I was screwed. Skip to like 500 A.D., and Aetilla just gave me a peace treaty that gave me every part of his empire (except his cities, one of which I "liberated"), and I say "Hell no, bitch. You tried to destroy me, I'm gonna destroy you." (Also I was completely in debt due to the war effort with absolutely 0 gold coming in (-32 gold/turn) while Carthage and the Dutch made it in the Mideval era while I was still barely classical, so I was pretty sure I was gonna lose anyways). I ended up surrounding his little petty town and finally crushed the Huns once and for all. The Dutch ended up denouncing me, but I solved that with a little trade and he went to neutral. I had a lot of ground to cover, but I was sure I could make my way back to the top ag-- And then Carthage won a culture victory. :( Definitely getting this game even though I'll probably suck so bad at it!
I regret making peace with Sejung... he pulled a Gandhi on me earlier. At the start of my second game, Sejung was having major problems and his capital was claimed by Queen Elizabeth. He took it back, and with every other turn for him, it seemed like more and more cities were popping up in his empire. The next thing I knew, he had 8 when I only had 3. Then he went ahead and cut the Queen's empire (literally) in half, by taking over one of her largest cities. All the while, he's being too nice to me, constantly wanting to trade, and with every passing trade he started asking for more and more money. I agreed to maybe 2 research agreements (which I dearly regret), and then he back stabbed me. He waged war on me, with all 12 of his fucking cities watching over me to the west. I fought with him for maybe 50 turns, trying so desperately to not give in or agree to his "peace" treaties (with his demands for peace, he wanted 4 of my 5 cities, all of which surrounded my capital. He would most likely back stab me again to try and claim my capital shortly afterward.) Unfortunately, when he stopped begging for more money and most of my empire, he asked for a small sum of money (which was just about all the money I had, after pumping so many resources into fighting him). After some hard thinking, I agreed to the treaty, but unfortunately ended up having 0 gold. I am steadily losing science points, and I don't know what the hell to do. I would have been pretty damned if I kept going to war with him (since I'm sure he took an extra two cities from the Queen, leaving him with around a dozen under his rule). Also, while going to war with Se-jerk, I got resources from Attila the Hun (who I feared would cross the sea just to kick me in the ass while Sejung pounded my face), and shortly afterwards Bismarck assimilated him into his empire. I also got resources from Bismarck, but now I don't know who to trust. The Queen dislikes me for becoming friends with Bismarck (who absorbed Attila, Kamehameha, and Alexander without my knowledge), all while kicking and screaming under the boot of Sejung. My empire is now the smallest, and I am caught in the middle of three blood-thirsty tyrants who could destroy me at any moment. Should I side with anyone? Or just panic and get as much uranium together as possible?
What is wrong with the netherlands? They want open borders and 100 gold from me for nothing but open borders in return? wtf
Stumbled across a screenshot that reminded me of my first Civilization game. I was playing continents on one of the easier difficulties as the Celts, and was a dick and began taking over all the countries I saw. Eventually, I had a vast empire, America was reduced to a one tile city up in the Arctic (I liked my trophy), and England was cowering in the bottom right of the map. There was one problem though, and I just realized it... The other continent hadn't been explored. I decided to go over there (all focuses were on the other empires in my continent, not exploration), and found the entire other continent was full of Barbarian cities and some country that I don't remember was cowering in the south. An ENTIRE continent of Barbarians. They had helicopters and everything. I was terrified.
I'm 227 turns into a game as Bismarck. The only other civ I've met so far is England. So far I've killed three of her spies in my cities, and suddenly I get this. [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/Ewli[/img_thumb] Fuck that noise.
You know I just noticed something. Every time someone makes a offer with you, they request a shit load of stuff.
You know I just noticed something. Every time someone makes a offer with you, they request a shit load of stuff.
They must not like you. [editline]29th June 2012[/editline] Also, has this happened to anyone? In one of my earlier saves, I started playing as the Incan leader Pachacuti. I played for a while, had fun etc. Then I saved and closed the game. The next time I loaded the save, I noticed something weird. Now the game thought I was the Mongolian leader Genghis Khan. I don't know what happened. I still had the same Incan cities, units and all but my name had changed. Also in the menu my name was Isabella, who apparently is the leader of Spain.

It essentially breaks the save, but you can keep playing and win with it if you like. :v:
So, a day ago I was playing Civilization until 6 in the morning, then fell asleep (I don't even remember). My dreams consisted of constant shuffling of units and borders and oh god it was horrible. I kept seeing those little paths that show how many turns it would take for a unit to go somewhere when you hold right click after selecting a unit, and I couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't. I kept waking up for some reason and it was just completely restless. I'm scared to play Civ now.
Theodora wanted me to join her in a war with Elizabeth and I agreed. As soon as the war started, all 8 of my allied city-states joined too. Later in the war Wu Zetian joined us. The entire world was at war with England.
Alexander can get on a cock and ride back to Pluto, the smug motherfucker wastes every single one of my turns asking me to exchange embassies with him. Fucking embassies, I wish they never existed. Alexander kinda sucks too.
"Would you be interested in a trade agreement with England?"
Capitalistic AIs everywhere...

I think that going to sleep right after a heavy gaming session kinda screws with your dreams. (Remedy this by reading a book or watching tv documentaries or anything non-repetitive before going to sleep! )
Seems like every time I play this game, it runs worse. I don't think it's the graphics, because turning way down doesn't help. I must be the CPU since it sometimes makes the CPU fan sound like a hair dryer.
How come I can't do any longswordsman or crossbowmanor landsknecht when I get to riflemen? I mean, even the towns that were doing musketmen were forced to do riflemen when I researched rifling.
