Does anyone have a notebook with a HD4200 to test this game on?
I have one with a 4650 and the demo ran perfectly with everything on medium except for textures (high).
Out of interest, does anyone have a method for disabling the intro cinematic?
Menu music is meh, a letdown after Civ4.
Out of interest, does anyone have a method for disabling the intro cinematic?
when I hit Alt that seems to skip it :v:
My intro cinematic always skips by itself. I can't even watch it.
Is this comparable to civ 3 more than civ 4? I really didn't like 4, but loved 3.
I'm great at Civ V I spent 2300 years waring with a city state, I quit that save promptly after.
So, what is there to prevent online matches from spanning weeks? Is there a way to play an online match that lasts for maybe an hour?

I'm pretty sure that something went wrong here...

Downloading the demo to see if I can actually run this..
Does the leader stay the same forever? As in, if Elizabeth is the leader of England in 2000 BC, will she still be the leader in the year 1700? Or will she die.
Downloading the demo to see if I can actually run this..
Keep in mind the demo is a somewhat poor representation of how well you can run the full game. With only 100 turns you do not have to render a lot of units/structures but as the game goes on the objects that your computer has to render increase exponentially. From what I hear only incredibly good rigs can run the game smoothly by endgame.
Does the leader stay the same forever? Weird, yes, but that is Civ for ya.
The leaders are the same. Alexander the Great or whatever 'twas ruled from 4.000B.C. to 2.000B.C.
The leaders are the same. Alexander the Great or whatever 'twas ruled from 4.000B.C. to 2.000B.C.
Do the leaders "advance"? For example will Ceasar still be sitting on his stone throne with the toga or will he have a modernized look?
Do the leaders "advance"? For example will Ceasar still be sitting on his stone throne with the toga or will he have a modernized look?
in civ 3 they advanced, but i dont think they do in civ 5
Do the leaders "advance"? For example will Ceasar still be sitting on his stone throne with the toga or will he have a modernized look?
Unfortunately, no.
in civ 3 they advanced, but i dont think they do in civ 5
Yeah I remember that, it was pretty awesome. They probably dropped it due to it requiring a whole lot more work now with the fancy graphics.
Still it would be pretty badass to see Caesar in a suit/modern war gear.
Still I would be pretty badass to see Caesar in a suit/modern war gear.
Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking.
Does anyone have a notebook with a HD4200 to test this game on?
I dont have a notebook but I ran the game fine on a HD 3870 with 2.2 ghz pross and 3.5 or whatever 32 bit caps ram at on max settings.
Kael, creator of the most popular Civ4 modpack Fall from Heaven, has released the first two modpacks for Civilization V today. The first mod, Queen of the Iceni, adds the following features to Civilization V: The Celt Civilization. Boudica, leader of the Celts. Battle Fury, Boudica's trait, all Gun, Melee and Mounted units get 2 attacks per round. Gaellic Warrior, Celtic unique unit that replaces the warrior and ignores terrain costs when moving. Sons of Morrigan, Celtic unique unit that heals whenever it kills an enemy unit. Single unit formations made up of larger, easier to see units. Ability to disable unit buttons (toggle on the minimap menu). Added the Mod List screen to the Additional Information menu (shows loaded mods). The second mod, Legions, makes the following changes to Civilization V: Removes the 1UPT (one unit per tile) limit. Legions mod is completely modular and can be run concurrently with other mods. Attack I promotion- +15% when attacking. Attack II promotion- +15% when attacking. Attack III promotion- +15% when attacking. City Defense promotion- +25% when defending a city. Defense I promotion- +15% when defending. Defense II promotion- +15% when defending. Defense III promotion- +15% when defending. Shock promotions now give a standard +10% to combat instead of +20% on open terrain. Unit maintenance is reduced by 25%. Units in cities no longer get additional hit points, to adjust for the ability to stack defenders in cities. This mod doesn't add any new UI to help manage the ability to stack units. So unit's still need to be moved individually, and there is no easy way to look at the statistics of stacked units. Both mods are available for download from the in-game mod browser. Check them out!
The guys at Civ Fanatics are insane! By the sound of it 5% of the users just wanted civ 4 with better graphics.
I don't understand why anyone would want the stacks of doom back
i don't like how attacking cities work in this game, it's way too hard to take a city
It should be hard to take cities. They are supposed to be the most difficult thing to defeat.
Let's try this demo out then.
i don't like how attacking cities work in this game, it's way too hard to take a city
Nukes. Lots of nukes. You can never use too many nukes. Use your nukes.
i don't like how attacking cities work in this game, it's way too hard to take a city
You need some siege weapons and ranged units, to weaken it then send your melee units.
Ridiculous mods
What next? Bringing the grid back? What was going though their mind? "I love Civ 5, but you know what this game needs more of? Civ 4!"
You need some siege weapons and ranged units, to weaken it then send your melee units.
I battered a city for ~20 turns with archers, with the health being as low as possible at the start of the turns by the 10th turn, but when I sent in half a dozen horse mounted archer thingies, they all got totally obliterated, even with a great general bonus.
