it's definitely one of the reasons why I can't go back to civ 4.
I'm a piece of shit diplomat. Does anybody have any tips on how to keep good terms with other civilizations in terms of winning the game?

Riddle them with nukes and fill your borders with tanks. Trust me, I'm an expert at this.

You don't.

The very basics seems to be the denounce/befriend mecanism. If you befriend someone someone else has denounced, the relationship with the latter will decrease. Denounce an already denounced civilization and you will gain popularity among other civilization, and lose some with the denounced civ. The same goes for declarations of friendship.
Then, there's the backstabbing mechanism most civs seems to use a lot, so uh...

I love how confused the game is, there's (I forgot who) as the leader pictured, there's Washington's symbol above their resources, and it says Germany above the trading box.

Usually I'll just not pick sides and trade with everyone. I'll trade more with the people that get pissed at me. In that Deity match I posted above, I was friends with India but Khan was always asking me to go to war with him against India and I always declined. Somehow keeping the peace for millenniums. But it's also good to have a few nukes on stock to back up your claims if you have to get a bit testy with people. Speak softly and carry a big stick. (in my case, two thermonuclear tipped sticks within striking distance of Khans capital city)
So, uh, Darius has been in a golden age for what I think is a few hundred years? The hell? My brave Russian troops took Susa from him after he backstabbed our alliance; unfortunately he appears to have rubber-banded somehow and gotten tons of troops out of nowhere along with pushing ahead in tech a lot to the modern age. Stupid cheating AI.
I love playing as the Russians personally, but it's hard for me to keep them happy :v:
I guess the introduction of religion makes that easier.
Wow my game just turned into a total political shitfest.
First time I'm going for a cultural victory, playing as Greece and owning only 3 cities. I am surrounded by the Celts, Austria and Egypt and everyone lives on little islands. From a political view, the entire world has turned to shit and every turn there are at least 2 denunciations and a declaration of friendship (15 AI woops). So basicly everyone can be friendly towards me one turn, and be hostile to the brink of war a turn later. The only two who have a steady relation are Egypt and Austria, like best friends forever they keep declaring war on me for whatever reason and after I destroy their fleets they demand every single thing I have as their opinion of 'fair deal'. Meanwhile I am just defending my islands and everyone thinks I am a warmongering evil because I defend my little country.
One noticeable thing that happened however, the turn Ghandi completed the Manhattan project the entire world declared war on him except for maybe 3 nations. It is almost like the AI knew.

Introduce glorious communism.
So far I found the best way to keep happiness is to go down Liberty first to get the one that's +1 happiness for every city connected to the capitol, then select at least the first part of Order to get the +1 happiness per city, and then there's the other one in Liberty that reduces unhappiness in nonoccupied cities. That helps.
Then there's the Commerce one that gives extra happiness for luxury resources.

I always choose the commerce tree because it helps literally every play style.
I always pick Liberty and Honor and build a massive army and then decide not to attack anyone because war is so time consuming and then I'll proceed to close the game and never play that save again.
Repeat infinitely.
While warring my way through Russian territory I discovered that they'd somehow managed to build farmland on snow tiles.
Ok Russia.

We grow potatoes for Vodka
IN ANY WEATHER, COMRADES
Isn't that possible as long as it's next to a river?

Maybe, I do recall at least one of the farms was next to a lake, just took me by suprise.
Speaking of which; I'm currently off my main comp and won't be able to play Civ for sometime, however in my 'current' game I'm playing as Spain, allied with India and Polynesia. Thanks to spreading Christianity into a willing Polynesia we've formed a relativly strong alliance. India keeps trying to spread their religion to one of my city states so fuck them they'll get it later.
I'm thinking of giving most of the Russian territory to the Ottomans. They lost most of their cities early on to the Persians (I belive) and are fairly far behind in terms of tech, but I think I'd rather have them control some of the landmass instead of me, Polynesia, or Rome.
I'm trying to remain small and I'm certain Rome and Polynesia would attempt to expand into the razed territory.
At least with the Ottomans they'd be easy to wipe out if they get rowdy.
I think it would be funny to have all the world leaders of the current world play as their respective countries (If they are represented as a country, or whatever they are closest to). Maybe put North Korea over control of the general "Korea".
So apparently if you have a quick save set, F12, the key to take a Steam screenshot, will reset your game to the quick save. I was almost done with the game, and found this report humorous:

But did not find it humorous that I was reverted to three cities.

Might I suggest remapping the key to print screen? I remapped it to print screen, because it made the most sense.

Doesn't the game use autosaves?
I bought G&K today and goddamn is it a good fucking expansion pack. Been playing as the Huns who are awesome as hell. Also, is it just me or doest G&K perform better than vanilla?
The DLC is 50% off, and I still don't feel like paying that much.
The only good DLC is Gods and Kings

How do you do that? I want to change from F12 because of Deus Ex but trying to assign PrtSc in Steam options does nothing.
Also, is it just me or doest G&K perform better than vanilla?
Not just you. Gods and Kings introduces a LOT of bugfixes and optimisations that were dearly needed in Vanilla, but would have taken too much time and effort to be put into a standard free patch.
I tried out deity difficulty. Overwhelming would be an understatement.
