100% Great Generals 100% of the time. I had 4 great generals by that point, 4th one was still heading to the army. (Yes I know their effects don't stack, I just found it funny because they had nothing else to do.)
I love, while I'm going on the offensive and have multiple great generals, to use the excess ones to drop citadels right against enemy territory. Since it damages units that end their turn next to it, if you drop it near a bunch of enemy units, it helps you a lot.
Played the demo for Gods and Kings while having very little experience in Civilization games prior. Had a two hour session where I had an absolute blast. Involved city founding, war, and counter attacks. After the demo kicked me out, I bought the full game (plus Gods and Kings of course) almost instantly. So much fun.
gonna play this over the weekend probably will try gods & kings some more
I'm going to try and get a game going. Everyone that has Gods and Kings should add me on steam so we can get like a 2v2 or 3v3 or 4v4 going
Holy fuck Gandhi
Check out Khan: [editline]13th July 2012[/editline] And, it's the year 2350 and he's just as poor as me. Check out dat population. Canterbury keeps starving and there's not much I can do for it because all the tiles are already take up around it, and if I give it other times from other cities, three other cities start to starve. We almost need a nuclear war to cut the population down.
I think I' mgetting the hang of this game. Spawned as france on a donut-shaped continent with wu zetian one side of the middle lake and caeser on the other third (only I was coastal, though), wit ha wall of mountaisn seperatign my third from rome's third. Now, I only have 2 cities, I'm goign for a cultural win and I have never been in a war. Seriously. Both Wu and Caeser had the power to take mout easily, my city was good pluking but she must have thought i wasn't worthy of spilling her blood because she just kept attacking rome. They're now dirt poor, struggling on tech and money while I'm swimming in money, science and culture. However, I had to move around the scales so rome or chian wouldn't take over the other and cross their sights on me. The other continent had russia (had, she was conquered by persia iwith only 1 city), persia and bismarck, both with reasonable armies. I have made declarations of friendship with both (can you believe bismarck asked me for 580 gold? I gave it to him, he was in a war with darius and I sure as fuck wasn't going to stop that war) Bismarck eventually conquered Moscow and destroyed darius' army. I paid bismarck off so darius could get himself back so he'd still be competition to bismarck. I've got a reasonable army back home but I'm stagnating. I wonder whored and now have some 14 or 15 wonders (all but 1 in one city, paris is fucking amazing), now I have nothing left to build and my tech is approaching the point where I have to research steam power to move forward( which will cost me my precious culture bonus) Got 3 trees done (freedom, piety and tradition, working on commerce and finishing on honor). Man, this has been smooth sailing for me. I sit on my palace overlooking wonders over wonders, plucking the strings of my fellow generals. Vive la France, vive Napoleon! [editline]15th July 2012[/editline] wait, it's only +2/ town, ahaha, fuck that shit, steam power away.
Okay, now the DLCs are 75% off, and I had a gift card lying around with $4:58 on it, so I got Inca, Polynesia, and the wonders of the ancient world. Now I'm almost certain to get distracted with some other game and never use them.
why can't gods and kings be on even more of a sale
Free upgrades? Yes, please.
Do you guys think they might put Gods and Kings on a larger discount during the Steam sale or should I just grab it now?
No. It was recently released. I think you'll only get it for 25% off.
Also does the GOTY edition include the Korea and the Wonders of the Ancient World packs?
No. GOTY includes everything besides Gods & Kings, Korea and the wonders.
god dammit steam store is broken to hell I can't click the add to cart button and there's less than an hour left to get Gods and Kings thank god for steam mobile
Gods and Kings is amazing. Is any of the dlc for the additional civs worth buying?
Is G&K worth the money?
I really wish there was an undo button. Not to back out of an ambush that you run into, but rather when a unit goes to a tile you didn't intend for it to go due to user error. I suppose you could use it for backing out of real mistakes, kind of like in a lot of chess programs where you can undo a move. That could be useful for testing strategies, or for abusing if your on a difficulty that is too hard. [editline]15th July 2012[/editline]
Is G&K worth the money?
My opinion is that if you really like Civ 5, you should get it. If you haven't played Civ 5, but are big into strategy games, get it. If you aren't that big into strategy games, then it might be a bit of a gamble, personally I'd lean towards getting it, but compare it to what else your money could get you that you know you'd enjoy.
Gods and Kings is amazing. Is any of the dlc for the additional civs worth buying?
Denmark. I bought Denmark for myself and a friend that didn't have it so I could play Denmark in our games. I fucking love Denmark. Goddamn amazing bonuses. Their lack of embarkment movement penalties makes them AMAZING at coastal maps like archipelago.
Fuck, guess I missed the gods and kings sale huh?

This may be a stupid question but how the hell do I play a mod/map?
download from the workshop, than go to the mods in the main menu, it will download, than popup there, click the checkmark to the right of the mod, hit next, than you can play single player
Gods and Kings is amazing. Is any of the dlc for the additional civs worth buying?
Korea is apparently great for science victories, so I'm going to buy them myself.
Since the dawn of time, that bitch wu zetian and caeser have been fighting. Wu declares war the first 2 times, then, she goes dirt poor and caeser's the one that attacks, he almost suceeds, too. He captured shanghai, which was reclaimed and then recaptured some more. The bitch came back, though with tyre as her ally. Tyre had an infantry unit and an archer assisting her riflemen against cavalry. Well, in the very last turn (before I got my cultural win), tyre captures shanghai and razes it to the ground. A 2000 year old struggle for a town has finally ended thanks to a fucking city-state barging and destroying the thing.
Just got this game the other day and holy jesus i've been missing out. I started playing- got Genghis Khan and the Mongolians as my first Civilization (even though it's apparently DLC and I didn't get any). When I finally reached what I felt was a good stopping point, it was 1540 AD and 3 in the morning. The first civilization I started warring with was Songhai, which was also the first civilization I met. I briefly had good relations with Germany, but then they allied with Songhai and declared war after I destroyed them. Thus followed a good 7 or 8 hundred years of war, maybe more. Frankfurt was captured, lost, then recaptured and razed. By the early 1900's, though, Germany was off the map. Two more civilizations came to my attention- France and the Ottomans. I'm currently at war with the Ottomans and allied with France, but attacking is hard because Suleiman's put up a great wall and his only exposed city is almost entirely surrounded by ocean.

I think if you've purchased both the Goty and Gods and Kings the only faction you'll be missing out on is Korea.
Even after several updates and an expansion, Gandhi is still a dick.
Having played a good amount of Civilization V normally I now have the issue of it crashing whenever I try to play the DirectX 10/11 version. Does anyone know why it would do this? I've tried reinstalling it, checking for missing files, re-installing Direct X and C++ library thing but nothing seems to fix it. I'm at a loss, and I really wanna play a pretty Civ V with my buds.
I know this question gets asked a lot, but how can I make my people more happy? I swear I keep finding myself in this rut even though I always seem to have plenty of luxury resources. Hell, I see people with only one that have like 30-35 happiness while my civ only has maybe 5, and it annoys me so much.
