When it comes to taking non-capitol cities it's just a matter of attacking from more than one side I think. For capitols, I'll get back to you when I've actually managed to take one. D:
I didn't realise until I played the game how natural hexagon maps actually look compared to square maps. Oh, I won't miss those squares: [img_thumb]http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/2057/civ4screenshot0054io5.jpg[/img_thumb]
I find that taking cities is fairly easy, but I did not start going on a conquest until I hit modern age :v:
Oh god, those textures!
You have a problem with my four year old video card? Edit: [img_thumb]http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5955/gdrdesc.png[/img_thumb]
One of my friends is having trouble getting the game to work. It crashes right after the intro movie, then tells him that "windows is searching for a solution", or something along those lines, and then he gets nothing. Is there a way to fix this?
Is he running it in DX11? His card may not support it.
Do you get an option to continue a game if an opponent has achieved a non-conquest victory?
Do you get an option to continue a game if an opponent has achieved a non-conquest victory?
Wouldn't be a civ game without that.
Is he running it in DX11? His card may not support it.
Nope. He can only run it in DX9 mode. Also he is using windows Vista, if that's of any importance.

If I remember correctly, 2.1 ghz duo core, Geforce 8500, and 2 GB of RAM.
I battered a city for ~20 turns with archers, with the health being as low as possible at the start of the turns by the 10th turn, but when I sent in half a dozen horse mounted archer thingies, they all got totally obliterated, even with a great general bonus.
Siege Weapons, archers still won't do shit.
So is multiplayer in this game basically the worst thing ever? No animations, loads of missing menus and information, laggy to hell and back, and I can't find a save game button so it all has to be in 1 go. Am I missing something here? Did civ 5 just take like 20 steps back in the multiplayer world? Makes no sense to me, civ 4 was perfectly fine. Is this just like an unfinished feature and patches will take care of it?

I'm pissed because there wasnt and option to pre-order the special edition on steam, only the regular. I would have put out the extra money to see how they made the game. Also the physical Special edition looks pretty sweet, too.

Just wiped out Elizabeth and a City-state with Nobunaga, in doing so three other City-states instantly allied with me :V
Is anyone else getting small red splotches scattered throughout the terrain?

Civ 5 took many steps back with multiplayer in comparison to Civ 4 because civ 4 has had 5 or so years of patches + 2 expansions. Civ 5 has been out for just a couple of days.
Civ IV was just as buggy as Civ V is now. With patches we shall prosper. Relax guys and enjoy the game.
So does anyone want to take some guesses at what DLC and expansion packs will be released for this game?
So does anyone want to take some guesses at what DLC and expansion packs will be released for this game?
Next DLC is called Double Civilization. So 2 more Civs.
Wow, really, DLC? Fuck that shit. I want expansions.
Is anyone else getting small red splotches scattered throughout the terrain?
I did see a small red line on one of the tiles that seemed completely out of place but haven't seen another one since.
