Civilization V - Civ: causing all nighters since 1991

So, my Gods and Kings serial arrived in my email this morning without me knowing. Me and PieClock played from about 10pm to 7am but we had so much fun :v:
After this game finishes, we'll probably do the Gods and Kings DLC.
So last night me and my good buddy Dan were playing a game that started in the Atomic era for shits and giggles. I was Russia he was Byzantium and the other AI were The Huns, China, Japan, and Arabia.
The map was continents. We found out pretty quick he started with an entire continent to himself and the game had shoved me onto one continent with every other fucking civ all around me. Oh well.
So I'm taking the Autocracy/Liberty tree to be a large warmonger empire, and I meet Atilla who's all friendly because "Hey we're both fascist assholes let's be friends" meanwhile every other civ is not the happiest because "Hey you're a fascist asshole".
About the time we reach the information era (and I've produced about 3-4 atomic bombs) Atilla the Hun starts marching a ton of troops down towards my capitol, and right behind him, Japan. (They just fought a war and called peace so I don't know what the fuck is going on).
He declares war on me (and at the same time my slowass spy tells me he's planning a surprise attack on me). Luckily his soldiers are far enough from my territory that I can do this:
I nuke his advancing soldiers.
He brings more in this time with Japan. I nuke the both of them and inadvertently declare war on Japan. To which I find out thanks to my spy he was going to surprise attack me.
Surprise, motherfucker.
So this just ends up being this 30-40 year long nuclear war, with me producing nothing but nukes from my cities with the occasional soldier to ward off closer attacks, and me and Dan end up completely obliterating Osaka, Tokyo, Casablanca, and one of Atilla's other cities.
All the while we're laughing our asses off because we're imagining the circumstances.
The Japanese and Hunnic armies marching towards my borders, their generals all smug in their confidence that they're going to catch my by surprise. Then they look up and see a large bomber flying overhead. "That bomber has Russian markings..."
'Yeah, it does. I wonder what it's doing out here?'
"Wait, what's that it just dropped from the bomb bay do- oh god"

And let's not forget the gravy train of nuclear missles that convoyed across the ocean from my homeland to my specially constructed nuke-city like some sort of atomic capable trucker convoy.
Takes like two days to deliver though sooooooooooooo
Got mine yesterday
If it takes more than 24 hours they should give you a 10% discount
Your cities each produce x production/turn. If it costs 73 production, divide the amount of production the city you're building in by x p/t and you get the amount of turns to build it.
To find your p/t click on the city name that you're building in and check the number next to the hammer icon.
Thank you very much, so I did understand how it works after all.
I just thought that maybe there are separate production points which are accumulated from production per turn
Okay what the fuck, I'm bombing the shit out of Russia with artillery and frigates, I get their cities into the tiniest part of red and even though I'm hitting them it's not going down any further, what's wrong with it?

A melee unit / ship has to physically move onto the tile.
Think of it this way, you've pummeled down the walls with trebuchets and cannonfire, but you need forces to actually occupy the city.

Oh right thanks

You can get the city down to one health with everything else though
You know what I'd like to have in the game. A way to make it so that you can get tech a lot faster by sacrificing gold or units.
that'd be a cool feature for montezuma, sacrificing units.
You know what I'd like to have in the game. A way to make it so that you can get tech a lot faster by sacrificing gold or units.
You more or less can. You can use gold to buy libraries and shit, which ups your research per turn and that nets you tech faster, and you can switch the production you'd normally put toward units toward research after you get to a certain point.
that'd be a cool feature for montezuma, sacrificing units.
montezuma should have a slightly modified UI:
instead of saying "consume the great unit to start a golden age"
it should say "sacrifice the great unit's heart to start a golden age"
that'd be a cool feature for montezuma, sacrificing units.
You used to get the ability to sacrifice population in exchange for hammers with slavery on Civ 4.
I wish there was a Civ map large enough to contain all the Civs you can get in the game plus a few more spaces for modded Civs.

A map that is 1 to 1 with the real earth. Imagine how fucking huge that would be, but it would be interesting for sure.
You know what would be really cool? A full-fledged empire revolution mod. Each city has a certain amount of "Loyalty" calculated from local happiness, distance from capital, amount of trade, etc. If that value got too low there would be a chance that it could go on strike, rebel, or even full on declare its own independence. And instead of randomly creating a bland old civ, it would just use another civilization that isn't being used in the current game. Sure it would lead to the Polynesians rebelling from the Russians and declaring their independence but hey that's sort of what civ is all about anyways. I wish I was a modding god, but I would literally pay money for something cool like this.
Hopefully I'll have the GOTY edition tomorrow, can't wait, loved the demo. (still do, but it's a bit limited)

Imagine the turn change times, especially late into the game. :v:

The demo is limited? What a shocking revelation.

There is mod like that, here's link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=75508110
Is there a way to ask other civs to stop spreading their religion?
They keep converting all of my cities, but I if I by an accident convert one of their cities they go "NO!!! OUR CITY!!! GO AWAY!!!!"

I think after they've sent a missionary to convert or already have converted a city you can ask them to not do so in the same way you'd ask them not to settle cities near you.
They may refuse to do so, in which case you may want to start stationing inquisitors in your cities.
Does anyone know exactly why we can't play on the Earth or Terra map in MP games? It really bothers me.
Does anyone else have trouble keeping up in the mid-to-late game?
I was stuck with 3 other Civs in a small, open continent. Mongolia waged war with everyone, I fucked his shit up and he surrendered, giving me 5 random cities. Because the map is so tight and there's crap everywhere, I can barely tell where my borders are anymore. I've got cities and units scattered around everywhere since the war and I'm just having heaps of trouble trying to keep track of everything.
:(

Yeah but aren't they limited to city-states and can't found their own new rebel cities?
Yeah but aren't they limited to city-states and can't found their own new rebel cities?
Looks like so, but author says that mod is mostly work in progress.
Also, i think civ 5 need to fill all factions from the start, so feature you requesting seems to be hard to code.
So today I realized that playing in a tiny-sized archipelago map with 15 other civs is a bad idea for going for a diplomacy victory.
Especially when your next door neighbor just happens to be Ghandi.
What does the world age option mean?
What does the world age option mean?
Not 100% sure, but I think it has to do with erosion, so younger worlds have more hills and mountains.
