Boats? Uh, use a carrier to ferry troops over? (Unless you can't do that in Civ 5.) Just get some boats to guard the ferry's just in case, and boom your army is there. If you can't put troops on carrier boats, then do whatever it is that can do it. It might be "embark"? Not really sure.

Embark land units, send them over to their continent, build some naval units like battleships to guard the embarked units.
You move them into the water.
And they'll spawn their own landing craft.

If you're playing Gods and Kings, definitely use battleships (or any frigates you may have that have around 3 tiles firing range) to bombard coastal cities and have one melee ship, like a destroyer, around so you can quickly capture it once it's down to a reasonable level.
It'll help a lot for giving yourself a nice foothold in the continent, plus you can capture other cities on the coast while your land troops are taking down the cities inland.

This.
Even the fucking helicopters embark.
(And also still gain bonuses from going over roads, as if that matters)

I think the idea with helicopters being faster on roads is that the pilot can see a clear route to follow, but if there was no road he would have less visibility on where he was going.

That's not really how helicopters work.
The real reason is that they're lazy and didn't make a new unit type for the helicopters, so they just used the normal ground units' base.

Because a VTOL crammed full of electronics will get lost without road signs.

Perhaps the fuel trucks can keep up better on roads?

The helicopter also stays airborne indefinitely, that's not really how helicopters work.
So, I put a Giant Death Robot over there with a missile cruiser loaded with nuclear missiles, fired a nuke at Bismarck's cities, destroyed three and took over the remaining one, focused it on food then production, bought more missile cruisers and nuke missiles and blew up his remaining cities. German Conquest has been successful. Shame I couldn't take his cities, they were literal uranium mines.
Playing as Catherine, with Liberty and Piety, having a lot of fun. High happiness, means I can basically settle as many cities as I want.
Sadly, I'm getting disappointed with AI. There's no way to imply things to AI, and sometimes they are just really dumb.
Germany, who had lost all their cities except the capital, had Babylon declare war on them. I don't want Germany to die because we have a research agreement, so I need to stop them from fighting.
I send some advanced units to Germany's border (we have open borders), so when Babylon attacks I can help. Germany gets mad at me for having military units nearby, and goes to angry, or whatever. I move away from their borders, in between Babylon and Germany. I can't do a defensive pact with Germany because they hate me for no reason, so my units don't dissuade Babylon at all, and they just walk past them.
Just had a game where both Napoleon and China were constantly spying on me, I intercepted their spies over 5 times each, telling them to stop spying, denouncing them, and then nuking them each three times. Just before I launched my space shuttle, I got yet another "you have intercepted a Chinese spy in x".
Jesus fuck, you'd think that nuking them and taking all but one of their cities would deter the AI from spying on me, and if not that, my police stations and the firewall :v:

You should of just taken their cities and boomed them to hell.
Okay, a question:
Is it worth it getting a civ to declare war on another one?
Edit:
where is my automerge

Depends how much you hate the other person
It's the person who I asked to declare war on who I hate. He's the weakest, and the guy he's attacking is the strongest.

EDIT:
Nope I'm stronger
EDIT:
Now I like the guy who's attacking and seriously hate the other.
I don't see what you guys mean when you say the multiplayer's broken to shit. Me and a friend were able to get ~200 turns into a game, we're going to be continuing with it soon enough.

I can get it to work perfectly if it's a publicly hosted server with my friends, but when the private match box is checked, it autoejects players whenever you try to start it. As for LAN, that's even worse, you'll get dropped every few turns.
Also, the DLC requires all players to have it. Sure it's fine for G&K, but when you want to play as Korea but your friend doesn't have the DLC, it's kind of wierd, as that stops you from being able to do it, even if you have the DLC.
Oh, and the AI is absolutely awful on multiplayer, for some reason.

If you're going for a diplomacy victory, definitely.
Everyone votes you into the U.N. if you're the only one that isn't going to war with them! :v:
I've always found it weird how Korea was like the only dlc not included in Gods and Kings/Goty edition.

Only Isabella was.

It is very worth it because if civs are at war with each other, they end up wasting their resources on the war effort while you can tech up and invade them with grossly superior units.
Just wrecked Bismarck's shit in a naval battle, don't think he counted on me having nuke subs.

Taking all the barbarian camps out was like cleaning out a mouse that died inside the house walls. Seriously, there was like 5 of them around me.
Hm, I just managed to get my influence to -32 on a city-state that was at war with me.
I just love the R.E.D. mod. It only changes the graphics, but it adds so much atmosphere to the game.

Is it on the steam workshop?
Is it on the steam workshop?
Don't think so. Here's where I got it from: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=383375
