I'm sure G&K was £5 during the Autumn sale, no?
I'm not sure. I got it ages ago from a slightly dodgy russian site for about £4. That was just the latest offer I saw and someone was asking about it.
Can someone tell me what having religion be the only religon in an enemy city can help with besides the religion bonuses from beliefs?

Nothing other than certain bonuses if you invest in certain perks of religion.
ok for some reason i was under the impression you could possibly take a city with religion but i think that's civ 4?
Picked up the Civilization/Scenario packs, bar Spain and Inca in the sale, if G&K goes on sale for any more, I'll pick that up too.
Definitely picking this up. I have had my eye on this game for well over a year, and now that it is on sale for dirt cheap, I cannot possibly resist.
Could someone tell me what my approx. framerate would be with my system setup?
AMD Phenom II x6 1065T
AMD Radeon HD 6450
8 GB DDR3
Win 7
Can anyone recommend some good mods?
Civilization Nights is a pretty good mod. It makes the beginning of games somewhat harder and there's a G&K and vanilla version for it.

approx. framerate: great. It's really not that hard to run, even on DX11. Not to say it doesn't look great though.

Thanks a ton bud!

I don't think a HD 6450 is going to cut it, honestly. Try grabbing a 5750 if you're on a budget and just want something that's good enough. Amazing card, and it's only about $75 now. Runs everything, though some newer stuff not maxed out. The 6450 is worse than an X850 and that card can't even run EvE with the fancy SM3.0 graphics, and used AGP 8x
Everything else on your rig is good, though
So I've been getting kind of desperate to figure this shit out
A friend bought me a copy of Civ 4 a few weeks ago on Steam. I haven't been able to play it.
All I get is this error.

I have tried everything and then some to figure it out, including every suggestion Steam support has given me so far. No go.
Reinstall Steam and the game? Nope
Run game and Steam as administrator? Nosiree
Run on a different computer? Nope
Try a different windows install? Nope x3
Remove third-party software that could interfere? Nope.
I'm convinced this is something on Steam's end but support ain't having any of it, because they don't have any other reports of this problem.
Does anyone here have any other ideas or suggestions?

Could you link me to where I could buy said card? I can't seem to find it anywhere...

Have you tried going into the game files and running it on it's own without steam running?

Sorry, I must've misread the GPU. You might have to play on low settings, but it shouldn't be that bad. I would HIGHLY suggest trying the demo to see how you can run it before buying the full game.

Demo ran just fine. Steady 50-60 fps, although how well I do when I start expanding like fuck is still to be determined.

By the way, what is the closest thing to an "Economic Victory"?

When you get closer to the endgame times, loading from turn to turn can take a while even on a good PC, I don't know how well optimized loading is for lower-end PCs
Sorry for the random begging but this has been bugging me for the past week.
Whenever I try to join my friends game (we were half way through it) after he bought gods and kings, he just drops in the lobby.
His ping goes 5, 10, then 15 and he disconnects. The same on his end but it says I drop. I can join anyone elses game but his.
Bought Gods and Kings, makes the game so much more fun, it's unbelievable.
Turn 5: Rome declares war on me. Every time they near Hamburg I kick their asses. We eventually get peace after five turns.
Turn 11: Aztecs declare war on me. Every time they near Hamburg I kick their asses. We eventually get peace after seven turns.
Turn 19: Rome declares war on me AGAIN. Same story AGAIN.
WILL IT NEVER END!?

Their damn artillery kills me whenever I start advancing.

When in doubt, get a bigger gun.
Like three of my friends just got steam and bought Civ 5.
I am ready to learn.

Get ready to inadvertently expand past 3 cities too quickly in the first few turns, ignoring happiness and eventually getting fucked by either, Rome, Gengis, Attilla or mother-fucking Napoleon, all the while observing the lucky bastard (Usually Alexander) who gets to spawn in North America, 500000000000 miles away from any other civ.
