I ground Attilla's 10 unit strong attack to screeching halt with two citadels next to a city, two crossbowmen, a pikemen and a knight. feels good to be Ethiopia.
Just lost a utopia project victory when i was eight turns away because the indians (Who were along with me one of the most technologically advanced civs suprisingly) got a time victory. I feel cheated.
Turn 5: Rome declares war on me. Every time they near Hamburg I kick their asses. We eventually get peace after five turns. Turn 11: Aztecs declare war on me. Every time they near Hamburg I kick their asses. We eventually get peace after seven turns. Turn 19: Rome declares war on me AGAIN. Same story AGAIN. WILL IT NEVER END!?
I get somewhat the same thing, As the US, Russia every once in a while ends up delcaring war on me, of course, it always ends up as a tie because we declare peace after I gain a victory or two aganst them. I dont get why the AI Has to be an ass like that, but still I always end up teaching the dumbarses in Russia a lesson by annexing a town or two and defeating their units. .... And yet they refuse to learn. Someday their capital is going to get the boot because they decided to declare war on me yet again for the umpteenth time.
Lesson learned: NEVER activate time victory.
I only activate domination victories, I'm too used to most rtses where your job is to destroy everything.
I only activate domination victories, I'm too used to most rtses where your job is to destroy everything.
that, and it's really the only endgame that feels final.
Lesson learned: NEVER activate time victory.
The developer's insistence on time victory pisses me off. If you start a game and don't like the world or realize you set it up with the wrong settings, then return to the menu and start another, all settings are conserved except time victory. I often end up missing it and getting screwed over.
on my first game ever, I finished and launched the space rocket like, maybe 15 turns before 2070 happened.
I am trying to host an Internet game with 1 friend but we cannot get it to work. When I host it, it will say for him that I have been disconnected and have been replaced by an AI but he still appears in the lobby for me and when he hosts it does the same. Please help!
just got my paws on Civ V It being the first Civ game I've actually played (Civ IV STILL doesn't work for me) - holy shit I'm addicted Me and a friend started a game last night and we played until 2 AM :v: Gonna continue it today hopefully. I bought G&K during the thanksgiving sale but I haven't played it yet because I have been playing Endless Space. These 4X games are too addictive.
So I decided to play as the USA and I started in the modern era. Almost immediately Carthage decides it would be a good idea to declare war on me. Around the start I hardly had a military and was really afraid that they would just come stomp me. [t]http://i.imgur.com/xMw3i.jpg[/t] This was probably the extent of my military, but despite them attacking me and nearly winning I built up my military for nearly 15 years before assaulting them on land and sea. Around 1920 I had naval and land superiority. I had taken Utique and I was shelling Carthage with artillery and Ironclads. [t]http://i.imgur.com/x1Sgb.jpg[/t] Eventually after shelling them for 5 or so turns they lost Carthage. [t]http://i.imgur.com/PJ6G2.jpg[/t] You lose mother fucker.
I suggest everyone to vote for civ 5 in the community choice vote, so us without gods and kings can get it 4 cheap
According to GMG, they'll be doing an exclusive on G&K for 85% off on the 30th. Add their extra 30% and you've got the best price you're gonna get.
Maybe it'd be better to wait until the 30th, then.
Bought Gods and Kings. Should I get the GOTY upgrade?
yes i suggest that everybody gets the goty upgrade it improves both the single player and multi-player experience vastly the only things you don't get are the korea dlc and ancient wonders dlc (but you can get them in a bundle that is currently $1.86)
By the way, this weekend on GMG Gods and Kings will be 85% off.
So I'm pretty sure I'm the kind of person you don't want running a country. I just nuked Russia twice because...fuck it, why not?
Finally was able to pick up gods and kings. Convinced a few friends to pick this up too, we're going to play a game just the 4 of us over our break. Gonna be good, might post results.
Starting on a secluded area is such an advantage, early game, at least, Paris is producing every wonder so far in under 10 turns, it's crazy.
Starting on a secluded area is such an advantage, early game, at least, Paris is producing every wonder so far in under 10 turns, it's crazy.
Yeah but it's harder to expand, because usually you need to trade around to get ample luxuries Also you don't get that money boost from selling your excess resources

The only other Civ was in South America (which i stamped out quickly early game) Once I got around to the Modern era I started up my war machine and headed for Eurasia
Yeah but it's harder to expand, because usually you need to trade around to get ample luxuries Also you don't get that money boost from selling your excess resources
I'm connected to England, but through shallow water, so I can get to there by sailing, and I'm pretty sure England is next to someone.
Got this on the Community Choice sale, played 12 hours straight.
I am in a wee bit of a predicament folks. Playing as Japan, found 4 cities within the span of 30 turns. Find out I am sharing a rather too close relationship (border) with Arabia. Ethiopia, Arabia, and Rome all unite against Denmark, kick his sorry ass, leave him with only a couple of cities. Intrigue tells me I am Arabia's next target. lol Rush to research gunpowder and chem, I amass a fairly big invasion force, rush in and take Mecca, Damascus, and raze Medina. He is holed up in fucking Baghdad with camel archers and crossbowmen, surrounded by jungle and a mountain on the side that I am trying to attack from. The only ways in are a northwest route through tons of jungle, a route through a small lake, and a southwest route with a couple of hills. The fucker already severely beat one of my cannons, crushed two musketmen, and is so far holding his own against what force I have already landed from the lake, but is slowly losing ground. To top things off, Ethiopia is beginning to be an ass and settle/expand cities close to where I am having my main forces march through. I don't want to start a multi-front war, especially with me on the offensive against Ethiopia. What do. [editline]29th December 2012[/editline] Also, I am going to try a domination victory, if that helps any.
Goddamn, I hate this game. It's always like, "Just one more turn until my Golden Age ends and then I'll quit.". Promptly two hours, and like 100 turns later, I finally get around to quitting. Only to start playing again an hour later.

Of course, this is your game so it might have been the best move for you. I would have attacked arabia but just play it on the defensive so they waste production on their military so when I attack them later to wipe them out, I have a much more powerful and advanced military and they're stuck with horsemen
this is the perfect game to play on the bus trip down to Disney....that's 18 hours from where I live.
Just nuked Russia six times. They won't give me their damned resources so I'm gonna nuke them some more. Poor bastards. [editline]29th December 2012[/editline] Russia just declared war on Germany. Probably trying to get some land that isn't totally irradiated.
