i used to love civ 5 but it got boring eventually since id just press the turn button every 5 minutes is gods and kings worth it?
yes
yes
ur very convincing
ur very convincing
It adds tons of stuff and makes peacetime less annoying. You can actually be somewhat aggressive in peace with espionage and religion, so it's overall more interesting. also, it revamps the AI, city-states and their quests and just makes for an overall more interesting experience. I could never play CiV again without Gods and Kings.
Also makes naval combat seem more viable and robust.
How do I get good at this game, I am not very good at 4x games in general since I always just play however and dont care if I lose but since G&K adds Sweden I feel more patriotic than usual and now I want everyone to kneel before me. What do? [editline]1st January 2013[/editline] Ok I do care about whether I win or not the problem is that I can't win at higher difficulties since I'm just too scrub.
just won a conquest victory in civilization IV, feels good actually, first conquest victory I've ever had. does anyone else here mostly just get time victories?
So I was focusing on Science and wealth, then Spain decides to break off the trade and rape me up the ass. I responded with bombarding their troops from my three city's, all nestled into the coast. Now I'm fighting back with the early war ships.
I think I ruined a friendship with Keshiks last night. It was late and we kinda both went insane, at one point I think I thought I was Genghis Khan.
Had Glorious Russia researched ocean-faring boats instead of gunpowder, Glorious Russia would've aided you.
Which dumb fuck at Firaxis thought it would be a good idea to bind the default Steam screenshot key to quickload? :suicide:
What dumb fuck at Valve allows you to change your screenshot htokey? :suicide:
Well I would have changed the key had I known it would do that before I lost a lot of turns for trying to take an innocent screenshot. A new player to the game shouldn't have to predict that something (relatively) catastophic will be bound to the same key.
I've been playing Civ since I was little, and I've never actually won a game. :(
Just won a game with a science victory as Washington. Took me forever, but it was one of my most satisfying games and first win. I just started a new game too, after promising myself not to get lost in another game.
i used to love civ 5 but it got boring eventually since id just press the turn button every 5 minutes is gods and kings worth it?
Be expansionist, it gives you more city planning to do, more resources to fight over, too.
Catherine is one of the AI characters most likely to backstab you as far as I know. Ghandi is probably the close second. [editline]30th December 2012[/editline] Hell, I'd sooner be friends with Alex or Monty then either of the above.
Washington too, he's such an asshole early game, then rounds off later and becomes nicer.
I hate washington. He expands everywhere like the plague and to boot it off, he always declares war.
Jesus, I just baresely avoided having Nobunaga settle a city inches from my capital. He's literally on another CONTINENT, and in just 30 turns he has like four cities on ours. I ask him not to settle any more cities near me, "okay". Next thing I know, he has a settler going past THREE of my cities, to a little peninsula that my capital's on. It was WAY too close for comfort. After I settled a new city there, his settler just disappeared. Also, am I correct in assuming that Privateers can attack anyone without declaring war on them?

[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/BFKbv.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Then Spain attacked and buttraped me.

I found out: the privateer just captures enemy ships instead of destroying them if it beats them in combat, and when it attacks a city, you get gold from the attack. That could be useful!
ships being able to attack coastal cities was the best thing ever. it forces you to actually build ships to defend your waters. Not to mention if you build a good fleet, you can demolish enemy coastal cities in a few turns.
Can ships capture cities? I don't remember. I think only the "melee" one can.
Well, yeah. Only melee units can capture cities.
Well, yeah. Only melee units can capture cities.
I thought it was only the Dutch Sea Beggar that could actually capture cities
I thought it was only the Dutch Sea Beggar that could actually capture cities
Nope; triemes, caravels, privateers, ironclads, destroyers, and all one-civilization-exclusive variants of these ships (e.g. sea beggar) can all capture coastal cities.
Is there anyway to deliberately ruin my relations with a country to the point that they declare war on me? I want to take Spain's territory for their iron but I don't want that damn "warmonger" thing hanging over my head when I'm trying to stay friendly with China and Russia.

I revised my tactics and I am now a tiny bit better Civ player. Hooah.
I find it slightly amusing that the Opera House is replaced by the Ceilidh Hall as the Celts.
