Is there anyway to deliberately ruin my relations with a country to the point that they declare war on me? I want to take Spain's territory for their iron but I don't want that damn "warmonger" thing hanging over my head when I'm trying to stay friendly with China and Russia.
I've always gotten that warmonger thing even though ALL of my wars have been started by other people. (Does it give it to you if you also destroy a civ? Because thats how my wars always end. No point letting the vermin breed and get stronger when you can crush them in one war.)

Most nations think you're a warmonger if you even capture a single city, even if it's recapturing your own city.
It's the main reason Gandhi declares war against me since he dislike warmongers with a passion.
I think I might be having another conquest victory!
destroyed mali empire, and just took montezuma's capital + 4 cities of his.
I don't think so, I'm pretty sure nothing can attack without first declaring war.
Interestingly, privateers can attack enemy ships on international waters without declaring war, IIRC.
Russia denounced me again

Then Germany declared war on me (making it a free for all between us three) so I prepared an army. So far I've taken Bochum. My next objective is Dresden.

I also nuked Hanover and Bonn

Moral of the story? Don't fuck with America.
What leaders other than Bismarck have post-Industrial special units?
I have never been bothered to check if any others are worth my time

America has the Flying Fortress bomber and Japan has the Zero fighter. I think that's about it, actually.

Those things are fucking nasty, especially if you upgrade into them from the berserkers.
Don't forget about the Norwegian Ski Infantry!
Technically not, since they replace Riflemen, an Industrial era unit.
Also, I forgot about the French Foreign Legions, which are also post-industrial (they replace the Great War Infantry).

convenient steam sale is very convenient
I have Civ V base game, and G&K. Is it worth 'upgrading' to GOTY for for $5? Is it worth buying Korea/Wonders DLC for $2.24?

I bought the upgrade but not the Korea DLC.

Oh god why is it downloading the whole game from scratch

If you like the game then definitely, the more content the better
I've never played a turn-based strategy game before and I'm quite eager to get into the series. Which Civilization game should I buy as a newcomer?
Civ 4.
Well, I'm massively biased and say 2. But the 3rd one and all its expansions are like $1.25 with the sale right now, so that's a really good place to start. The 5th one I've enjoyed immensely, but they changed some stuff up in the last few that makes me miss the 2nd one. Then again, in the 2nd one you could lose a chopper to a phalanx unit at the drop of a hat, so...
I'd say Civ V is better for a complete newcomer.
Should I just get this pack off Amazon?

might as well just buy the latest game, the only thing the older games have over V really is the nostalgia factor for long timers of the series
Yeah there's no real need to play 1-3, but I'd say 4 is still worth playing, and I'm not influenced by nostalgia cause I didn't play it till after 5. But only bother with it if you love 5
Playing Civ 5, doing decent on the Japan map as Nobunaga. Thai is above me, and China is below. I'm trying to become friends with the Thai, and China already declared war on me. After they offer nearly everything they have, we make peace. 10 turns later, China declares war again, along with the Thai.
I have to fight a war on two fronts, now.

Yeah, but Civ 3 Conquests had some of the best scenarios out of all the games in my opinion.
I can't stand anything before 5 after playing with 5's combat system, stacks of doom were so boring.
What I really dislike is the lack of separate turns during multiplayer combat. Whoever can attack the fastest wins. It's a turn based strategy, not an RTS.
Most of my playthroughs have become into: Play as china, expand and get as much science as possible and then steamroll everyone with tanks while they still have basic gunners.
Can ships capture cities? I don't remember. I think only the "melee" one can.
coastal cities act as both ground and water tiles, as in boats can go though them so cities can be captures by melee boats, but i don't think there are any unless a civ has a special boat i forgot about.

G&K changed many naval ranged units to melee.
I'm so sad. My computer can barely run Civ 5 at some of the lowest graphical settings. Any fixes?
decided to get civ 5 since it's low in price
holy shit it's amazing
i'm guessing I should get G&K as soon as possible?
