Hitler
I wonder if I'm wrong for wanting Hitler as on official civ leader.
Also, I'm playing a game as russia:

I currently have more than double all the other civ's score.
Also the entirety of the cities to the right of the mountain range on my continent are China. She declared war on me and I took 7 of her cities in all, including her capital.
Also spain was in this game but france killed her.
How is that picture relevant to what is being said

I've wondered if leaders could change with era, But i guess that would be pretty confusing a take a lot of effort.

But really freaking cool, or at least certain policy trees trigger leader changes?
Does anyone else miss seeing the leaders get new outfits for every age?
As nations go I'm pretty sure the main reason they included america is because otherwise people would complain. In terms of Civ's gameplay it should probably count as a British puppet state as well. In a game where you start at 40,000 BC a couple hundred years of prosperity is nothing.
Something doesn't seem to want me to play anymore. I've been forced to start 4 new games because I crashed once, then a power line transformer outside my window decided to explode for absolutely no reason (it's not storming or anything) and knock out my power...twice. This was all after being about 50 or so turns into each of the three games that got ended without saving. Hopefully I can finally start a game now that my power's back, I NEED MY CIV FIX
Wow that's just a hugely inaccurate post. Germany is only a 150 year old nation and it hadn't been a unified country since like 890.
One could just handwave that as saying the Germany in Civ V also counts as the Holy Roman Empire and/or Prussia. (With the Landsknecht and so on)

Actually, they put Austria as the Holy Roman Empire in. Or atleast that's what it says at the loading screen.

I guess so. If you want to be pedantic about it, Austria is the archduchy of Austria within the HRE + the Austrian empire up until 1918, and Germany is Brandenburg, Prussia and Germany since its unification.
Hello, i am looking forward to buy Civ V, but i dont really know which Contect i should buy. So the Steam page says they are 11 DLC's and the Addon, which of course i am going to buy. But what of the other small DLC is recommendable?
I'd buy all of them, except maybe the Polynesia one because I feel they're... not really worth being a civilization :v: But generally speaking, the more, the merrier. If you absolutely must get only a few, be sure to pick up Korea or Babylon, since they're the only science-focused civilizations.
Yeah, i think i am going to do that. Unfortunately the Steam Holiday Sale is over. But i think for the first start the GotY is entertaining enough. I'll just wait for the next Sale when all the DLCs are getting reduced. TBH i kinda hoped until now that there is sometime a Complete Edition of the game, but now i heard from the 2nd Addon. So this is not going to happen in the next months i think. And thank you

If you go to IntKeys, you can get Civ V Gold (comes with a few of the DLCs) and Gods and Kings expansion for $15. I just did that recently.
What I want to know is why there are 3 south american tribal empires but still no poortuguese, civ 4 had them.
It annoys me that AA guns and SAMs can only attack one aircraft per turn, how does that make any sense?

otherwise could be pretty OP, I mean AA is already cheaper than airplanes if they could defend more than once in a turn air raids could effectively become useless

Same reason why any other unit can only attack one unit per turn.

Well, I don't see any special AA/SAM units around here, so no.

Attack is the wrong word, I should have said 'defend against'. In my opinion they're essentially defensive units despite the fact that they defend an area rather then themselves.
edit: Maybe if they were overall weaker against aircraft? In WW2 flak (by which I mean large caliber anti-aircraft artillery that fire shells with timed fuzes, like the 88) required huge amounts of guns to be effective, you couldn't just have a few and hope to shoot anything down.
I could see it working if they could shoot as many times as they have movement points. That way it's not incredibly OP because moving them around means they won't be able to shoot, thus making air raids on other cities an option.
the greeks are such dicks
first they denounced me, then wanted a declaration of friendship, and then went to war with every city-state ally of mine (and lost every one of those wars)
I should kill them off for good

So I thought of a cool mod for this game.
The mod would be an additional unit, a mercenary unit. Basically they couldn't be made through production or money, but would instead become available through unit upgrading. When your unit is outdated and its on your territory, there would be a separate option to turn the unit into a mercenary, allowing it to not only upgrade and keep its xp, but would make it not cost money when not moving/attacking and give it the ability to fight enemies anonymously (thus not going to war). The downsides to this would be that the unit would cost double maintenance when moving/attacking/defending and would have something like a 25% less combat effectiveness. Furthermore, when taking cities with them it would turn the city into a new city state that would would have bonuses multipliers to the invader's influence.
Obviously it couldn't be used for world domination as the city states wouldn't be part of your country, but it would be more focused on skirmishes to cripple the enemy. In order to counter them, enemies could use spies to gather intelligence on the mercenaries (would say something like: "x nation has mercenaries in your territory!").
I feel like that's adding unneeded depth to the game. Besides, what's stopping someone from mass producing these and just only using a few when needed?
