Did you build a palace in one of your cities? I did notice there's no actual capital defined in that tutorial
No... does a city require a palace to become a capital? Why don't they tell you these things? :byodood:
No... does a city require a palace to become a capital? Why don't they tell you these things? :byodood:
I only figured it out because there was no star on any of the cities, and I remember in Civ4 using a palace to relocate my capital [editline]whazzup?[/editline] Also you don't need a palace to become a capital, you need a palace to change your capital
How the fuck do you connect a city-state to your capital? I keep on telling my workers to connect to the state while they're on the capital, but they just sit there doing shit.
How the fuck do you connect a city-state to your capital? This is will happen with any city, state or not.
that did cross my mind, but I didn't try it weird though that it has to be next to the city, rather than on it
Might get it, but I'll probably just get Civ 4 to be on the safe side. Don't want my graphics card to blow up.
Im using a ATI 3650 HD and it works perfectly fine.
Is there any way to remove an improvement on a tile? My capital is covered by them and I can't make a road to the state.
ugh 300 turns in and turns now it takes like 15 seconds for a turn to end.. with a quad-core !!
Is there any way to remove an improvement on a tile? My capital is covered by them and I can't make a road to the state.
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't roads just go through improvements? Anyway, most units have an ability to destroy improvements, including friendly improvements.
Is there any way to remove an improvement on a tile? My capital is covered by them and I can't make a road to the state.
Roads can be built over all other improvements (I think, aside from railroads). I think the only improvement you can remove (without replacing them with another ones) are roads.
ugh 300 turns in and turns now it takes like 15 seconds for a turn to end.. with a quad-core !!
Same, it feels like everything takes ages like this, feels like 50 turns have passed then I look and only 3 have really passed.
Got up to 315 turns myself, each turn being a bit over 1 minute.
Plus when the game prompts you to end your turn, then realises "Hey shit, this unit over here you don't care about at all hasn't moved yet!"
In the later games, does passing turns in the strategic view make a difference in the load time (even though most of time is caused by the pc doing loads of logical decisions, rather than the animation and movement).
The workers started building the road, but then stopped and now they won't even start building the road at all. What's the way to destroy an improvement?
In the later games, does passing turns in the strategic view make a difference in the load time (even though most of time is caused by the pc doing loads of logical decisions, rather than the animation and movement).
I tried this, but didn't notice a big difference, still I haven't taken the time when doing it so I can't really say. 360 turns in and it's getting worse, now the game freezes for 10 seconds when passing the turn, then it starts working (so it becomes 10 seconds of the freeze plus 20 of the actual loading, for a total of 30 seconds), so now I nearly have to wait longer to pass the turn than the time I actually spend doing shit.
The workers started building the road, but then stopped and now they won't even start building the road at all. What's the way to destroy an improvement?
Don't forget that if there is a unit at the destination, another civilian or an enemy unit, it will stop construction.
So one of the tutorials said that you should attack with multiple units at once, does that mean multiple units in one turn or is there some way to make units attack at the same time?
In one turn.
How big is the biggest map on this game? Considering you guys are talking about taking russia and stuff. [editline]08:31PM[/editline] Because it would be fun taking over the ENTIRE world.
How big is the biggest map on this game? Considering you guys are talking about taking russia and stuff. [editline]08:31PM[/editline] Because it would be fun taking over the ENTIRE world.
I'll try to get a screenshot of a fully uncovered, huge Earth map.

What the hell is up with those chinese Chu-ko-nu archers? Jesus, they rape everything i throw at them. A couple of those can destroy a city in a single turn, and they fell my armies of samurai with absolutely no trouble. That must be the most overpowered unit i've seen so far.
Thank you Howling and Noth: That would be really great.
I'm 500 turns in and I've not even touched the America's or even explored all of Asia/Australia. [editline]04:47PM[/editline] im playing a marathon game though so everything takes a hundred fucking turns to do [editline]04:47PM[/editline] im playing a marathon game though so everything takes a hundred fucking turns to do
You can skip the intro. Go to: (Vista, might vary) C:Users/YourPersonalThing/Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/ Find 'UserSettings.ini' Open in Notepad Change:
SkipINtroVideo = 0 to SkipIntroVideo = 1
Congrats. You will never see the intro ever, just a black loading screen while the game loads. If you're not on Vista, then all you need to do is find UserSettings.ini
Mabye I should try it, seems like a good game even though I haven't played the others.
Huzzah, I love the new system where you don't stack
Ramses II is a fucking prick. Every single turn he tells me my civilization is a cultural fail and all we do is smash rocks together. And I can't find the fuck because I met him somewhere with 2 ships that just barely saw eachother. I guess he's somewhere in NA. So I've dedicated the rest of the game to finding that egyptian prick and I'm going to fuck his shit up. (The Persians did the same but they are dead now :buddy:)
Japanese = best civilization ever!! No damage penalty when units are injured :D
