Anyone else have a World War yet? That shit is crazy.
I had literally everyone at war with me and I killed them all with saramies.

I still haven't seen Gandhi destroy anything yet, sadly. Augustus Caesar though once said my army was pitiful and that I should be put out of my misery, then next turn wanted me to join him in a war against Bismarck. I love this game...

Haha. Playing as Japan, just entered Medieval Era, now researching Steel. It's 500 BC and some people didn't even hit Classical :buddy:
Who's fighting who?
Was playing the placement mod where it puts countries where they are in real life. Was working with France, England, and Rome. Germany was in cooperation with Russia, Ottoman, and India. Germany attacked England, England asked for assistance. One thing lead to another and I ended up conquering Mexico and most of Europe. I never beat Russia as they paid me for peace. Had a technological victory in the end of this one, conquered all my allies too when I liberated their cities. Nice big world controlled by America. :fsmug: Besides Russia.

That sounds awesome.

I'll try the placement mod on my second play through. Does the start start off slow?
http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88426 True Start Location. I recommend playing as USA. I also recommend using Standard Earth size so you have a nice distance away from everyone else. Saving the game doesnt work right so youll have to set aside a couple hours to play through, that or launch save games manually. You install the mod ingame through the mods tab. Edit: Dont let the Iroquois or Aztecs get ahead of you if you play as USA, things get very bad.
how is Japan on that map?
Going to buy it today  Can't wait. Although these games will take a long time and this year I won't have much. Nevermind, this game is the shit.
Just to make sure, Civ V is using steamworks, right?

Is there anyway to lift the 500 turn limit?
I just loaded a save and the Great Wall now spans my whole empires border and not just a few tiles around my capital.
Is there anyway to lift the 500 turn limit?
Wait patiently for someone to mod it in I guess.
There's a turn limit? What?
There's a turn limit? What?
Not a turn limit, the game just ends at 2050. It's possible to win sooner though.
this game just pulled a very good joke. sometimes in civilization five various indicators pop up which basically indicate which civilization leaders are the most hard working, the most caring, etc. Five minutes ago a table popped up which indicated which people were the most literate, I was at the bottom of the list and the title of the table was "The mostest literate people".

Re-installed Civ 4, let's see how much I suck at it.
Not a turn limit, the game just ends at 2050. It's possible to win sooner though.
Eh, can't you just uncheck "Time" from the victory conditions?
That doesnt fix it. However you can edit the game files and change the end year.
Well then what happens at 2050 if Time isn't a victory condition? Is it a draw?
On Civ 3 I was always just behind a quite a bit behind on tech, on Civ 5 I'm way ahead and had a city churning out Death robots in 16 turns.
