Cities can grow up to 37 Hexes?! What could they grow up to on Civ IV?
I've never played any Civilization games, but I own Civilization IV. I could never really get into RTS's, does that mean I wouldn't like Civ IV?
This site has a lot of info on Civ 5. Some of it might be slightly outdated. http://well-of-souls.com/civ/
I've never played any Civilization games, but I own Civilization IV. I could never really get into RTS's, does that mean I wouldn't like Civ IV?
Civ is a 4x game not an RTS.
Can't wait.
My heart skipped for a second, I thought they removed Persia :saddowns:
Civ IV or other Civs aren't RTS, they're 4Xs.
Hey OP, how come in your post it says I can pre-order civ 5 from steam and get the Mesopotamia thing for 29.99 euro's (10 Euro's off) when in steam even just the regular game costs 49.99$ (I'm guessing it's similar for euro's as well as dollars) and the delux edition with the Mesopotamia thing for 59.99$, is it really 29.99 for euro's and 59.99 for dollars?
I've been lurking on the forums, and these are a few points that I've picked up: Barbarians now start with camps, which act as spawn points, making them harder to remove and more annoying (but don't forget that cities can defend themselves). Terra maps will return. There is a 36 page thread trying to explain to people what steam is. They are currently up to describing the cloud save system. Nukes can now completely destroy cities, unlike in Civ 4. Cities can grow to 37 hexes in size. You can simplify how much you need to micromanage a city. As well as no religions, there will be no corporations. Advisers will only be words on a screen, not like Civ 2. EDIT: Added a load of new article links in the OP.
aww, i love the advisers
Where are the Spanish?

If people want to see more in game screenshots from the more recent builds, plus getting to see more of the HUD and cities, IGN has loads of pictures. http://uk.media.pc.ign.com/media/062/062125/imgs_1.html
As a Civ fan, I'm looking forward to it.

did I just hear keith FUCKING david
I hope this really spices up the combat. I never liked the combat in the games because it was rather ridiculous at times. Spearman getting killed by simple warriors in the openfield or similiar scenarios. Looks really good and I can't acutally wait. The hexagons are also a cool additon.
Oh cool, no mac support.
Must .. BUY!
Oh cool, no mac support.
No mac support at launch. Whilst they have not officially announced it, they are planning to release it for the mac at some undefined point in the future.
Do you know what would be awesome? A Fall from Heaven mod for Civ V. What do you guys think, feasible?
Do you know what would be awesome? A Fall from Heaven mod for Civ V. What do you guys think, feasible?
They have said that mod tools will be available from launch, and that creating, uploading, downloading and the actual loading of mods has been steamlined in such a way that you can search, download and load the mod without ever closing the game. So yes, it is entirely feasible that civ 4 mods will be available for civ 5, however, the textures and models will probably have to be redone for the new engine that they have built from the ground up. On a related note, they have also confirmed that you can import Civ 4 maps.
I can't wait till this comes out. The game is just sitting in my Steam Library mocking me.... UNLOCK already! I should be quite interesting to see how gameplay changes with the new tiles system and the one-unit-per-tile feature.
Just hope I can run it, I don't mind playing on all low as long as I get at least 40fps throughout a game.
Also hoping I can run it.
I hope spies can level up and that there's more options for them to do. I always thought the espionage was lacking a bit.
I'm so pumped that they fixed unit stacking. It always pissed me off that there would be 100 some odd units just chilling on cities.
I hope the game is more like Civ 3 than Civ 4, I loved Civ 3.
Wah cities growing till 37 Hex? That's big. But what really made me jizz is...
Nukes now rase cities unlike Civ IV
Say good bye to the no-nuclear weapons agreement. I WILL SHOW THE YANKY BASTARDS HOW THE COMMIE JAPS WILL RISE AGAIN!!!! DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU! /caps [editline]07:55PM[/editline] Also no corporates, fuck yeah.
God damnit they removed religions, how am I going to wage holy war now?
