I attacked a City State and everyone was butthurt. Bismark, Cathrine and Ghandi were pissed off to no end. So I crushed them.
shit, this AI isn't such a dumbfuck like in other games, i am gathering units around Paris for an attack, but napoleon is also sending in swordsman This is going to be fun [editline]02:32PM[/editline] or not, he is getting soldiers behind my line :ohdear: Probably to rape my city while im finishing his
Seriously, Ghandi's bloodthirst must be intentional, nearly every game with him turns into World War Ghandi.
yay my first ever real game is a succes, i managed to kill napoleons capital. Tough great losses have been made [editline]02:48PM[/editline] endscore of 1879, level winston churchill [editline]03:00PM[/editline] started a new game as china. in 6 turns i found 2 ruins(one for pottery and the other for my warriors to become spearmen) and 1 wonder Just hoping i won't get ghandi on me :v: [editline]03:03PM[/editline] another ruin with a bad map, not interesting and barbarians :gonk: i crashed
I've just started playing Civilization V 3 days ago. I have no idea what I'm doing (I've never played any Civilization games) and I'm not exactly too good at it, but GODDAMN I am so addicted. On Saturday I played from when I woke up to 4am in the morning. Something like 18 hours spent on a game that I don't even understand, in one sitting. This is definitely the most addicting game I've ever played.
http://steamcommunity.com/id/toastedspyro/games?tab=all :colbert:
Playing as japanese, start taking over every single city state, china doesn't like this too much, I crush them with my bushido, Persians and a handful of city states left, get samurai, rape everything in my path, country is in ruins, all alone on continent, have to get my empire up and running before I encounter the last 3 civs. Edit: How exactly are you playing CIV 5, spyro?

Fucking WANT. I already have £40 reserved for Fable III. It'll take a couple of months to get enough for Civ V
Maybe he has another account? That's how I'm playing.
[IMG_thumb]http://imgur.com/JiKpz.jpg[/img_thumb] Reminds me of my mom. :l
Drop a nuke on one of his cities, nothing teaches respect better than the good ol' nuke.
damnit bismarck, the fucker placed a city right next to one of mine, ill make him regret the pact of cooperation too. [editline]05:14PM[/editline] oh, he wants a pack of secrecy against the greek, ok. [editline]05:15PM[/editline] greek wants a pact of secrecy against bismarck :v: too bad, i crashed again as soon as he asked (when i pressed shift-tab for steam)
I start a game as the Americans, on Small Continents. So I send my scout around the continent and don't see anyone besides Edinburgh and Dublin. I decide to put my first settler southeast of Washington right by a river. Guess who's on the other side of that fucking river. Fucking Gandhi. My first instinct is to run the fucking other way, but I had already settled New York. My next instinct is to rush Horseman and take that fucker out. [big fucking mistake] Several turns go by, I have a couple of horsemen built and decide to get some experience for them so they can heal when sieging Delhi. The first barb settlement I go for has the brutes outside of the settlement, so I try to rush in. One move too short. I click next turn, and guess who's on the other side of that fucking barb settlement. Fucking Gandhi. His Warrior trots right in, and gets upgraded to Spearmen. Oh shit. In an act of desperation, I GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE. After a bit of cowering, I move my four horsemen to Delhi. Unsurprisingly, Gandhi has expanded about 3 cities to the east. I rush into Indian territory, and there's that damn spearmen. Along with an assortment of archers. I get my shit wrecked. Next turn, Gandhi sends me a message saying I am weak and pathetic, and he will crush me. I quit the game immediately after.
Holy mother of god, i defeated the Ottoman empire! This just goes to show that one should never give up, no matter how dire the situation looks. This is my best game of Civ ever. King difficulty is just so perfect, i love it. Despite my civilization being completely obliterated by 1850, i won. I settled a little city on an unexplored continent before losing my final city in the homeland. While my empire was wiped from the face of earth (19 cities, all lost in under 100 years), and the Ottoman empire grew to an unstoppable world force of 61 cities, 1200 gold income, and a bank account of over 200000 gold, my little colony grew. In 2125, the Ottoman empire declared war on my russian friends and took their capital. Only 1 capital remained in the world, the capital of the tiny Songhai nation. In 2138, the Ottomans declared war on Songhai, and layed siege to their capital. However, before they could complete the siege, my colony which was by this point 7 cities, finished the spaceship. In 2142, only a couple of turns before the Ottoman empire would have conquered the world, i conquered the stars and won. Look at that tiny score! The Ottoman empire had almost 4000 points, but i still won!
I've never played a Civ game before, and have a lot of trouble with strategy games (RTS or TBS) other than Worms. However, I really want to play Civ V. I'll try it when I get my new PC.
Sounds like an epic game. I really don't know if I'll continue playing this though, I might sell it to a friend who's really interested (thank god for putting this on another account, otherwise I couldn't do this). I think I'll sell it because so far this game has been quite a disappointment. Even combat which is the best new feature from civ4, is too easy against the AI. Just get a little technological advantage, it doesn't even need to be serious, just something like longswordsman before he gets knights (which is quite easy to do), get a few of these units and you can rape the AI. They just aren't very smart at combat, which makes it too easy.
I don't understand how can someone prefer the old civs over this, it's just a major improvement with minor problems and missing features.

[editline]02:09AM[/editline] I was kicking Russia's ass, ready to take over everything, when suddenly they offered me a bunch of gold and luxuries in order for a peace treaty. I thought "okay, that's cool" and agreed. Still in possession of a fresh army, I decided to go attack my other neighbor. Wouldn't you know it. When the peace treaty ended Russia backstabs me and then basically I was fucked. I was now up against two countries with only half an army. Got raped from both sides.
This game needs like an online support team for new players lol. The ingame help doesn't really help new people. I start to get things and then they throw something new at me. Can you set units to keep walking to a place each turn? I have tried right clicking on a far away square but they keep requiring it again every turn. Has anyone gotten the next unit hotkey to work? I keep losing track of some of my units and it would be nice to cycle through them. But , and . have yet to do anything :(. Why do my units walk and give me control of them during turns? I press next turn and then 1 of my units walks and I can control them. Yet everything else is still waiting for the next turn. Great game though. Simple enough that new players shouldn't be completely lost. While still a huge game.
Is there a LAN option for games? I want to play with my friend over hamachi, if that'll work.
Is there a LAN option for games? I want to play with my friend over hamachi, if that'll work.
Yes :pirate: Should buy the game though. Worth the 50$.
Eh, I liked Civ 4 better. Feel free to shower me in boxes.
Eh, I liked Civ 4 better. Feel free to shower me in boxes.
it's your opinion and you're allowed to have one so no box for you
This is the only Civ game I have ever played and will ever play. The others look like nothing compared to this one.
Just beat a Deity difficulty Gandhi. That was ridiculously easy.
This is the only Civ game I have ever played and will ever play. The others look like nothing compared to this one.
Yeah, the combat in Civ IV looks really bad.
Unit stacks in IV really ruined it imo. The combat in V is far superior.
What should i do with great generals?
What should i do with great generals?
If you got several armies in close vicinity fighting somewhere, bring him to them. He gives a great combat bonus. Otherwise, just use him for a golden age to speed up production and gold income.
I've only ever played Civ IV. Is this worth getting? It looks fun and all but it looks almost identical to Civ IV except prettier, religionless, and with better combat (Thank god, I ALWAYS lost wars in Civ IV because the enemy would just mass 1,000 riflemen on one tile)
