Few questions about Civilization. In multiplayer, you said there was autosave, does that mean you can play long matches with your friend and return to a save game and be in the exact same positions before you left? What's the wall around the nation's territory and what is it's perks?
What's the wall around the nation's territory and what is it's perks?
Great Wall Wonder: enemy land units must use an extra movement point per hex in your territory.
Me and GoldenBullet just had a pretty fun match in MP, after defending against barbarians who just kept coming we both just expanded like crazy. The end result after about 1 hour and 30 mins: My city: [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/CivilizationV_DX11_2010-09-29_22-03-43-46.jpg[/img_thumb] GoldenBullet's city: [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/CivilizationV_DX11_2010-09-29_22-03-57-80.jpg[/img_thumb] It was awesome.
You call four cities expanding like crazy?
So is Civ V worth $50? I have Civ IV and it wasn't bad. (Although I really didn't play it that much.)
So is Civ V worth $50? I have Civ IV and it wasn't bad. (Although I really didn't play it that much.)
There's a demo on Steam, go try it and see what you think.
Oh, there's a demo now? Thanks for telling me, I'll have to go grab that.
You call four cities expanding like crazy?
While keeping up with building farms/camps/mines/trading posts before making another city... yeah, pretty much. Plus consider that this was an MP match and I alt-tabbed a lot, plus we're not the best Civ V players so give us a break and loosen up. You sound like you're saying: Only four cities?"Puh, amateurs... I would've gotten a dozen more" and then smoke a pipe or something. :v:
Making a viking mod for this as there should have been vikings in the game already. Just got to do some of the art and find where civ5 hides the Civ5ArtDefines_Units.xml file and it will be done.
Is there any cheats to Civ V yet? I'm 7 rounds away from a Cultural Victory, and the time runs out. [editline]06:06PM[/editline] I've already lost, but I'd atleast like to win
The tuner is the only cheat. Download the SDK from steam, and edit config.ini in My Documents/My Games/Civilization 5 EnableTuner = 1 Then launch the Tuner and start up the game.
Anyone have any tips for optimizing the game, other than turn all your graphics settings down to low?
Anyone have any tips for optimizing the game, other than turn all your graphics settings down to low?
Unless someone makes an even lower graphics mod, I can't think of much.
Fuck I need to get some sleep.
Won first game with a time victory. Made me realise how slow I am at researching and whatnot, I had only just researched modern armour :derp:
What are the profits of mutual coopeartive pact? Also does a secret alliance make any difference?
Cooperative pacts and secret alliances don't make any real hard difference, you don't get +1 with the guy you cooperate with and -1 with the guy you're plotting against, however, if, say, Gandhi wants you to sign a cooperative pact and you agree, he will expect you to then cooperate with him by agreeing to most of his future propositions. If you fail to do that he'll see it as if you backstabbed him, and will work against you. If he asks you to make a secret pact against, say, Alexander, then he'll expect you to never accept any deals Alexander wants from you. If you do accept anything, that would count as a breach of the secret pact you've made, and he'll hold a grudge. Is it there only in MP games?
Bismark just went ape-shit on his side of the continent and is steam rolling everyone in his path. The little screen that shows military power popped up and told me he had 10 times the military power then me. I really hope my production cities can churn out modern armor fast enough.
O M G Workers have an automatic option!?!? Wow that made my life so much easier!
O M G Workers have an automatic option!?!? Wow that made my life so much easier!
The automatic option is awful though. They'll end up starving your cities.
sweet mod tools.
Dude, this game is fucking amazing. Here's my story: Alright, so I chose the "Earth" map, which is pretty damn big. However, I only chose 8 civilizations - I realized later that I should've picked a LOT more. I start off in North America as Rome, next to Michigan. "Cool!" I think, as I begin to expand my empire. However, soon I realized the truth: I was the only one on the entire continent. And after that, I found out I was the only damn one in the entire western hemisphere! Needless to say, my first one-hundred turns were lonely. Desperate, I sent a single Trireme down around the coast of South America, searching for somebody, anybody.Eventually, it ended up going up the west coast to alaska, and across alaska to Russia. There, I met the Chinese. I was overjoyed! Finally, after 105 damn turns, I found another civilization. China and I proved to be great friends, trading resources, opening our borders, and making a research agreement. I soon met Germany, the Iroquois, France and Siam. Initially they were all quite friendly. Seeking a foothold amongst my new allies, I created a city in Japan, and destroyed Warsaw, who were also occupying the island. I then set my sites towards the mainland - china was ripe for the taking. I made allies with Genoa, and together we attacked China. We swept through the continent, using our superior technology to dominate China. Together, we sieged Beijing, and China was gone. Life was good. However, at this point France, the Iroquois and Siam all declared war on me, simultaneously. My military was spread out and weakened from the taking of China, and I could not stop the tide. One by one, my cities fell. Now, only Japan remains. Through clever positioning, I have been able to stop the advancing Iroquois hordes... but how long can I hold? That remains to be seen.
O M G Workers have an automatic option!?!? Wow that made my life so much easier!
Suddenly, trading posts, THOUSANDS of them!
Heh, I wasn't very serious about that.
All the maps are randomly generated with perameters. I.E. you can do Continents (where the map will consist of 2-3 major landmass continents), Pangea (where it's one giant landmass), Archipeligo (lots of tiny islands), etc. The only one that isn't randomly generated every time you play is the Earth map, which IN A WAY is generated but the game just tells it to generate the map with X rules that basically make it just like Earth. You can play on any size from a tiny earth to a big earth (which still is tiny compaired to real earth size).

Fuck happiness! No matter what I do I always end up with a negative happiness.
I always have to play quick games since I have no time for a long game :saddowns:
Suddenly, trading posts, THOUSANDS of them!
True, but the resources seem balanced. Not a pro though :(.
Just tried the map editor and I gotta say it's very well done. I made a maximum map sized version of Europe and it's crazy big. Two civilizations of several cities could fit into the Turkey area lone.
I always play on small maps because my framerate kind of dies if I don't.
Can anyone gift me this game? I posted in the gift forum, but not a lot of people read it, and I'm bored as hell. <--- My steam profile is over there. Edit: Yeah, okay. Rate me dumb for asking for just one gift.
Is there a way to extract the sound effects from this game? I want the footsteps, badly. [editline]06:57PM[/editline]
Can anyone gift me this game?
