God damnit they removed religions, how am I going to wage holy war now?
It's to stop Isabella I raping everyone if they're not of her religion.
Fuck man the new changes sound ridiculously awesome. I can't wait for it.
Nukes now rase cities unlike Civ IV
Fuck yes, I am a firm believer of nuclear warfare, so this is great news.
I always nuked the fuck out of my enemies to soften them up (fucking counter though, held me back from launching a full-scale barrage of atomic death).
Fuck your hexagons, I want octagons.

Fuck your octagons I want circles.

Fuck your circles, remove the grid.
37 Hex's in size? How big could IV cities get?
I hope spies can level up and that there's more options for them to do.
I always thought the espionage was lacking a bit.
Religion and espionage has been eliminated from Civ 5, according to reports.
Oh god yes.

Religion still plays a minor role I believe. You can lead your nation to be pious.
I hope that they don't put to much attention to the armies and fighting. I always loved expanding and developping my cities.

Now that they have removed stacks, players should hopefully not have to worry about huge piles of armies steam rolling the more peaceful nations. Combined with the fact that player's cities can defend themselves, I think civ 5 allows for a more diplomatic approach to world conquering.
Finally, without stacks geography will actually be alot more involved, things like narrow peninsulas forcing armies into a line.
Shack news has posted a preview of the multiplayer aspects of civilisation V:

ACK, NO!
I'll still get it, but that really kind of irks me. It was useful in Civ4
Rock Paper Shotgun have an interview with part time civ 3 modder turned civ 5 lead designer, Jon Shafer:

I think they replaced religion with a better system. I'm going to miss espionage though.
hexagons nom nom nom
Amazing less then 2 weeks
Mods I see inevitably coming:
Twilight Imperium
Settlers of Catan
Battletech
Something WWII
If I had the time and courage, motivation and whatnot, I might make my own mod.
I'm surprised that this thread isn't so active, but then again everyone's sunken back into III/IV due to this thread...
Great, this releases the same day as Dead Rising 2.
Preordered the deluxe edition on Steam the other day. This can't release soon enough.
If it is anywhere as addicting as Civ IV, goodbye social life.
My dad pre-ordered Civ V, but on his steam account so I'll have to login as him when I want to play
Recently been playing civ iv a shitload with my brother; I love it. Preordered this on amazon

the only things that really disappointed me in civ iv was combat (stacks fffffffffffffffffffff) and nukes, but it looks like they fixed both. sexaaaaay.
I know, IGN put it well. No more doomsday stacks. I hate that feeling in the pit of your gut when someone online suddenly declares war on you, and a unit is moving towards you. You hover your mouse over it and there's a list so huge, it doesn't even fit on the screen.
Then you rage quit.
They better prepackage an Alpha Centauri remake with the game.
Preload has started!
I can't wait for the modding community to get to this game, I look forward to the sci-fi mods that replace islands with planets and seas with space.
