So i take it this game is worth buying?
Eternally grateful my ass. I just liberated New York back to Washington and in a few turns he tells me that I need to be wiped out.
Not to mention the turn after I liberated him he decides to tell me I'm trespassing in his territory.

Try the demo on Steam. I played it until it told me to buy it and I listened. Better than Civ IV in my opinion. although it's a bit steep on the video card requirements.

You know they only cared about your state religion right? You could be Buddhist with only one city with Buddhism and the rest filled with every other religion in the world and they would still like you for being a Buddhist.
I distinctly remember there being some sort of negatives, but whatever, it's been years since I've played Civ IV.
It doesn't seem very optimized.
It gives the kind of performance you'd expect from emulating directx graphics in a virtual machine.
Still fun though

Also, I really dislike the horrible lack of any kind of uniqueness between resources. Getting a patch of Cotton makes my people as happy as finding GOLD? Really? Cotton should provide some small production bonus or happiness bonus, but gold should give a huge income boost along with happiness in at least your capital or something. I also really think resources should stack. Are they saying that having 3 bars of gold is no better than having one? It's really ridiculous. (On a side note, I do think they did the strategic resources really well, although they could afford to be a bit more sparse on standard settings. Does anyone really ever need 25 horses)
there is actually a mod to change the bonuses you get from different resources
what the shit, I couldn't capture a city state with 2 longswordmen, one archer and one trebuchet

I had the same thing, I liberated the russian capital from India. Catherine was all butthurt and upset.
Stupid bitch, I crushed her in one turn again.

City States have fairly strong cities.

It runs fine.
Installing it right now. :buddy:
I'm downloading the demo right now, but 4 hours is a long time.
1%. Damn.
The map size is way too small for earth map types, seriously Europe is packed with civs (even more than it was in reality, I can't even fit a second city).

Awww shit just noticed I'm not Gold Member yet. Guess it waits for the exact day I joined, not the month.
If you've played CIV and got BTS then you should have a mod called RFC, it uses an earth map with an enlarged Europe and Japan for much better gameplay, from what I understand it's possible to take the map and transform it into a ciV map, and it'll only change slightly during the conversion.
I've played RFC more than CIV and there's room in Europe for England (4), France (4), Germany (5), Netherlands (1), Spain (4), Portugal (2), Italy (2), Greece (2), Russia (5 in Europe) and the Vikings (5), where each number represents the number of cities each civ usually has, although there isn't an Italy civ, but usually in the middle ages and onwards there's 2 or 3 cities in Italy.
got a pretty good game going as china
it was me, songhai and rome on a continent, songhai descided to eliminate rome first. they then went to war with me and i quit because i wasn't prepared at all. i then loaded an autosave and built an army to defend myself. after destroying everything he sent at me i marched on his capital and took it. the peace he offered was pretty amazing, he offered me 2 cities of his, a whole bunch of luxury resources, cash etc. I took it of course and later wiped him out.
i'm not preparing for a war with greece, which has at least 15 cities in it's possession. should be an interesting war.
The demo's at 89%. I can't wait to play this shit.
tomorrow is gandhi's birthday
batten down your cities

It'd look better to me if it would actually let me turn on AA.

Oh fuck oh shit oh fuck I just started a earth map and just met him. I'm going to be raped, ain't I?
so i tried invading alexander, it was a pretty big disaster, he has like double the forces of me
loaded a previous save and i invaded napoleon and russia instead to get a foothold. I'm considering either building loads of cruise missiles and declaring war and then he attacks me and i hold him off (i have almost £4K so i think i have for about 20 of them) and then once his army is fuck i will move in
[editline]08:29PM[/editline]
or i may just buy a load of nukes, not sure yet.
I'm playing as America, trying to band all of the empires led by white people into a single group, what should I call my union?
Good god is it just me or is Montezume of the Aztecs programmed to be a really dumb dick?
I mean seriously, he is my ally since the start of the game (I had random civ. in team 1) and all he did so far is complain about my army, and when I was at war and totally steamrolling my enemies, they would send him the peace request, thus giving him a lot of gold and cities. (And leaving me with a sudden "You made peace with x" message, and my troops somewhere far away in the middle of nowhere)
I can't believe he almost lost a city to a cultural city state either (he declared the war himself and launched a massive fail invasion), but without my help he would have lost the city for sure.
Oh and he just lost half his army to a band of barbarian Brutes, and we're in the Industial era for god sake.
It's a disappointment that they removed religion, it added a bit of depth to the game, especially on giant earth maps with 32 civs and such.
"Oh, there's all these civs near me that don't really want to ally, I'll send over a bunch of missionaries, convert them, and get them on my side"

Montezuma has always been a terrible leader and ages behind everyone else in every Civ he's appeared in.
I'm drunk and playing Civ! http://www.ustream.tv/channel/watch-as-i-play-games
They plan on adding animations to mp?
I've never played MP but I'm gonna guess that animations will just ruin it, each time there's a battle it'll take a few seconds, it sucked ASS in CIV so I bet it'll suck in ciV too.

I got on but I could only hear the sounds and only saw a black screen.
I love the batle animations.
I've been playing the demo for a while now. I'm enjoying it a lot. I think I may end up getting the game.
fucking Gandhi is fucking my shit up
Finally won my match on the Earth map.
Took 13 or so hours. :v: Lasted until 2038 AD, 477 turns.
