I love the diplomacy screen for Russia :q:
I hate to say it again but, CIV was better in this regard as well. Isabella of Spain was hot too, and Boudica of the Celts had an even larger cleavage. The really hot thing about Catherine though was her lines: "Is that a treaty in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"
Huge maps are unplayable after some time, it really bogs down even if you have a quad core. Anybody know how "world age" affects maps?
Yeah my first game on a huge map with full players and city states became entirely unplayable even on lowest dx9 settings by the 2020sish. My new game on a standard map with six players and six city states is quite reasonable and it's about 1922 as of now. Does anyone know which affects it more? (Player/AI/City state count as opposed to map size?)

just finished up a three hour play sessions. I had to stop because I'm going out shortly, but i just launched a war with Rome. Over what you ask, the fucker block my road. So i move almost all my army to where he is then proceed to to take 4 of his cities. Doesn't help him that hes a behind technologicaly.
I don't know why Gandhi is a jerk in your games, in mine he tries to make peace by separating us.
so how long do online games last
By the sound of it, the game takes a bit of a toll on computers. If I just have a prebuilt computer, should I avoid this game until I get something better?

Depending on how new your prebuilt is, it may be powerful enough to play the game.

I haven't really played anything graphically intensive, so I don't really know if it could work with anything really new.

What is wrong with you man?! Stop what you're doing right now, and get that baby a video card. Integrated graphics isn't going to work for you, not even well enough to run Team Fortress 2. I got the same Onboard video card and it ran Team Fortress 2 in the single digits with everything knocked to low, and I had to suffer for a week while my HD 5750 was RMA'd But with the 5750, It racks in 150+ Frames per second maxed out... Other than your card though, you're fine, and my HD5750 runs Civ5 Flawlessly, with 4 Gigs of DDR3 Ram, and a Quad Core 3.2ghz. However if that is an actual Video card and not an onboard, then you should be able to play it, maybe not maxed out, but should work. There's a Demo on steam so why not give it a shot Graphically it isn't very intensive, but I can see where RAM and CPU plays a large role, and you're dead set as far as those go
Playing as china, large map, only 5 empires left, Ghandi keeps consuming everything in his path and I'm at war with everyone but America who have their cities constantly attacked by barbarians and are struggling that much their build time for infantry is around 100 turns. :ohdear: They declare war because I'm so called bloodthirsty and all I did was raze 2 cities of one of the first to declare war on me because they built a city right on my border then said I'm too close to them :frog:. The civs are annoying, diplomacy seems next to useless. :ohdear: Ghandi wiped out the ottoman empire in 10 turns after declaring war and Bismark did the same with Japan.
I tried to go through a whole game with only one city, Japan came and raped me in one turn because I kept building all the world wonders.
I set up a game, China Vs. America, I was america, and I built the Great Wall in Africa/Europe. :smug:
Wow. I start the game to test something, thinking I'll just play it for 10 minutes or so. I end up playing it for three hours. :v:

Just one more turn... just one more turn... just one more turn... Girlfriend/wife/roommate: What the fuck are you doing, it's 5 in the morning, don't you have work/classes tomorrow? Just one more turn should be the title of the next megathread IMO.
I have the same problem. Fucking turn button.
I played the demo and it said I had to buy the game when things got really interesting. How can I not buy the game now! (Also if I ran it on the demo it'll run fine on the full version too right? Some games tend to be fucked up when it comes to those things.)
A friend of mine bought the game and is sharing his account with me. How do I capture cities/city-states? I was Arabia, and bombarding a little city-state but it would never blow up. I had like 2 catapults and 3 archer units firing on the place but that last bit of health never drained.
They didn't really discover America. I mean technically they did, but Colombus is credited with discovering America because when he discovered it, it actually meant something. For the Vikings it was just some far off land told upon in legends.
...And for Colombus it was just India.
...And for Colombus it was just India.
Yeah but he really got the whole thing going. [editline]02:05PM[/editline] New avatar - YEAH.
Howcome there are barely any MP servers?
Damnit in my current game there is only war. It's me, Darius, Catherine, Ghandi and Wu fighting at the same time in a free for all. It's been going on for so long I can't even remember the start, and we are all in a horrible state and really strained by this conflict, yet none of us want to give up (I sure won't). The fucking sad music has been playing for like 50 turns now, and the only way out of this is the nuke it seems (to which I am racing as fat as I can).
Just started my first game of Civ 4. It took me a while to get into it but I'm sort of starting to see the appeal. I'm also starting to experience the 'one more turn' syndrome.
I can't wait until realism mods start coming.
There are already some minor mods available. Changing stats and such.
What's the best way to produce more science? :science:
Build libraries and universities. You can switch the city production to science, it will slightly boost your research points.
Producing gold or science or those things is a waste of production, you only get 10% of it, so unless you're in a really tight spot for GPT, I'd advise just building more units.
