Can you turn off timed-victory mid-game in singleplayer?
no
Not even with the tuner?
Anyone else having stability issues in the simple map view?

Holy shit, that is some heavy gear rolling on the borders. Looks awesome, never had such giant armies before.
Clash of nations.
How much gold do i need to buy a city? i offered the ottomans 500 for a weak city and they said he deal would not work
It's actually nearly impossible to aquire a city using money. They only chance you will get is when you are about to crush them they offer peace treaty and some minor cities.
The fuck man, Askia of the Songhai was friendly at first, then he insults me and next turn he is asking for a cooperation pact.
The fuck?

It's very rare for the AI to sell a city, don't count on it unless the deal is VERY much in their favor.

i see
wow, i am playing a very peaceful game.
its 200AD and no one has ever declared war on me or showed any kind of hate towards me at all.
but there is one civ that i have not yet discovered on an unknown continent.
[sp]i bet its Ghandi[/sp]
but funny enough all 3 of the other civs that i know have declared war on my nearest city-state Genoa and i am making loadsa money on this since their troops have to pass through my country in order to get to Genoa
I had fascism on and i was Germany. I wanted to create World war :frown:
you need allies to support you.
Deleted all my previous saves because they weren't going my way (:v:)
Now playing the middle easterners with my back to the ocean. Goin good so far, probably gonna keep this one
America!
I thought the game ended at turn 500/2050AD?
It doesn't when Domination is the only victory condition, it just goes until one remains
Started a game of Stigg's Earth, which is a specialty made huge sized marathon length earth map scenario that features hand-picked start locations, resources, city states, terrain, etc. Much better balanced than the standard "Real life locations" mod which just throws every empire on the already exsisting earth map map. With growing forests mod, an econ mod that increases research costs by 50% and reduces production cost of units/buildings by 20%, and a mod that adjusts the size of units to be a bit more proportional, this is going to be one epic game.
I feel like I'll crash halfway through though. Playing as japan, which is hard compaired with the resource mod since you effectivly can't do anything until you research optics (which takes almost 80 total turns to do at the start of the game with this mod).
The good thing is that Japan's location on the map is extremely resource rich and easy to defend. They also start off right next to mount fuji which is also nice. Once you research all the tech needed to take advantage of the luxury resources and cattle (which the resource mod boosts yeilds for), I imagine i'll get the ball rolling.

Did the same thing, it was even the exact date.

Usually its 2060, but you can extend it with One.. More... Turn...
If the AI is mad at you for utterly destroying other civs can you trade them gold or resources for nothing in return except their respect?
Depends. If you have random personalities on, then no, they will always hate you. If not, it will go away after a few turns. Violence is easily forgotten.
Is it strange that I'm so paranoid of the persians that I have a savegame where I've got a shit ton of military on the borders that we share with them, that in the case that they attack, I load that and END ZEM
If they attack me, I'd probably win, but not without losing alot of military/workers and shizz.

Isn't "Weakness never is" the next part of that saying?

Ghandi better not try anything.
What difficulty's everyone playing? I started playing with the one easier from normal (err, middle)
Prince, I don't think I will go higher because that's when the AI starts cheating. I'm fine with very difficult AI, but cheating AI? No thanks.
King here, I was a monarch player in CIV but I only won like half of the times, and now even less, but I'm sure that after a few more games I'll get adjusted to the way the game is played.
Do you guys think I could run this with my current specs?
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
2.0 GB of RAM
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600)
GeForce 9800 GT
Realtek High Definition Audio
I actually doubt it, but I can run the demo just fine and I'm wondering whether the main game is a bit more demanding, or like a lot more demanding than the demo.
For some reason my trade-route keeps breaking using Shigg's Japan.
