Well they did lay-off a good chunk of their staff.
Or actually MAKING a proper Multiplayer part instead of that Beta we have now.
I still can't believe Firaxis is so fucking incompetent that the still haven't released a patch that fixes any of the crashing problems.
They're working on several patches that will address issues with Diplomacy, AI "cheating", Multiplayer, and performance problems. They're not releasing them one by one but all together so that's why it's taking a bit longer.
Yeah, they need a patch out.
So I am just chilling out, building cities on my island and doing whatever England does, and then Gandhi and Russia declare war on me. It ended with the peaceful revolutionary Ghandi wiping out half the map with nuclear weapons he was stockpiling.
Ghandi is a fucking badass.
I never got the AI to use nukes... wish i could gift nuclear missiles to city states.
The Aztecs are a threat to everyone in all of my games. They build up a strong as fuck military and begin planting cities in everyone's territory.
Keeping a note to eliminate them ASAP in every new game or better yet, go gunpowder on there sacrificial asses.
I must be playing on too low a difficulty, by the time I reach the modern era or even the industrial era, I'm just leaps and bounds beyond the AI empires that it's ridiculous. I've read some of the problems with the AI which seem to correlate with what I see, but is it really that bad?

For me it was always Persia. Every random game I started had Persia on it and they would ALWAYS end up dominating half the world. I got to the point where I stopped in including them in games and custom chose the enemy Civs.
Hahah wow companion cavalry are aweosme

I agree, every time I get a game with Persia, they always end up with a huge empire acquired through war, which is beyond weak as piss, which only begs the question, how fucking haphazard were the empires it took over?
They probably were all dumb as shit and let themselves easily get taken over as they all wage war against each other super early in the game, and the only reason why persia kept winning was because they get longer golden ages (whcich means more military production and less being poor).
Serious I've yet to see an AI have more than 400 or so gold, and I'm pretty sure its not because they are efficent with spending their resources

Goddamnit, Multiplayer really needs a save option. I've been playing games with a friend of mine but they all last too long to finish. Adding the sp animations would be nice too.
Guys, what sort of stuff should I be aware of when I start a new game, besides Gandhi?

Play nice at first
Try and get into pacts of cooperation with other players (if you do make sure you do what they ask, unless it involves going to war a lot).
If you have good allies you'll easily be able to trade one luxury for one of their luxuries.
Try and get as many luxuries as you can. More luxuries = more happyness, which = bigger armies/populations, and golden ages.

TBH having that much money is uselss and a waste though. It's not like you are making 500g per turn. Spend some of that on buying units/buildings instantly, buying land, barganing with players, etc.
A dollar not spent in Civ is a wasted dollar after all. UNless you are constantly broke like the AI ususally is.
How the fuck do I get iron? I've researched mining and that's all I know about getting and using the damn stuff.
You need Iron working, you get it after Bronze working which is available after mining.
After you have Iron working unlocked, you can see where's the Iron and mine it.
Then I guess my city is positioned badly. I've got iron working (hell, I just researched frigging steel!) and I can't see any of it.

Happens sometimes, usually the fault of the map if you get stuck somewhere with few strategic resources. Try to trade for some.
I was doing great in my current game, till Songhai declared war on me, after all we've been through, we destroyed Greece and some other civilization together </3
Then, when I pay Arabia to help in the war, they kill Songhai, then Arabia declares war on me. I've got two cities left, because my corner of the continent had massive amounts of horses and iron and uranium, but not a single drop of oil or a glimmer of aluminum.. Persia, who owns an entire continent to himself (with Germany who has been fending himself off for hundreds of years on some little peninsula :v:), whom I paid to fight Arabia, hasn't sent shit yet.. It's been fucking decades :\
Does Ghandi act aggressive in your guys' games without checking the randomize personalities option? He's always been peaceful in mine. The only remotely war-like thing he's done is enter in Pacts of Secrecy.

It's almost the opposite for me. In my experiences, Persia always tries some retarded radical takeover against a bigger country, ends up going to war with the entire world and gets wiped out before the modern era.

So in short, we're still playing Multiplayer Beta?
Catherine had an army bigger than mine, so I built an army of giant death robots and killed the bitch v:v:v
So in short, we're still playing Multiplayer Beta?
It certainly feels like a beta. Multiplayer has massive potential, but right now it's just average.
Finally a patch. It took quite some time though, sometimes my game had some serious issues.

Civ 3 and 4 had it working... why is this not. I am on the verge of writing a proper complaint and asking for my money back. Nowhere was it stated that i bought a Beta. On the contrary.

You should visit the official forums and see how many complaints there are about civ5 Multiplayer. I guess we can only hope the devs listen to their fans and patch multiplayer to a decent state.
