It also depends on the map size and how many players/computer civilizations you are playing with.

Yeah i guess, but i've played with large and 10 opponents and it was still fine. Haven't tried the largest settings yet, i guess ill try that later.

Playing a huge map with 10 civilizations (not counting my own) was rendering at no more than 16-18 FPS.
Relevant PC specs
CPU - 2.66Ghz quad core
RAM - 8GB DDR2 (800 or 1033 Mhz, I can't remember)
GPU - XFX Geforce 9800GT (I'm now using a GTX 460 because of Civ V...)
I can't go one more turn without the game crashing, what the fuuuu

New Civs
It was probably something to do with those fanatical violent buddhist spaniards.
I find Civ IV a lot more amusing than Civ V, is something wrong with me?
Yes.
After playing few games of Civ5 I can say that the new Civ is to much based around combat which is great but gets boring after a while. The prequels had a lot more possibilities and was way more complex, achieving victory through different goals was really fun. In Civ5 it's all about war and minimal city management.
Still it's a good game.

If your definition of 'wrong' is 'having a different opinion', then yes, there is something wrong with you.

In an ironic twist my cultural victory as Gandhi saw me conquoring all of Europe, Africa and Asia and nuking China and Ottomans silly... just as he said in Civ I...
The problem is that the enemies don't know when to stop... or when not to start at all.
I'm more of a diplomatic player and only defend myself. I try to expand fast and spread my own culture. These things aren't well presented and detailed in the game. Instead you just produce units to fight which is lame after a while, even with the new tiles and battle system. It's an 4X game not just a turnbased battle game.
Is it just me, or is there no game summarising after the game is won?

Yeah, I really miss the little instant replay of the entire you match you got at the end of a game of Civ 4.
And the other leaders being sore losers was nice too.
Some of the historical inaccuracies you can get are just hilarious. Y'all remember Michiel de Ruyter? Dutch sailor who helped us out when we were in some deep shit during the 17th century?
Fuck you, you don't know shit. He was in fact an Iroquois general who was killed around 750 AD by a group of barbarians while on his way to support some of his fellow tribesmen who were planning to destroy Catherine and her empire.
Civ 4 had it even better, due to religions. Let's just say that seeing Montezuma of the Aztecs or Huyana Capac of the Inca invade a far-off land which belongs to a European civilization isn't even close to seeing Isabella I of Spain eradicate her heathen Christians neighbors from her soon-to-be Jewish continent.
Catherine's remarks are hurtful. :saddowns:
I can't have a decent game without Montezuma or Ghandi kicking the shit out of everyone. :saddowns:

with me, it's always Germany... Fucking nazi's always pull the Hitler on me. Cooperation treaty and then BANG! i'm dead.
1. It's somewhat CPU intensive, even for me it takes some time for the turns with my OC'd 955. Or if you're talking about overall, try turning off VSync and/or lowering graphic settings
2. Ask devs why they decided to integrate steamworks for it.
CPU intensive and unoptimized more like..
I have a i7 and once it gets to 300+ more turns it takes more than 30 seconds for each turn to end
quite ridiculous

Something's wrong there. My Q9550 at 3.4 GHz takes about 15 seconds in the very endgame.
What is mapsize?

What mapsize do you play on?
Thank you Sir Whoopsalot, for compiling my question into coherency.
(ciV took all my sleep, mild retardation may occur)
I'm trying to play multiplayer with a friend but when i go to multiplayer i wont let me select internet.
It just says '' you need to have steam active and an internet connection''.
Is there an easy concrete way to skip the opening cinematic?

Core i7 980X
16 GB DDR3 SDRAM
4x 480 GTX sli
would probably do it. I dislike the way they load during the cinematic. It kinda ruins it... and it gets tiring watching it all the time.
