montezuma: a peaceful civilization
lol
Why did Civ5 cut out so much shit compared to Civ4?
It honestly just seems like a step down in everything but combat, as they didn't add anything, they just removed features and left everything else the same.
Bump.
Crushed Babylon after they denounced me for being "Warmongering" he was down to his last city and begged me for a peace treaty. To which I replied, "Bitch, please. You had your chance." and killed his ass.

He thought I was warmongering because I killed off Spain early because the slut was insulting my honor.
I love being denounced for everything I do.
Deity AIs are pussies.
I just don't find the appeal in clicking the same "next turn" over and over and making no visible progress, even though the trailers made this look amazingly fun. Get checked for mental retardation or something, since you didn't offer any advice on how to improve the gameplay. It looks fun with all the little characters you talk too but it's just so damn boring.
Hey, get a prescription before you get on this thread.
being a fan of age of empires and never getting into settlers is civ worth getting?
after about 100 turns.
you're just impatient. Get checked for ADD or something.
I have ADD and I like this game. Stop using ADD as the catchall of impatient people.
i didn't want to make a new thread but in civ 4 how do you turn off that popup that comes up asking what you want to build next after something is done? it's annoying as fuck

In city? or worker improvement?
If it's workers improvements you should just automate them. They are awesome like that.

Also, I got Civ V recently and am very disappoint. :saddowns:
Where are religions?
never mind
anyone?
Why is there still no ability to save in multiplayer? :|
Playing a 4 hour game with a friend, just about to win and the game crashes....
Few questions: Is this game more populated in multiplayer or singleplayer, or both? Is there a lobby for multiplayer? Is this game worth buying if you have a short attention span? Is multiplayer even fun?
Thanks :v:
So, I'm thinking of buying this game, because the more I read about it, the more interested I am in it, but I'm still on the fence.
Are there any good let's play style videos/articles that can give me a better idea of how the game plays? Keep in mind, I've never played any of the civilization series or clones of it.

This is the first Civilization game I've ever played too. I enjoy this game a lot, and I'm not such a big fan of strategy games. Buy it from G2play.net and save money, i suggest getting the DLC's as well.
Need some help. Can't find any online games in my region. Which area do you propose that I change to?

I haven't personally tried MP yet but you should know that there are no animations at all in MP from what I understand. In theory it shouldn't be such a big deal but for some it can kind of ruin the experience. I'm also not sure about the status of saving in MP, which is sort of important to me as well as I prefer standard to longer length games.
Anyway, would anyone be interested in a sort of let's play or AAR thing? My recent 12 civ, 24 city-state game on the Earth map as the Mongolians would've been great to document. One huge war kicked Egypt out of South America and established me as a continent-wide power. Much later in 1941, my Mongolian army and Navy broke a German held Fortress Europe by landing and capturing a city in Spain. Fast forward ~20 turns after a short ceasefire for my forces to build up in Spain, and it's about 1980 and i've built up an airforce and some guided missiles in Spain to finish off the Germans with the help of the English in Africa. Gandhi has just finished the Manhattan Project and has joined Caesar in a massive war against Russia.
Anyway i've just recently started another game on the Earth map, this time with 6 civs and 12 city states to keep the speed up late game. Not too late to start taking pictures for an AAR or something.
Still no mod that lets you pick which age to play in? Instead of advancing through them, you can stick to one. It would be nice to play only in the Industrial age, or earlier before gunpowder is even invented
Humungous patch:
http://store.steampowered.com/news/5739/
Main Notes:
* Pacing has received a large amount of work. Expect to have more of a challenge managing your empire at higher difficulty levels than you did before. Consider dropping a difficulty level if you have problems.
* Existing saves will work correctly. However, the balance pass may make your existing happiness lower than expected when loading into your existing save post-patch.
* Civilopedia now available in the Main Menu (under “Other”)
* Replay is now available at the end of the game, and through the main menu. You can choose Map, Graphs, and turn-by-turn. Only games played post-patch will apply.
challenge managing your empire?
what does that mean?
I think one of the complaints I've heard was that compared to older civ games, the harder difficulties weren't that hard.
challenge managing your empire?
what does that mean?
* Tweaked Policy cost formula (cheaper earlier, more expensive later).
* Reduced per-city Policy cost increase by 50%.
Combine this with Ancien Regime and France is pretty much unstoppable culturally.
I got into this game again after the last update. The game is far better than in the initial release, but there are still some major bugs considering combat and animations. Another thing which is annoying is the frameratedrop after a while, the game is terribly optimized.

Crap frame rate doesn't matter that much though, you can still play fine it's not like you're trying to hit moving targets or anything, it just looks like ass.
Can anyone explain why Civ V got such terrible player reviews? It's a little frustrating sure, but I enjoyed it. Seemed like most people were old time Civ players that were pissed you needed Steam to play which I can understand.
Lots of things, such as religion and diplomacy, got dumbed down. Plus, there was a big hike in system requirements from IV, and it was very buggy on initial release.
I did like this one better than Civ IV though. I love a game with depth, but I liked the more casual feel to this one. It made it easier to get games going and get them finished. I've played Civ since I was pretty young, starting at II. I played Civ III religiously, but pretty much skipped IV. I lost the interest for all the depth, and Civ V cut enough of the weight to get me addicted again.
Although it's understandable that fans would be disappointed. The changes appeal to me, but for people that liked the depth it's obviously a step down.
gonnta try it over the weekend cant waait to nuke everyone :)
Civilization 3 is my favourite one.
