Why? Being a bit nationalist is nothing wrong. People mix up nationalism with national socialism/Hitler way to often these days.
no I mean, if my friends somehow got into my house while I'm sat here by candle light listening to classical music I would be considered a faggot [editline]21st August 2011[/editline] I want to start a new game now, but I know that I won't go to sleep. I'll just get up early in the morning and waste my day away.
I meant best Civ V song. Nothing stands up to Baba Yetu. Nothing.
Best song in the game? I don't know if it's national pride or anything but for me it'd have to be England's "I Vow to Thee, My Country." [editline]21st August 2011[/editline] Oh crap page king. Here, have the song.
It really isn't a national pride thing in the least bit. For me that is the best song in the game.
I meant best Civ V song. Nothing stands up to Baba Yetu. Nothing.
I miss that song every time I opened up Civ 4
I miss that song every time I opened up Civ 4
I only really play Fall from Heaven II now so I never hear it anymore. :saddowns:

Their version isn't on youtube but this sounds like the same orchestration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YMm_1NjFQ4
My favorite on CiV 5 is probably "\Music\Europe\Peace\NewPeerGyntSuiteNo.1Op46.ogg", i know it's fucking overused but i can't remember the name to find it on YouTube. I just can't get tired of listening it, really, i feel like building a caravel to explore shit every time i listen to it in-game.
Nobunaga asks Can I be your ally please? Always betrays you.
It's funny because I'm playing as Nobunaga and everything's working backwards.
I was playing today and Gandhi is talking shit to everyone. Ten minutes later, all the city states and almost all the civs are at war with him. Fucker got what he deserved
:( I don't like when people betray me. Fucking Montezuma!
I'm minding my own business, working on culture SUDDENLY, GANDHI "I hope there is peace between our people" I'm so fucked
Eradicate him and his workers before he can learn the power of thermonuclear dynamics.
Genghis Khan was talkin' shit to my bros, so I decided to fuck him up. Took out his capital first, and when I realized he had absolutely no military units, I decided to play it safe and wait until my units were all healed up before attacking his next city. Fucked his shit.
Best Civ song is still Baba Yetu. It just captures the scale of this game perfectly. Also, why do hadcore civ fans complain about civ5s hex system? I thinks its better TBH.
Hex grids are best grids, if hex grids were a person I would suck their dick until I got lockjaw.
Hex grids are best grids, if hex grids were a person I would suck their dick until I got lockjaw.
Square grids are the frumpy library girl of the grid systems. They're boring, but reliable and relatively simple to understand. If I ever met the personification of square grid tiles, I'd jump her bones within the minute and not stop until my dick fell off due to over-use.
started a new save, spent 75 turns walking around trying to find a suitable place... probably wasn't a good idea ghandi is my friend and he keeps trying to get rights to go through my borders, keep declining the offer though because I know that he's a dick

Especially on higher difficulties, lagging behind by a turn or two can make a huge impact.
Oh china you bitch. It went like that, I teamed up with china to defeat Russia. It looked like this: The gray areas are my cities, Red are chinas and yellow are Russia's. So basically, Me and China were allies. We had open borders, peace and all that shit. Russia was at war with us both. They were mainly focused on their capital, that big yellow spot. Now, I had fucking hundreds of nuclear warheads waiting on my transport boats. I wanted that little red spot china had on the russian continent to blow the fuck out of them. So, the plan was perfectly, I'd buy the city from china and win the game. But OF COURSE FUCKING NOT, because china is such a "disciplined" and "patriotic" piece of shit so they didn't want to trade anything. I two of my cities, lots and really lots of gold, uranium, aluminum, all that shit. But china with their fucking proud said no. Fucking bitch. Guess how it ended. Russia invaded china, took them over with barely effort, and a giant war between now two Russian continents and my continent began. Fuck you china.

I built a Great Wall around two of my cities, and while it was being built I acquired another city. I was pretty pissed when I found out that it won't magically stretch around the 3rd city and that it's only going to stay where it is.

Even ones you didn't know you had.
Settler difficulty is fun. Once I had my tanks, choppers and everything while everyone else had knights and archers.
oh okay forget that great wall part [editline]21st August 2011[/editline] I've just noticed that I don't even know how to win in this game.

Also, the great wall effects all your tiles that aren't offshore or lakes, it doesn't matter where the wall is actually showering up.
If you're having fun you're winning. I just got it because it looked cool v:v:v [editline]21st August 2011[/editline] ghandi still wants to get across my borders, in exchange he wants to give me all of his money; a whopping 4 gold and -1 gold per turn
I might be wrong but doesn't it stop barbarians?
I might be wrong but doesn't it stop barbarians?
+1 Culture, +1 Great Engineer Points; Enemy land units must expend 1 extra movement per Tile inside your territory.
Genghis Khan was talkin' shit to my bros, so I decided to fuck him up. Took out his capital first, and when I realized he had absolutely no military units, I decided to play it safe and wait until my units were all healed up before attacking his next city. Fucked his shit.
So continuing on this, Askia, a neighbor of the previous Genghis Khan, decides to denounce me. I was like, "okay" and continued on with my everyday civ management. I wanted to get rid of the cities I captured from the Mongols, so I came up with a plan: I sold one of the cities to Askia, which in turn, wiped out his gold reserves, as well as provided me with gems. One of my scouts noticed a huge amount of troops coming my way. It was clear that Askia wanted me gone (my capital was a far distance away, so I was not worried). Anyway, he declared war on me and began his attack. Askia got nowhere. I wiped out his entire army, only losing one horseman in the process. Afterwards, I signed a peace treaty with him, and then sold the second Mongol city to him, again wiping out his gold reserve. I finally razed the last city and returned back to Berlin. Catherine did not like this one bit. She denounced me, and I did the same. Luckily, my close friend, Harun Al-Rashid denounced her as well, further bounding us together as allies and friends. I had a plan to declare war on her. My military outnumbered hers, 9 to 2. Her two military units stuck to Moscow, while I began attacking one of her cities. It went down in two turns. I didn't want to keep the city, so I razed it, and began regrouping my troops for a second attack. However, Catherine proposed a deal I could not resist, and I made peace. Unfortunately, I regret this decision as it had not payed off. Catherine began attacking Askia. I did not notice how badly she was ruining Askia until he came to me for assistance, looking for some gold. Harun Al-Rashid, who previously waged war on Askia, became friends with him. I tried doing the same, but he decline. All three of us had denounced Russia, and now, Askia has nothing left but his capital. I plan on an attack on Moscow, and if I get there in time, I may be able to save Askia. Surely, Moscow is clear of any possible resistance. If all goes to plan, I will have Moscow and Yorislav down before Catherine gets to the capital. After I have taken her capital, I will then give Moscow (or if that is not possible, Yorislav) away to Askia, hoping I can save him in time. Catherine is getting too big, and I need to take her down. Arabia has agreed to attack with me, so hopefully we can fuck her shit. [editline]21st August 2011[/editline] Unfortunately, my plan did not go as expected. Little did I realize that a lack of any iron would greatly affect me in combat. The Russians wiped out my entire military with a couple of catapults. I felt ashamed. I called a peace treaty and returned back to Berlin, planning on exploring new worlds and continents. Askia, unfortunately, lost his capital and is now gone from the world. I'm going to have a few Nukes waiting for Catherine in the near future.
I really dislike the DLC thing for this game. I would have much prefered reasonably priced expansion packs rather than a fuckton of $5 DLC that doesnt add features other than more civs.

Hiawatha can go suck a dick. First, he eliminates Greece under 100 turns, then decides to take over the entire damn northern section of the continent. He then assaults Ramsesse and I for "taking his territory" and wages war on us. He then expects me to give up both my cities and 1000+ gold and all my luxuries and strategic shit in exchange for peace. I'm going to nuke that bitch when I can. Anyone know how to do a "we are in troubled times" thing? Other civs can but I do not know how to.
I bought an Notebook recently, time to reinstall Civilizations 3 with the expansions. What a great game.
