Thug life. Why is Askia always in last place?
GodDAMN I was just about to ask if that seriously is an ingame screenshot :v:
Whats your favorite world set up? Mine is Archipelago or Tiny islands, with abundant resources, and epic game length. Its really fun on Tiny Islands with a huge map, to build this massive navy, load it with nukes and bomb the shit out of people.
I like having everything set to random. Then, Scouts are more useful. Earth, Duel, Gandhi. Random is not always a friend of yours, you see.
Well he fought off my forces with archers and warriors so I'd say Siam is still pretty far behind. The good thing is that I managed to wrest control of their city closest to me and force him into peace. Now I have a road that leads directly to his next city so I'm going to start stockpiling something. I'm pretty far into the medieval era so I might be able to get cannons soon, the I can just ride them down the road and assault his city. What should I use as meat shields? I guess if I have spare warriors I could use them to get the boulders being heaped from the city off my back. On the talk of cities, what do you guys usually do with your conquered cities? I decided to make this one a puppet and see what happens.
Puppet the major cities until you can buy a Courthouse, but beyond that strategically raze and puppet the smaller ones.
Well I'm playing two games right now (On my desktop I have Russia and on my laptop I use Songhai) and today I conquered all of Persia. Its now only Washington and me on this island. Can I upgrade longswordmen to musketmen?
I like having everything set to random. Then, Scouts are more useful. Earth, Duel, Gandhi. Random is not always a friend of yours, you see.
I have always thought Scouts were useless. I just get enough units to defend my land and slowly build up a massive economy. Then I mass-explore the map around the Industrial Era. At that point my army is so massive I just bum-rush anyone who even is mildly displeased with me. Unless Gandhi appears. Then I kill him if he's an ally or not. Those fucking barbarians keep Sending boats to my cities, every game. They don't even attack me, they just move back-and-forth across the sea by my city.

And with scouts, theyre not so important on some standard maps but when you play on higher difficulties, its important to discover everyone has quickly as possible to start forming relationships right away. At least thats what I found.

Like holy crap, it looks like a flash game.
What graphics settings are those? Like holy crap, it looks like a flash game.
It's the Strategic View.
It's the Strategic View.
How do I get that? It seems pretty interesting. I'm sorry if I seem a bit dumb here, I've just never noticed the setting before.
It's the Strategic View.
The game runs so poorly on my laptop that I can only play in strategic view, and at some point I realize I should just play an actual board game instead.
How do I get that? It seems pretty interesting. I'm sorry if I seem a bit dumb here, I've just never noticed the setting before.
Look at the bottom left of the minimap and press that button where the little earth is in my screenshots
I'm playing Civ 3, and I have everything to build the space ship except one part, that I can't get, because there is no rubber on the entire map. Will it eventually appear? I think there's one nation that still doesn't have the required technology for it.
Usually you need a certain technology to be able to exploit rubber ressources, although you should have it already considering that you have researched the Alpha Centauri Space tech.
I need some help. I have no idea what this city could be useful for other than being a stationary artillery for passing barbarians. There is no useful tiles around it and stupid as I am, I settled it on a deer-tile (this being the only tile available for settlement because Russia and America blocked every other tile nearby). But since there is place for farms, it's not a huge problem. The main reason why I settled it there was because America and I were enemies, but not currently in war. I thought I could trap him there and then conquer him. He unfortunately noticed this and signed a peace treaty. So far all I can think of is a staging ground for your troops in case you go to war again, somewhere where they can bunker down. Maybe stick some catapults in there?
Keeping a few troops there to occupy half of his army and ruin it with the cities' ranged attacks. Additionally, if you're lucky, oil might spawn later on in the tundra and water there, but don't count on it.
So I've had success and my plan is now laid out for the future of Russia. I'm going to start building an army of musketmen and will build cannons as well. I will then continue my war with Siam with England and use my muskets to beat their archers and warriors. I've used my wealth to form a friendship with every city-state. While I'm at war, I'm going to research military science so that I can upgrade my knights to cossacks and use them as the primary defense of my empire. I think I'm going to immediately disband my muskets and cannons, or at least most of them, immediately after the war with Siam. I'm hoping helping them win the war against Siam will make England my friend so I don't have to worry about sharing the continent with them. God damn I love this game.
So, how are armies in Civ5? I hated making them in Civ4.
So, how are armies in Civ5? I hated making them in Civ4.
They're radically different due to the hex system. They feel good and solid to me, but I suppose some might disagree. At least now chokepoints between mountains and such allow a very small force to beat back a larger force if used correctly. Too bad the AI rarely uses this.
After a long war between two not so wealthy enemies. Five thousand manly Danish vikings had enough of his enemies pushing the glorious emperor himself, Harald Bluetooth around. "Oups, I think I have attacked one of your little friends. I hope that's okay" the enemies said. Harald Bluetooth sat on his mighty throne as he scratched his long and handsome beard. Horns, drums and a heavy march could be heard. The spears pointing to the sky, the dust from each step, the hair swinging to the heavy winds could be seen. The great army marched to the front gate as the defense of Americas prepared their catapults. The weather started to change, the ground began to darken for each second. The wind stopped, the march stopped but the drums and shouts could still be heard. Harald raised his hand to the very sky, reaching for Thor. His hand stopped. Not even a split second passed before he began to shout and the march rushed to the gates. A slash with my axe and youth fell to the ground, leaving your homeland in torn and flames. Only as an extremely lucky Arabia I managed to get 200+ gold per turn, and that was only after the industrial era.

I don't understand how you can go under even 150-gold-per-turn by that stage.

The reason why I don't have that much gold per turn is probably because I have every city set to production focus.
