So It's 2005, and I'm the only civilization in the modern era, and the rest are stuck in Industrial. I was wondering why everything was going so slow when I realized that I took out the second-largest power in the world to get here, and everyone was relying on his research agreements. So yeah, I single-handedly stunted scientific progress just by invading someone. That's awesome.
In my cultural game as the Aztecs, Augustus formed a huge empire and forged research agreements with everyone. He was clearly going for a science victory, and the entire world was in the renaissance when he hit the modern age. :v:
One of the first achievements I got in Civ 5 was "Seriously?!?" :v:
My game glitched out and it gave me the achievement a turn before someone else was about to complete it and I was like "wat" fuck you civ, preemptive strike
for some reason my game is just straight up crashing.
Who are you guys going to play first in G&K? I'm stuck between Boudica and Theodora
Which one is the sexy black chick?
Anyone interested in multiplayer Civ IV?
im def. going with the celts. them guys seem like the coolest of all the choices also theodora is the black chick
None of them?
She's not black, just insanely tan.
I don't like ancient era/classical based civs. It just feels their unique units/abilities are only useful for a very short period of time.

Fuck you Elizabeth, if you ever pull a time win out of your fat ginger arse again I'll wreck shit. I was doing well, just nuked Onondaga and got their Uranium deposits and BAM time defeat. [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5003648/CivilizationV_DX11%202012-06-15%2016-41-06-16.png[/t] First ever game too, I thought I was going to win. I saw that Elizabeth was starting a space victory so I was trying to get enough nukes to destroy her. [editline]15th June 2012[/editline] 6 hours 12 minutes, how long does a normal level 2 difficulty large map game take? :v:

Yes, yes it is. I'm incredibly unorganised, as you can tell by my attempts at renaming the cities I had conquered. I'm gonna do another game as maybe Denmark or something and play things out a lot better, this game was just a bit of a mess.
I always end up saving atleast 1 ancient unit just for kicks.
I love it when there are still barbarian brutes out there and I have my mechanized infantry
I love it when there are still barbarian brutes out there and I have my mechanized infantry
I played at the highest difficulty and barbarians will gain techs as you gain them barbarian stealth bombers and aircraft carriers
Do you guys have any general advice or tips to get a leg up on the AI? I do alright on Prince difficulty but it feels like the AI always slowly takes the lead.
I played at the highest difficulty and barbarians will gain techs as you gain them barbarian stealth bombers and aircraft carriers
I consider those to be Somali Pirates at that point. :v:

I also tend to chose to make research agreements with Weaker/Lesser Nations instead of those who are on more even footing as me.
Are those city-states any worth to invest in or maintain relations? I never bothered with it, it felt like a waste of ressources.
Are those city-states any worth to invest in or maintain relations? I never bothered with it, it felt like a waste of ressources.
If you've got good cash flow it's worth it.
If you've got good cash flow it's worth it.
Siam and Patronage also make it worth it. Siam has that natural city state relationship modifier, and Patronage means you're essentially getting a whole lot more bang for your buck.
If you've got good cash flow it's worth it.
What do you get out of it anyway, I befriended once a military state, but it gave some catapults and musketmen. Although I already had mechanized infantry.

They also add whatever they've got within your borders (Oil, Iron, Cotton, etc) to your trade route. It's a good way to quickly appease your people or help fund a war effort. They also make handy fronts and staging points during wars.

I typically befriend the ones near me like a kind of backup, especially military ones, during big wars those otherwise useless units become critical. Cultural ones give a handy bonus, and sometimes luxury resources from city states are the difference between happy and unhappy. I got the explorer's map pack today, anyone else have troubles in the Amazon map? I can't seem to be successful with all the jungle and marsh.
Also, the last part of the Patronage Policy allows City-State allies to spawn great people, which can often times help you raise the level of influence you have with other city states inadvertently.
I'm going to see what this "causing all nighters" is about and start a game later on this evening and see what hour of the morning I'm awake till :v:
